    I'm not leaving cyber security forever, just trying to find a way to make it work better with my goals! Can't wait to find new ways to integrate the two into my freelance life!
    Have you made a career transition within tech? What did you do/What do you do now?

    Damn! So you already knew what you were doing while still in college and transitioned within a YEAR!! I am 30 and still don't know wtf I'm doing and still haven't found something I like. You are luckyyy to have that mindset lol

    I think you should get into UX/UI design. You sound like a good fit. I finish my Cybersecurity degree in April and I just got a job in December 2021 as an information security analyst. It’s sooooooo boring. I been studying HTML/CSS/JavaScript and I like that better. You’re right, seeing your result as a beautiful webpage is definitely motivational and neat. Im more of a creative person as well, so I think this suits me. Anyway, thanks for your videos and congratulations on your marriage ☺️

      im thinking between web dev or cybersecurity (no degree no IT work exp), wondering what makes info sec boring? alot sitting around of just monitoring? Might be fine with that if its not a stressful job as i heard some web dev and cybersecurity jobs can be quite stressful and leads to burnout.

    Omg! I didn’t know you got married! Congratulations! Also, you are my role model because I actually graduated with the same major, but I really didn’t feel like it was good fit for me. So I transitioned to web development(been learning on my own). I honestly love it more than Cybersecurity. Keep it up, girl. You are inspiring me! 💕

      First thank you!! And WOW!! That’s so cool that we’re in the same boat haha. But I totally understand- In the future if I do cyber security, it has to be for web dev and there has to be some kind of a creative aspect. Cyber security can DEFINITELY get a lil dry sometimes 😅
      But thank you so much for watching and best of luck with your transition as well! If you ever want to chat I’m always here!! 🤍🥲

    Question is a Macbook M1 good to use to study for certs and learn all things cyber security or will I need a windows laptop ?

    • @hackvlix
      @hackvlix 2 года назад +2

      A lot of cyber security revolves around Windows, so you every now and then you would have to do some things on Windows. Normally, it would be sufficient to run Windows on VMware or VirtualBox, but neither of these is compatible with the M1 chips (as far as I know). There is a VM called Parallels that works on Mac M1, and it can run an ARM-version of Windows 11. However, the ARM-version of Windows is not compatible with every "normal" Windows program.
      Long story short - for most things you should be fine with an Mac M1, but for certain practical exercises it would be good to have a second (Intel) computer that either runs Windows or runs a VM that can run Windows.

    Hi Rebecca, go for it!
    Also, do you think your degree was worth it? I'm considering UTSAs online cyber degree. Thanks!

    • @techwithbecca
      @techwithbecca  2 года назад +2

      This is a hard question- yes and no.
      Yes because college was where I really learned how to code, how I got my internships and got to meet lots of great people. But No because it’s kinda expensive for what I learned 😅
      But I will say I think we still live in a world that values degrees. A lot of jobs won’t even let you apply without a degree.
      If I could go back I’d probably do a CS minor or something a little more technical- but that’s just because of the path I want to take. It all just depends on where your interests lie :)
      I don’t want to push you away from pursuing a degree- UTSA was great! If you chose the college route- take FULL ADVANTAGE of everything they have to offer so it’s worth it :)

      @@danielsalim5643 Yeah! I actually really enjoy coding which is another reason why I think I was drawn to it. I like coding and then seeing a beautiful website as the result- you don’t really get as much satisfaction when you code in cyber security. (At least for me personally!)

    • @techwithbecca

      The pay is definitely not the problem! The pay is phenomenal lol however I learned that a purely cyber security job wasn’t the right fit for me. I love creative work and find a lot of joy and fulfillment in web development. I’m working towards finding a role where I can use both skills!
