When the entire country was fighting against the Britishers and Gandhiji had launched Quit India Movement. There were only two forces who did not join the movement, it was Muslim League and Hindu Mahasabha. On the contrary Mohammad Ali Jinnah of Muslim League and Syama Prasad Mukherjee of Hindu Mahasabha were running a coalition government in Bengal and Sindh and Syama Prasad Mukherjee was the Finance Minister in that government. Let me also enlighten you with the fact that it is the same Syama Prasad Mukherjee who founded Bhartiya Janata Party. BJP stands exposed !

It is true that Mukherjee opposed Quit India Movement(along with Muslim League, Communists and RSS) but the reason is not told here. He opposed gandhi in Quit India Movement as Gandhi wanted britishers to transfer all powers to Muslim League where Muslim League would then form a government to represent India.

Secondly, The britishers didnt wanted to give power to Muslim League, this is something what Gandhi ji proposed.
Also Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League ran coalition governments(gathbandan ki sarakar) and both of those *Political Parties* opposed Quit India Movement for one reason or another.
