- This is how to change the oil on your Triumph Street Twin. This may be very similar if not the same for other models and oil changes in general.
Many Thanks
Triumph recommend that you prefill the oil filter with new oil before fitting.
True, you can do but its not an issue if you dont as it will self fill.
@@maximusvr46 The engine runs without oil pressure until filter is filled.
So there is a good reason to fill the filter before fitting.
@@ovegustafsson1791haynes manual also tells you to fill the engine with oil before fitting the new oil filter to avoid creating an Air lock between the oil pump and the filter.
Always fill the new oil filter before installing it. You want quick oil pressure. You can’t just hand tighten the oil filter on this design, you can’t get your hand around it. Using the filter socket is the way to do it. Usually after filter seal ring contacts the base, an additional 3/4 turn will do the job.
Well put together video, nice and simple, many thanks👍
Thank you mate!
Thank you for detailed explanation, I will have confidence now to change mine
Super helpful. Thank you so much.
Nice one, thanks man!
looks like someone over tightened your oil filter ;looking forward to doing mine with the center stand which should help with access ,i think triumph should have made access a bit easier .
This was a bike I had in for its first service after its run in oil change so its come from the dealer like that!
I wish they had a dip stick in stead of that sight glass, I can’t see anything in it😮
What are the wrenches used and where to get them ? Thanks
the oil filter should only be hand tight? the one you took off here was way way tighter than that. ditto w/ the oil drain plug...just a bit more than hand tight?
Yes its was tight i even said that in the clip lol! Drain plug usually torque to spec or nicely nipped.
10nm only
I’ve asked this of a few videos can you actually see the oil level through the sight glass? I can’t see it at all😮
Yes if the correct amount of oil is in the engine then you will see the oil in the sight glass. The bike has to be standing upright, not on the side stand.
do you know the PartNumber for that Oil Filter removal tool?
No sorry, its just a part of a standard removal kit off ebay / amazon with various sizes. Same size as a suzuki filter.
