    The US has maintained an economic and financial blockade against Cuba since 1960. The blockade is enforced to restrict any economic activity and financial transaction in the US dollar dominated banking system and it also pressurizes all other countries to comply with this blockade. Hence Cuba has little economic development and is constantly deprived of essential medicines and other needed materials for its population. This is a hardship imposed on 10 million fellow humans in Cuba. The UN has voted to condemn this hardship imposed on Cuba 191 votes to 2. Nothing has been done to end it. Cuba is a sovereign state recognized and represented in the UN. Taiwan is not a sovereign state recognized in the UN. It belongs to China.

      The US is also militarily blockading Cuba and Venezuela for years! Many Chinese, Iranian, and Russian cargo ships that tried to bring food, medicine, and other supplies to the Cuban and Venezuelan people have been captured by the US’s warships where the people in those ships were arrested by the US military and later sent back to their country of origin, but their supplies and ships were confiscated by the US government and sold to the American companies at discounted prices! That is how the US militarily blockades a foreign country to keep it poor and to starve out the country’s civilians from outside help so that they would join the US to overthrow their government!

    2) ROC is democratic and general election must be conducted to chose the government and president democratically, to govern the country in a time frame not longer than stapulated in their Constitution.
    That mean once the governments term was up in 4 years, a general election must be held, and parties or candidate that receive majority support will form the new government and president.
    To determine the majority of support, the polls must encompass mainland china where vast majority of the people is living.
    That makes the government of ROC in Taipei unconstitutional. That is simple logic.

    For those that don't know, the PRIC and the ROC are technically still at war, ditto for South and North Korea. For the PRC, the naval exercises are a clear warning to Taiwan that its economy is dependent on trade and that trade can be stopped at a blink of an eye. 30% of Taiwan's trade is with the mainland, so a sudden decline in that trade is a big problem for Taiwan's economy. When China's third carrier becomes operational and its fourth LHD is completed, it is capable of blockading and occupying Taiwan at any time. That could be as early as 2025 or 2026. So far, the US has shown no inclination to interfere with the PRC exercises and its carrier forces have steered far away. In all probability, the US submarine force is the frontline for the US and the Chinese are practicing their anti-submarine warfare detection and tactics. US military aid has not been robust as the US prioritizes Ukraine and Israel before Taiwan. The government in Taiwan should worry whether the US will actually physically participate in repeling the mainland should a conflict break out. So, far, the US has shown little in the way of a committed plan to repel the PRC if they try to occupy Taiwan. Today's PRC exercises are the Chinese poking Taiwan to see how sensitive it is to blockades of its trade and commerce.

    • @George-k6o9t
      @George-k6o9t День назад

      Absolutely! The Chinese Civil War between the PRC and the ROC was temporarily halted by the United States of America that PREVENTED its eventual and decisive conclusion in 1949 by blockading the island of Taiwan from the PRC forces that have driven the ROC off the mainland into seeking REFUGE on the island.
      Imagine what would have happened to the United States in 1865 if Great Britain or some other European World power in those times had stepped in between the American Civil War and blocked the armies of General sherman and Ulysses Grant from proceedings and marches any further past the Mason-Dixie line into the Confederate South to "protect" Jefferson Davis and his "Southern rebels"?

      Just think - Taiwan is only112 miles from the Chinese Mainland while Hawaii is 2,400 miles from the U.S. Mainland. While Taiwan has been part of China for hundreds of years BEFORE the arrival of the West, Hawaii has, at the same time, been an INDENPENDENT and FREE sovereign island KINGDOM until the U.S. CONQUERED and COLONIZED it, claiming it for itself while creating the myth that the Hawaiians are so enamored of the U.S. that they "lovingly" and "willingly" wanted to be part of the U.S.

    Lai Ching Te (LCT)’s speech is really unhelpful in maintaining peace in the Taiwan strait. The implication of his speech reported in more detail by the Guardian was that Taiwan should be the motherland not mainland China. The very short tail is trying to wag the very big body and head. No wonder China responded with this military exercise. The politicians in Washington need to use their influence to get LCT to tone down his rhetoric this is consistent with the latest response from Washington that the US adheres to the one China policy and they want the status quo. Is LCT in trying to change the status quo in trying to pull US into a war with China? I certainly hope not🤔
