If they see mom/dad caring for the little ones all the time (as they should!), the bigger kids get jealous sometimes. If she feels like she’s “included” in the sense that mom-a girl like me-has 3 babies and I have 3 babies too, we are just being normal girls/mommies and this is normal so I shouldn’t feel bad. No doubt the mom will be telling her to get her little babies too when she is caring for her newborns and the little girl will make it into a game and copy mommy instead of being jealous.

Please allow her the choice to help out if she wants to. I was the oldest of 5 and was obligated to help with everything, bottles, diaper changing, potty training, bathing, watching over them at the park, etc, I was told it was my responsibility to help as the olde sister, robbing me of my own childhood.

I saw it happening with my eldest when I had my younger 2 when he was 10 and 11 and I backed off. He's been much happier and more relaxed since I stopped asking him to step in with the other baby like a second daddy. Babies 15m apart it gets rough sometimes and I still ask his and his brothers help but I didn't want him to have that on his shoulders. Kids deserve a childhood.
