Not sure if anyone will see this comment. But the torque steering problem is stupid bad on the TT02 and it is so frustrating that the solution appears to be hidden. I am not a smart guy I found a video after typing in torque steer (that is your problem) and found a guy with a solution, use a couple turnbuckle links from the top of the steering knuckle to the bumper problem solved. I was ready to get rid of our TT02s and buy a Kyosho fazer, but it drives straight as an arrow at a good clip. Hope you already found this solution, best of luck.

Thanks mate. My main issue turned out to be a dodgy steering servo that was twitching randomly. But yeah, the steering isn't great on these cars. I have another bunch of steering upgrades to put into it sometime, so I'll see how that helps (haven't touched the car in about a year). Thanks for your insight!

also a full turnbuckle set and a really good grade servo and thats about it although there are some steering mods online you could try but this model tamiya is prone to this issue i have several of them and to get them 100% is not easy ive got mine to 85-90% but still there is one where they use a turnbuckle and mount it to the front bumper support which apparently takes all the slop out and tbh i have never bothered but it must work as when you hold and brace the section being fitted with an arm from the steering knuckle to the front bumper there is 0% Slop hope you have had some positive outcome in this issue Rikki🙂

Thanks for the comment and tips. Turns out the servo was a bit bung and twitching. Switched it out for another one. Anyway, I was recently in Japan and bought a bunch of hop ups for it. Full steering upgrade kit, low friction screw set, alu prop shaft and joints, 2.5deg rear uprights, adjustable upper arm set. Will make a new video eventually.

You need to shim the suspension arms to take out all the slop, upgrade servo horn, use 2 or 3’ rear toe hubs and that should straighten you up, I also did a few mods to increase front caster by 2’ which also gives you more straight line stability.
But I’d first start with shimming the arms, 5mm ID shims from 0.1 to 0.3 mm and 3mm ID 0.1 to 0.3 is what you will need to get the slop out of all the arms.
You will have to experiment on what thicknesses your car will need, I only needed 0.1mm shims on all the arms to remove all the slop. But the arms must still be free to move, I test this with a wheel on the car, lift the wheel and let it go, it must drop on its own. A little grease on the shims will help.
These are tricks I have learnt from many years of racing Tamiya cars and being successful against much more expensive better cars.
Theres also loads of info on tuning theses cars on google, the rc racer is a good site

You sir are a champion. Thanks so much for the tips and taking the time to comment. Time to get me some shims!

My opinion is the TT02 steering assembly is a disaster. We are having the same issue. It's not only the steering assembly but also loose bearings in the wheel axle assembly. Bloody annoying

Yeah. I have bought a whole bunch of upgrade parts and will get around to putting them in one day. It should reduce a bit of the slop and also offer more adjustability. I just don't drive it much anymore.

Is that the stock TT-02 Platform servo and servo horn?

Stock horn yes. Think I need to upgrade it. Servo is an ebay spec metal gear thing. Tower Pro MG946R

    Does this increase steering radius?

Hi Jimmy, no this particular upgrade does nothing for steering angle. Think you need aftermarket knuckles and lower arms for that.
