    How'd that turn out? The one and only time that I used 2 surejel packages and doubled the ingredients, it was Blackberry and it came out like a syrup. Is that what you were going for, a syrup consistency?

    • @LittleHillHomesteadGa
      @LittleHillHomesteadGa  9 дней назад

      It thickened to a thin gel. It isn't jelly but it is thicken than syrup. I love it because you can pour it and it stays in form enough without running.

    I made a batch of this it's absolutely delicious. However it doesn't seem to set like a jelly and is really loose. Is this normal? Should I re-cook and ad more pectin ? I'm not sure where it went wrong but I followed everything to a tee. I also wonder if it just needs more time to set up?

    • @LittleHillHomesteadGa

      Hello, i have a question and don't know where else to go. I have only recently started canning, and I am having some issues. I've only been canning for a few months so I am sure I am doing something wrong. I started making dog food and canning it so I can save it. The problem i am having is siphoning. Every time I've made it, 3 times so far, I get siphoning in some of my jars and it makes a mess. I am leaving 1 inch to 1.5 inches headspace and it still happens. I live at 4600 feet and am using 15 lbs of pressure on my canner. It seems to have to be that high to get the jiggler to jiggle. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @LittleHillHomesteadGa
      @LittleHillHomesteadGa  2 дня назад

      @@shayanawolfe8435 Try letting the pressure canner cool longer before you open the lid. I get this if they have a large change in temp too fast.

    • @shayanawolfe8435
      @shayanawolfe8435 День назад

      Thank you for the suggestion. I'm just not sure how to cool the canner any slower. Once the process has reached enough time at pressure, i turn off the heat on my stove and leave it alone until everything is completely cool to the touch. In the kitchen. Is there anything else you can think of? This is wasting a lot of resources i cant afford. Thank you again.@LittleHillHomesteadGa
