I bought a Bahia one, I love that it has such a deep bass sound (and powerful vibrations) for a small size, so it's easier to carry than a big drum. I used it past week-end in FSS base workshop, it was great! I also have a 22' buffalo drum (+ a smaller one). I made recently some DIY for it: 2 pieces of wood which can assemble together at 90° to make a stand for it, so the 22 drum is horizontal and transformed into a kind of pow wow drum (the 22 one that I bought also has a very deep and powerful sound). I inaugurated it (using it as pow wow drum, played by all people at the same time) with 6 other people in a cave 10 days ago, that was so great 🤩 BTW, I completely remade the roping of the 22 buffalo drum (it was the "old" kind with plastic in middle on sisal rope), using the same technique that Remo use now, taking the Bahia drum as model (I untied the rope enough so I could see how it was done. I also added an extra layer of rope in the middle + also with cotton layer wrapped around it, to make a really comfortable handle. This improved a lot the playing comfort! I did the same with the Bahia one, even me who has small hands I found that the handle diameter was too small.
I use the finger muting a lot. Adds a lot of versatility and I think of it more like a hi hat where you can totally control the exact length or sustain of each note. Good stuff.
Great review. Which drum creates the largest feeling of vibration as you are playing it? I'm not experienced in music... Is bass or sustain that you guys talked about the thing that creates vibration?
@@stuartfreeborn1986 Both create a feeling of vibration. It's really more up to preference on what you want out of the drum. Sustain will vibrate for a longer time after it's hit, Which the 22" drum would give you. And the black Bahia drum will give a shorter vibration but packs a bit more punch initially. There is also the 16" regular buffalo drum which we don't currently own, but that might be a good balance of both the drums we play! I'd personally say go for the 22" drum if vibration is what you're after!
Do you know of any way to tighten the head on the 22? I have one, and it actually rattles when struck, regardless of the velocity of the beater. Four different beaters, same result. I’ve been drumming since 1990 and have two of the 16’s as well… one of them has a sloppy head, the other is great. I’m wondering if a heat gun could be used as a permanent solution. Or, I could pull the heads and replace them with hides, but that kind of defeats the purpose. Any ideas?
@@gr8northernpike Hmm, I’m not really sure if there is a way to do that, sorry. I haven’t had this issue yet with my drum, nor has my brother. I will look into it a little bit more and if I can find any information I’ll let you know!
I appreciate this review friends from afar. I have the 16 inch, black model; super comfortable💯I agree with your insight. Would be amazing to drum circle with you🎶♾️
I would say it's more down to your preference! If you want something with a lot of bass and a big punch, I would recommend the Bahia drum. If your looking for something with a little more sustain and versatility perhaps (like playing with your hands and fingers), then I'd recommend the standard buffalo drum! I currently do not own a standard 16 inch, but I can say I love the sound of my standard 22 inch! It's great to play with your hands or with the mallet it comes with. The Bahia drum doesn't sound as good played with hands, but it can be done! As far as the bass goes, I would say the Bahia and the 22 inch are very close to being the same as we demonstrate in the video! Hope this helps! Enjoy your drum when you get it!
@@aaronmykemusic I’m thinking of going with the Bahia Bass, I want something to start the beat at a drum circle and want to mainly use the beater with it.
Absolutely! I have some other videos that I play it a lot harder in! for this review we tried not to clip the audio from the mics we had on our shirts!
Thank you SOOO much for this demonstration! Just what I needed! The only problem is that I want both of them now...😂

Thanks guys, great demo of these two drums.
Thank you, guys! 😃🙏💫 I recently got one like the black one, haven't received it yet. Can't wait 🥳 Thank you!
You’re welcome! Enjoy your drum!
Thanx guys, very helpful!

Those sound so sweet
fun to listen to them in this video. hopefully you will upload full blown songs and jams with these two drums
Thank you! And there will definitely be more to come!

@@aaronmykemusicthanks much. I hope you never have this problem… I wish Remo would address this.
YOU HAVE THE 22 THAT IS BIGGER THAN THE 16 SO LOGICALLY THE SUSTAIN IS MORE OON THIS THAN THE 16'' STANDARD
Yes I believe it would be. Although I have not personally tested out the standard 16" drum yet!
are there any that produce close to 43hz?
I’m actually not 100% sure about that, but I will look into it!

You'll love it! It's amazing how much bass and sound comes from such a small drum!
Pound that drum , don’t be afraid, let that spirit out in you !!! It’s okay , it’ll take a bulldozer to break it

Shamans say you need to play it with respect and dont pound really hard on the center

Use your finger to make a sound after each drum beat , let your fingernail touch the back from the vibration
