This is so fun I did this with my class at music class ( which sometimes don’t behave) But this time felt better I felt alive, for the first time I naturally smiled. Not having to fake it But also not being me for other people, I’ve gotta say, thank you this video helped me a lot 🎶🎼🎵
I’m glad to hear that. You may want to visit ukeability.org where you can search songs based on the chords they know. It isn’t updated very often, but still a great resource.
I remember in 6th grade in my elementary school (yes my elementary school had a 6th grade lol) in our music class, we had to do a project where on the ukulele we would have to pick a song, and play it on the ukulele. And I remember using this exact video, thank you so much.
My class was learning ukelele this year, but I had been playing already for 2/3 years. Since I found this channel, I’ve been doing even better! Amazing videos!
Played this in music the other day, I didn’t really understand it, my teacher lets us borrow ukuleles and now that I’m replaying this I understand this way better. Love the tutorial
I know it isn’t the answer you’re looking for, but there isn’t a right answer. Imagine Dragons hasn’t used ukulele to my knowledge and it’s just a Play Along. Play whichever one sounds better to you.
That's why we make these...so they can be used by schools,. community groups/clubs, and individuals. We have over 850 of these videos covering a lot of different styles of music. So thanks for using the video in your class and at home!
i learnt how to play it in year 4 and i really enjoyed it so my parents bought me a ukulele but its been almost 5 years and i havent touched it since then so when my school started learning it last term, ive decided to learn it all again. These videos have helped alot however i do wish a strumming guide was on aswell but aside from that, i love them
Thanks for playing along; there are tutorials linked for all of the songs over the past 3 years or so where I talk about strumming patterns for those that need them.
If you like Imagine Dragons, you also may like: ruclips.net/video/XO9YisL6HBM/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/0FZq4jDKlo8/видео.html as well as these by Andy Ramos: ruclips.net/video/imBRfA5FHTA/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/I_Zxz90mH5I/видео.html. My next play along will be Bad Liar.
Yes you can...and anything works. I’ve had a few comments that have said, “There’s no ukulele on this recording”...and I don’t publish those comments because they miss the point...people who play ukulele want to play songs they love even if they didn’t have ukulele. And as Ruth B is playing a piano, anything that you play as long as it is the right chord at the right time...the pattern doesn’t matter.
This is really good! The chords match the rhythm and it’s easy to play! Once u do it few times it’s really fun and easy! I usually do about 10 minutes of a lesson but now I wanna keep doing it!! This is really great!
I teach ukulele to my students (currently 5th grade, but middle school in the past) using these videos. The original idea--not mine, but from Dr. Jill Reese--was to create resources that were accessible for beginning players and could use any kind of music, but especially "current" music, which is missing in most other ukulele resources, for the issue of copyright above all. I (initially) never thought these videos would be used by people other than other music teachers...but in truth, there are community groups (adults) who use them, and individual players who either just want to play along with a song--but also those learning how to play a song to cover it. I've heard from plenty of (adult) players that are not beginners that they just enjoy going to the directory of songs (free...ukeplayalongs.com) and playing with a song on their own because it's fun and isn't stressful. That's all pretty cool. So...I'm glad you are finding the videos to be a good resource, and thanks for using the videos on the channel.
So many schools including mine are joining in and learning the ukulele with this video! My music teacher has never played the ukulele so we're all learning together! :)
There is also a strong kazoo presence in the ukulele world. One person in our local group hands out kazoos to everyone and chooses two or three songs a week that feature the kazoo! (I mention kazoo because of your user name). I have another Imagine Dragons song on my "to do" list at the moment.
Thanks, but it isn't a tutorial, it is a play along. A tutorial, in my mind, teaches you how to play the chords and strum. A play along is simply used to play along with!
Anyone did this in school? I did in church drive primary school Mah teacher was Mr.Goodwin I played the C chord my friends played the F chord and the Am chord
I can give a tip, if the am is behind the f then instead of putting ur index finger on am put ur middle finger cus then u can put ur index finger on the top where the tother part of the f should go! It’s really easy!
The videos do show a fade before the chord changes; but the other skill these videos (all of them by similar creators) causes you to listen to the music and hear the changes. As for strum patterns, they are intentionally not included. There’s a whole post in the community area of this channel. It goes something like: There isn’t one correct strumming pattern, as there are many patterns that can work for the song. What is most important is keeping a steady beat with whatever pattern you are using and changing chords at the same time, all while playing the correct chords. If you need a suggestion for a strumming pattern and can’t find one on your own, check out the suggested pattern that is in the tutorial that is linked in the description (most videos over the past years have a tutorial). Or, you can check out the post on strumming patterns in the community area of this forum. ruclips.net/channel/UC6jZYLoYuV1CxY4Stzm6mggcommunity
To anyone wondering about strumming patterns, I've found that (D DUT DU (Down, down up tap, down up)) works well
Thanks for adding that suggestion! There is no "right answer" so it is good to offer lots of alternatives that work for people!
sorry to say but i think its down up tap up down up
@@liethan1119 Im sure its fine and since different things work for different people im glad you found something that fits you! :)
Merci ..
@Gucci Frogs what's "tap"? 🧐

I've played this so much my fingers hurt and the word "thunder" sounds weird but it's fun
I need help
Do you need help because you are playing it too much, or is there something that we can help you with in terms of playing technique?
TheBlab Army try getting a pic ((I cant spell lol))

I play ukulele when I was in 4th grade at Longleaf Elementary.
I hope you’re still playing!
I seen this in school when doing ukulele.
Thanks for stopping by!
Does anyone have a reccomend strum pattern?
There is no “right” answer. Start with DDDDU and work from there.
Ukulele is my favourite instrument now...
There is also a strong kazoo presence in the ukulele world. One person in our local group hands out kazoos to everyone and chooses two or three songs a week that feature the kazoo! (I mention kazoo because of your user name). I have another Imagine Dragons song on my "to do" list at the moment.
is there a strumming pattern or do i just match it with the words?
There’s no right answer. There’s a whole post about strumming patterns in the community area of this channel
My teacher in 3rd grade for VAPA we tried this same exact song with Ukeleles
I'm glad you are using the videos at school! That's why they were created!
I love that song❤
This is a very popular play along.
Yay
Glad you enjoyed it.
This is the first tutorial that is true about its name
Thanks, but it isn't a tutorial, it is a play along. A tutorial, in my mind, teaches you how to play the chords and strum. A play along is simply used to play along with!
Os my favorite song❤❤
Glad you like it!

@@ukeplayalongs cool!(sorry late reply)
I love it so much!!
Thanks!
I don’t really know how to play how many strums do you do each time?
Find a pattern you like, and change when the indicator changes.
I'm doing great with it on my ukulele I just can't to the f note ;-; but it's good thx for all the help :D
Keep working on it...it will eventually come!
I can give a tip, if the am is behind the f then instead of putting ur index finger on am put ur middle finger cus then u can put ur index finger on the top where the tother part of the f should go! It’s really easy!
I love this song
I'm glad it was available for you!
thanks
You are very welcome!
What is the strumming pattern?
DDU UDU or DD DUDU these are two srumming patterns that I use.
Kian Cibulka thx! I will try that!
can you please give me a shoutout
Not during a video, but certainly here. “Shout out to Gordon Gaming”
@@ukeplayalongs thanks!
Not in comment in a video pls
It’s harder for me because the song is so fast, getting the hang of it, though!
Don’t forget that you can use the gear icon to slow things down!
ukeplayalongs I know, but didn’t try it, maybe i will
I find it difficult to know what strum pattern to use, or how many beats each chord will get because there's nothing to indicate it's going to change.
