Therefore, while the rest of the world views us as two nations, we view Korea as one nation, two governments. So in our eyes, the only border Korea has is with China.

I think the Suriname flag having small white gaps between the bigger stripes threw you off as well.
Yemen's flag is just pure Pan-Arab colors, think of it like Egypt without the eagle. The flag was designed after the Arab Liberation flag used during the Egyptian Revolution of 1952 and the Arab Revolt flag used by the Hejazi army during WWI. You can see a huge Arab Revolt flag flying in Aqaba, Jordan. It is currently the eighth-tallest flagpole (seventh-tallest freestanding) in the world but was once the tallest free-standing flagpole when it was built in 2004 before being surpassed by Turkmenistan in 2008. These two flags would also inspire the flags of Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, SADR, UAE, Sudan, Palestine, and Jordan.
