As a fan of Dragon Age since Origins back in 2009, I have to say, I am enjoying what we've seen so far of Veilguard. Some of the designs are more cartoon/comic-book looking than I'd like, but the Mass Effect style combat is something I really enjoyed in Mass Effect. And I only got into playing Mass Effect because they were introducing the dialogue wheel in DA2, so I bought ME to see how it worked compared to the dialogue in Origins.
So far I am cautiously optimistic for this game. I'm fairly sure I'm going to enjoy playing it.

I'm also happy to see the combo system from Mass Effect in Veilguard, will definitely add a tactical nature to the combat

I know you and couple others on your reaction video's mention the Fade is suppose to be green. Actually, the breaches were green in Inquisition due to the Orb that was use. Different type of magic, why your Inky's hand is green and the rifts. The breaches in DATVG are a different color is Sola's uses a different magic. :)

I think you are right, definitely the type of magic used is affecting the colour and reaction of the Fade and I love that. To be honest I wasn't a bit fan of the green colour of the Fade in Inquisition and I quite like the blue

@@N7Kate the green looked more like a disease lol. But yea I like the bluish color more.

Very excited for this. Definitely want to see some mage gameplay at some point as that will be my canon Rook but it's great that we finally have some concrete info and footage to talk about. Not sure if it was just for this early part of the game but I love that the party was almost constantly talking with each other through this footage.

I would expect that they will release some gameplay soon showcasing each of the classes and maybe even a look at their specialisations. I have played a Rogue in Origins and Inquisition and a mage in Dragon Age 2, perhaps I may play as a warrior. Likely i'll end up playing the prologue a few times and trying out all the classes before I decide what I want to play for my full playthrough

My permanent resident is in Kirkwall. Female Hawke, clear face. Rogue, 2 daggers. It holds a special place in my heart. DA Origin was great. Forget the graphic’s…The story for matters.:) DA:I was well.. Not my style but solid. This game coming up I assume will be nothing like the trailer. It might be dramatic, dark..Times change but in many ways the same. I like the name change because I’ve never played mage or blood bath action😂. But I’m buying it after 2 weeks it comes out.
Non rpg- GTA Vice, I can’t wait for🤟🏼

I'm curious if there will be any in-game lore on why the demons we know from past games now look like they've all been hollowed out and tainted by the day-glo skeleton crew.
Combat-wise, despite us losing tactical cam (and maybe multiple skill palettes?) it very much seems updated to be in-line with current gaming. Going back to even DA:I seems a bit 'clunky' by today's standards.

Agreed, i loved switching between party members, and I will definitely miss it in the Veilguard, but I am glad we can at least control our companions and their powers to a degree. I hated the fact that Mass Effect Andromeda removed this ability, terrible decision

  • @ThatFont

Since my inquisitor is a Qunari and HOF is human mage (+ rogue Hawke) I’ll probably go for an mage!elf or warrior!dwarf. They haven’t shown a lot of warrior combat but it sounds really good this time around!
The momentum meter sounds excellent, somehow this is the first I’m hearing of it

Though I remain cautiously optimistic, my hopes are currently more positive than negative. This game is the natural evolution of what has been building since Dragon Age 2. The series has always held tactical elements, and it likely always will. This game is no different, it is simply presented in a starkly different manner. What people see as a lack of flexibility is merely a different representation of flexibility. So while in Dragon Age: Origins, one could have 10 seperate spells to fire off (for mages, for rogues/warriors it was more of a sustained effects deal with less abilities), there was still only one simple attack loop for non spells or abilities. With Dragon Age 2 the only thing that really changed for combat was the removal of traps and the combat was faster (as well as there was a heavy attack at the end of each attack loop). This was kept about the same for Dragon Age: Inquisition, with there now being a hard limit of 8 abilities/spells, yet still tactical gameplay for those who so choose. In this upcoming game, we can see that the focus has shifted away from spells/abilities, and is more so centered on everything else that happens in combat. So as I said earlier, while the attack loop for your character in Origins was quite simple, this game seems to have a multitude of different combinations and animations which all function in different ways. BioWare has said that there are combos, and that there is also an ultimate ability. This is not to mention that from screenshots of the warrior and mage classes, there also seems to be either a way to change your stance in battle, or your attack type (something of that nature, think of changing to melee combat for a mage, or changing from sword and shield to more heavy swordplay for a warrior). From what I've seen, the game also does emphasize resistances and weaknesses of effect type as opposed to pure damage like how Inquisition mostly handled combat, which I think is refreshing and definitely makes for more engaging gameplay. Finally, and a point you touch on, the being able to direct your companions abilities from the wheel I think is a good thing, if not for avoiding Andromeda's mistake, at least for providing some modicum of convenience, so as to not have to switch back and forth between companions in order to issue commands as I often find myself doing in Origins and 2. So yeah, overall, I think the combat looks fun, though I'd need to get my hands on it first before making a full judgement of whether it's good or bad.

the opening reminded you of god of war? it reminded me of the start of inquisition almost beat for beat of the first 10min of the game. instead of running into liliana you run into the ice mage. and you can hear the echoes of verric talking to solas while you fight demons just like hearing the guy in the rift asking who we are while we fight that last demon in inquisition in the opening stage

  • @ConnorLonergan

I don't think the weakness/restictions will be a skill but weither like in Inquisition where we turn in sample stuff like in Inquisition and if you turned enough of the said samples you unlock more infor of a creature or the game doesn't show as this is a toturial showing the basics for the player

I think for the scale down of the Pride Deamon is because as you see back in Inquisition when we where fighting the Pride Deamon it looked as if we are just poking it's legs. The smaller size it now actually looks like we are attacking the whole thing so scale wise I prefer Veilguard.

No we dont. But we do expect it to look kinda similar to the same universe? Minrathous here looks like night city.
Not like a magically advanced civilization, like a tech heavy one. That's the problem. Not that it doesnt look like ferelden.

    • @prodtetch
      @prodtetch 3 месяца назад

@@johnathanera5863 There is no future tech in Minrathous. Everything present is explainable by magic. Glowing/floating city signs? Magic. Floating towers? Magic. Red bolts fired from said towers? Still magic. It doesn't look like Night City, it just looks like how Tevinter has been described to look from all accounts stretching over 3 games. If you don't personally like it, that's fine, but you can't pretend as if it isn't entirely possible within the boundaries of what we know about Dragon Age and its magic.
