    Hello Lovely Alice😊 love your book reviews. Love your past reviews and this way of doing it - that's not helpful is it?! Whatever way you find easier & you prefer! You always show us the pics so we can see what is in the book, & tell us how the instructions are for ease of use and that is what you want from a book review to help you decide if it's for you ... so excellent work either way! I love Eevee ... I think I'm a sucker for cute & furry🤣🧡

    Just got this book a few weeks ago and am close to finishing Pikachu! The patterns are written a bit different from what I was used to(but they do go over reading the patterns in the beginning) so a bit of a learning curve there. Also I’ve seen a few comments about the use of felt in these(from another review), but they are simple shapes to figure out to crochet if you want to crochet the details. So far tho, I am loving this book!

    • @starlightandstitches
      @starlightandstitches  Год назад

      Yes! Some things in there are a little different to what most of us are used to- but a little bit of concentration and you can get some awesome Pokémon!! If you’re on Instagram I’d love to see your pikachu once it’s finished!! 🤩

    I have just finished JigglyPuff & while reading the Patterns instructions I had to use a scratch paper to figure out her written instructions for Decreases. So I could make my lines and try to figure out where her decreases are.
    When I write out my patterns to read easily I actually write out
    # sc (single crochet) then a down arrow (decrease) and repeat.
    Example - * 3 Sc - ⬇️ * and Repeat around

      Honestly the way they were written stumped an awful lot of people- anything you can do to make it easier to understand is a win in my book!

    Thank you for this video. I purchased that book from Amazon USA, am a bit stymied because I find that the colors used for the characters in the book don't always match up to the colors of the same characters in Pokemon GO, but I've finally decided that it doesn't matter all that much. Unfortunately, it seems to matter a great deal to those in my circle of family and friends who are dedicated Pokemon lovers.

    • @starlightandstitches
      @starlightandstitches  Год назад +2

      Just make them in whatever colours you like Judy!! You don’t have to follow exactly what the book says 🥰 I hope you have lots of fun making them!

      @@starlightandstitches I get that. But some of these people are extremely serious about Pokemon. Luckily, I have received approval from the resident Pokemon fan here for the blue and other colors I have for Snorlax!! LOL.. Otherwise, I would be inclined to make him purple or maybe even variegated/striped...

    • @starlightandstitches
      @starlightandstitches  Год назад +1

      I’d be the same- I’d love to see a variegated snorlax!! But for a full on fan it’s got to be the real deal. My daughter is really into Pokémon too! 😃

    For the snoralax, it says 8 ch+1tch (basically chain 9). How the author has it written is super confusing. I have a dew rounds left in the body but its going to be a waste of time if I can't seem to get the belly part done.

    I have just ordered this book and it arrives in a few days. I am looking forward to making these but I have zero experience in the felt parts. I have a bag of felt scraps from a yard sale and a hot glue gun but what is the easiest way to cut it to make it so perfect? Any advice is appreciated. I am a pretty good beginner/intermediate

    • @starlightandstitches
      @starlightandstitches  2 года назад

      I found (if you’re using the same yarn weight as specified on the patterns) to trace the felt stencils in the book onto a piece of plain white paper first. Then I just held it in place on the felt as I cut around the shapes! When I used the chunkier yarn I did the same but cut around the stencils with excess around. I hope that helps! 😊

    There are SOOO many errors in this book. It says to use felt for the Meowth but there is no pink in the template.
    The patterns are horribly hard to understand. Instead of saying “[ sc 5, inc, sc 7, inc ], etc. she writes “[ sc 2 on the 7th, 9th, 19th, 23rd, 33rd, 45th, sc (60) ]
    This forces you to count EVERY SINGLE STITCH for a round of 54 or 60.
    There are errors and lots of mistakes. I can’t believe it was even professionally tech-edited, or even proofread. 🤷‍♂️

      I find a lot of the end counts are incorrect and the charizard wings are completely incorrect. I have emailed the author of the book in hopes I will get the correct pattern🤞

      That’s such a shame. I’ve still only made the magikarp so far and that pattern was fine from what I can remember. This was such a highly anticipated book, so frustrating if there is that much wrong. Will you keep us posted if you hear anything back please? C

    • @starlightandstitches
      @starlightandstitches  Год назад

      Point taken! Thank you!
      The aim of my reviews in general are to look through the books and see what the patterns are like (ie what patterns are included), so my subscribers can see if it’s for them or not and wether or not they want to buy it. I’m sorry my review wasn’t to your taste but there are many other wonderful channels out there who do similar things. I’m sure somewhere out there you’ll find the right one for you. Have a great weekend.
