Zoria Shikmurzaeva was born in the capital of Tatarstan, Kazan, USSR (now Russia) in 1933, and started playing violin at the age of 6. Her teachers were: Vladimir Wulfman, Kayum Baiburov and Abram Il'ich Yampolsky.
Zoria was a rapidly rising star in the early 50s. Her first success was the Grand Prix and Gold Medal at the First World Festival (Первый Всемирный Фестиваль, 1953), followed by the prizes in the first Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1958), Queen Elizabeth in Belgium, and Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition in Paris.
Unfortunately, the young violinist was placed on the "black list" by a certain powerful person and was not allowed to tour in the West for most of her life. Thus, her stunning playing is virtually unknown in the Western Europe and the United States.
She has toured the former USSR extensively and often heard on the national radio within the country. She began teaching in the Moscow conservatory in 1956 and remained a Professor for 40+ years, until October 2008 when she suffered a stroke.
She passed away on April 24, 2010, in Moscow.

I'm really REALLY looking forward to your video on staccato. I've been working on staccato since almost 2 years now and i never thought that I'd be the staccato that will take me the longest time to learn. 2 things in staccato that I struggle with -
1 - Speeding up my staccato
2 - At the end of each staccato stroke, i get an unwanted sound. That sound comes from my fingers moving to relaxed state after flexing during each stroke (to perform staccato, I pinch the bow followed immediately by flexing of fingers ). In order to get a clean separation between notes, i have to practice staccato at a very slow pace. As soon as i increase my speed , I get that 'Double sound'
I'd be truly grateful to you if you address this issue in your staccato video. Thank you 🙏

@@ViolinClassUSA Yes!! I'm working on it. I greatly appreciate your efforts. Not just the staccato video, most of your videos have been helpful to me as someone who does not have direct access to a teacher. And I can tell you that your videos regarding the bow hand are the best across RUclips. In the past, I used to really struggle with my bow grip. But your 3 video series on the bow hand has transformed my bowing and cleared my mind on the illusion of colle during bow change. I truly appreciate your efforts.

    Dear Madame Bushkova,
May I submit a question for the next livestream? I would like you to explain the fingering for the 3 and 4 octave (Galamian?) scales. What is the logic behing the fingering choices? For example, the ascending scale uses the A string in 3rd position, but stays on the E string when descending. Why not use the same fingering up AND down? Also, I notice the fingering 2-1, 2-1 in descending scales. At the moment, I find this vey awkward because I can't see the notes going down (since my hand is "blocking" my view of the fingerboard). How does one approach this technique?

Sorry I did not see your question until now. I believe I talk about the fingerings and the reasoning in my scale videos, though

    Good evening, ma'am.
I have been following your live videos and downloading the videos from your page.
It has been really helpful to me in my violin journey.
I'm a Nigerian and I am an intermediate player. I would love to be tutored personally by you. Please, is there any way I can reach you?
I would be glad to tour this violin journey with your personal guidance.
