This is in reference to invasion of tibet in 1960s when hardship and sorrow beyond imagination was heaped upon the tibetans. The pain of being a refugee, having lost everything: country, property, religion, friends, children, spouses etc The help of western nations and especially India and Nepal was like sunshine that brought solace in their sorrowbound life
