Showing my little nieces the first season of SpongeBob has been the biggest treat to me since canned bread. after noticing that they watch nothing but RUclips shorts I forced them off that shit and pulled up season one, and now they have been singing the intro like I did when I was their age and it actually brings a tear to my eye, moments like those are ones to truly cherish.
I worked at a gas station for about a year, and my favorite part of the job was all the different types of folks I'd get to see come in.. One of my favorites was an older man, maybe in his 70s. He was pretty jolly, and he had a Spongebob lanyard on. So I complimented him on it, and told him that I was obsessed with the show growing up like many kids. His face lit up and he said "Oh I LOVE SPONGEBOB! My favorite line from his is (in a Spongebob voice) 'Mr Krabs, I am so confused!'. Have a wonderful day!" I hope I can be like him when I'm older.
My grandfather is a Nashville style pedal steel-ist, but I recall him watching cartoons with my younger sisters then by ear playing all the slide parts from SpongeBob on his Zum.
@Killbayne A lot of those folks are in their 20's and 30's. Spongebob has also been translated into an absolute metric FUCKTON of languages. AND it's been around for two and a half decades. You'd borderline have to be amish not to know or grow up on Spongebob
@@Reperanger7 when SpongeBob first aired it was very much a show for elementary-aged kids. Hard to understand these days, but in 1999 no 15 year olds were openly watching SpongeBob. You watched South Park, The Simpsons and Space Ghost. Only cartoons allowed for teenagers.
I'm with you. PaulyBerry is the real deal. Super precise and tight but still just the right amount of hang loose - just like Spongebob and the fabulous Blue Hawaiians 😁.
oh my god. this is the best cover of this I think I will ever hear in my entire life. I unironically listen to the SpongeBob soundtrack on Spotify and I enjoy the Hawaiian lap guitar music and you fucken nailed it dude, spot on
@@paulyberryThe Nostalgia for this show is so powerful, man. I was only allowed to get away with watching it at my cousin's house as a kid. Makes this that much more special.
YOU ... are AMAZING. As soon as the rest of my 73 year old swan-neck deformed fingers get fixed, I'm getting back to work on learning to play the SX lap steel I bought when I fell in love with this music. Seriously, when I grow down, I want to be JUST like you! :)
Finally someone figured out the tuning! I knew C6 and A6 didn’t work for this had me tripping out for a long time lmao! Great job though this sounds exactly like the record!
As someone from Hawaii I bet the original composers of the song would be proud to see how much coverage their song is getting from this show. Good job!
Man, I've been listening to this song among many others for five years, it never occured to me that someone would EVER play it. I just discovered your channel, I'll never be bored ever again. You're a killer lap steel and instrument player !
i fell like its coming back from the depth of my memory. feels like sunday morning laying in front of TV just enjoying spongebob with nothing to think about. good ol days
You must be an absolute perfectionist to have that melody so accurate! After 17 years on RUclips, it's always surprising to watch covers that get absolutely EVERY note from the original. Brilliant work!!
This is one of those songs that makes me wanna cry my eyes out, and then laugh 2 seconds later because I remember a joke from the show. I'm a 1995 baby, so this show was very special to me as a kid.
Words could not describe how thankful i'd be if you'd perform Kamakani B. It's my absolute favorite slow song in the entire soundtrack, and i know you would do it tremendous justice!
I can barely contain my enthusiasm as I write this. You are SO GOOD on that lap steel. This song also brings back loads of good vibes and memories. Remarkable talent right here. PLEASE NEVER STOP MAKING THESE. You are amazing. I thank you again for this, and have a good one!
youve brought me back brother. back to a happier place. thank you. and not even to my childhood watching spongebob, but specifically the way i felt watching seasons 1 and 2 which carries a different vibe to the rest of the show, 3-5/6 is great too, but it just didnt hit a special way 1 and 2 did
THIS IS PERFECTION! Brought me back to 8 years old, getting up early on saturdays, grabbing a bowl of cereal, and plopping down to watch everyones favorite sponge. Thank you for this one, man. Never stop making music. 🍍🫧🧽

Boy do I LOVE the cries of a steel guitar. whether it be an old George strait song or traditional Hawaiian I just cant get enough
Why does this bring me unmeasurable joy
When I was a kid I sailed on a square rigged ship with the creator of spongebob to Catalina Island.
I will never forget that experience
This was crazy and brought back memories
This is what i heard and what i feel when i woke up in the morning when i was little.
“Today’s the big day, Gary!” - SpongeBob’s very first lines.
I always love the bass playing on these videos. On the surface the parts seem fairly simple, but the note choices are pretty neat
I swear Nickelodeon if you even TOUCH this video...
Good thing Nickelodeon does not own this song.
Those harmonics are incredible
I just today randomly decided to watch the first episode again! And now, a few hours later, the tune pops up in my feed. This is perfect.🙌
