As a Pennsylvanian I was so ready to call him out on the misinformation. They actually came from native Americans version of a corn cake which they sweetened with honey. Apparently George Washington loved them and were his favorite food.
That man has killer style, always so well groomed - and nice! I don’t know a clue about wrestling but have been so impressed every time I’ve seen him interviewed. And it takes a pretty cool guy to shine next to Idris… and Ollie!
Cena is genuinely hilarious lol. Dude has a killer sense of humor. I freaking lost it when Idris asked him if the pancake story was true, and he just went "That is not" 😂🤣😂☠️
That's why he was perfect for Peacemaker. The humour varies between broad and subtle, then it veers into tragedy. But if he can film the opening credits (dancing) without cracking a smile, then he can do just about anything.
@Triillmiixx Exactly. If nobody else steps up, I'll be the one who's more extroverted but if someone is more extroverted than me, I'll gladly sit back & eat, just like what Idris did. It's exhausting to try to speak when someone like John is always seeking the spotlight & dominating it.
I bet this is 25 yrs of just hanging w the guys, licker room banter. Lots of professional athletes are very funny, lots of down time in sports. Lots of bullsh*ting goes on in locker rooms, warmup, travel etc.
John Cena is one of the real ones, he can just enjoy the moment and make people feel comfortable. He definitely has a skill for reading people and acting respectful and fun. Everytime a movie with him comes out i absolutely love his performance and what he does.
Bro when they were talking about stacking all the food you could idris coming up with ideas then is like oh yeah this crazy guy Ollie is here to do it for me 😂😂😂
I wouldn't call him an idiot so much as innocent and juvenile in his sense of humor (in a legitimately intelligent way mind you). I think Idris recognized that Ollie is that guy and he's being authentic in a way that's easy to find funny and appreciate.
I think it's a big plus to both Idris and John that they immediately homed in on Ollie being the silly guy with a good sense of humor who is game for whatever the bit is.
@thefumexxl Ollie is definitely not an idiot. His creativity is off the charts. I would say he is more on the wild side, just pure untamed spirit not afraid of tackling new things. The dude ate insects, expired canned rattlesnake, Satan Toe cotton candy. chicken wings soaked in Da Bomb sauce, eating and drinking poo tea and many more.
People forget John Cena was a rapper... he would freestyle off the dome all the time. I think that adds to his ability to improvise his jokes on the fly.
@framos9914 do you feel left out of the joke, or do you just spend your days telling random people to shut up? Also, I idtenify as a cunt, not a bitch. Be well. Cheers. Such big feelings in such a little person. It's so cute.
Never forget Cena has granted over 650 wishes for Make-a-Wish, the world record. No one is perfect but holy hell I've got a lot of respect for him. He and Idris Elba work well together, Heads of State turned out to be a really fun movie.
@JMBBrasil I've watched it and I too thought it would be a background kinda movie. I was wrong. These two together just work :) movie is a fun watch. I recommend it
The pancake joke is actually about the Earl of Sandwich naming Sandwich. Which is a true story. So that joke is some premium level stuff recrafting a real fact that sounds like a joke, into an actual joke that sounds like the real fact haha great stuff
Its even better because John's story is a 80% truth, but likely unintentionally so. The modern American-Style pancake was brought to the US by Dutch settlers in the late 1700s to early 1800s, and likely popularized in their Pennsylvanian settlements.

Honestly we don't do Donuts, but we do Chocolate croissants, we do Pain du Chocolate and so many other pastries. Doughnuts are specifically filled with Jam, custard, ring Doughnuts with sugar, or An iced Doughnut, and ate either with afternoon tea or a Pudding/treat after the evening meal
@taahiramcgeeno, some are my relatives and they are German. The English couldn’t say “ Deutsch” their dialect is German from the Rhineland. The Dutch were in old New York
cheap coffee goes good with pancakes and a meal like this though cena doesnt eat meals like this he looked like a girl picking at his plate (obviously better coffee goes better)
My God, Cena is hilarious. The most British-American humour I've ever heard, such a great dry wit that hits with Brits, yet combined with that outgoing american confidence. What an interesting guy!
The main reasons Beans on Toast is a staple is because its cheap, filling, and conveniet. Students eat it because they get protein, carbs and some vegetables. It is a nostalgic lunch when you're home on school breaks. Many people either do Beans and/or Scrambled eggs on toasted bread, or Spaghetti/hoops And during late autumn through winter exchange for soup
It was so funny cuz his impression is like the exact same as mine, in concept it is so plain sounding and doesn't compliment the bread at all. But I guess its just dependent on the sauce
I like the fact he understood the context around beans and toast. It was a product of rationing during the war. It isn't a secret or anything, but shows he's a probably a curious person.
I met John Cena 22 years ago when I was 13. He was soo nice and funny genuinely! I had a shirt on that said "Boys are stupid throw rocks at them" and it had two little stick figures one girl throwing a rock at a boy. And I'll always remember he said "I love your shirt and always have that mind set, I'm serious." It was awesome!
If you want I can be more specific @olivender420it was in Nantucket Massachusetts at an air show showing the blue angles. They had some celebs there, including the upcoming wrestler John Cena. It was 2004 I believe.
John Cena seems like such a fun dude to hang with, polite, intelligent, great sense of humour and open to trying new things without hesitation. The Jolly channel is the gift that keeps giving
@Thrillhouse89fair warning it’s raunchy in terms of comedy. 😂Bad Friends is possibly one of the most popular comedy podcasts out right now according to the numbers. Zach Efron is in it too. They were promoting a movie that one of the comedians was in with them. “Ricky Stanicky” is the movie.
Not John Cena looking like buff Jack Skellington 😂 Now, to be fair, they’re also dealing with a guy who’s survived on MREs. So, just about anything tastes good to him at this point lol
One of the reasons I love Ollie is that no matter who he's speaking to, a friend, his dad, a celebrity, a famous chef, a complete stranger, he just speaks his mind, no filter, very authentic without being mean. And it seems it always makes people really comfortable, like Heston. It looks in this video like Idris is just joking with his boys 😆
This is up there with the Heston (still my favourite interview ever, not just Jolly, like ever) video of just how great Ollie is at creating that perfect energy flow. This was not an interview, they did not even mention the movie a single time lol they were just there to have a good time and I cannot help but think for these guys on a press junket how much fun something like this one would be compared to the usual same questions.
How is John Cena so incredibly charming? I've never seen any actual interviews or other longer segments of him talking before, but this is not what I expected at all. He always seemed like a chill dude, but he is competing for being the chillest of them all I'd say.
Earl sandwich comes to mine. As does count douche bag. In the immortal words of Saturday Night Live, give me a sandwich and a douche bag and there’s nothing I can do.
I'm 42 and moved to the US from the UK when I was 11, I still eat beans on toast. I do toast, a little butter, some marmite, beans and then top it with some shredded cheese.
Bro combined historical facts (pancakes being introduced by the Dutch), the true story of an Earl inventing a food named after him (Sandwiches), and made it into a 100% convincing story on the spot.
For the non-Americans you don’t always have to have pancakes in your American breakfast. You can have French toast or waffles and you can have your eggs made any type of way you want. We also get a choice of either two strips of bacon and two strips of sausages or one of each. We also have a little mini fruit salad with our American breakfast and you can have coffee or tea or orange juice or apple juice.
@TexasSkyGirl yeah I was born in SoCal and lived in California & Nevada for my whole life never been to the south besides Texas as an infant, but we have biscuits and gravy over here too. I forgot to mention we also have fried chicken and waffles.
But that UFC fighter, Paddy Pimbett was right. English brek is superior cause it comes with bacon AND sausage. Honestly rate it 3rd-Turkish breakfast is elite.
In texas we eat all kinds of carbs with our breakfast. Grits, toast, rolls, buttered bread, biscuits with honey or jelly, biscuits with gravy. I often eat pancakes with syrup by themselves, the only time i eat pancakes with something else is if i got to a diner for breakfast.
@pureamateur649 Did you not read the part of my comment where I said you can have one of each?? Meaning you can have one strip of bacon and one sausage. Also, those black sausages that look like hockey pucks looks disgusting. I hate all types of mushrooms, even though sliced up small ones. They look like dead snails so I’m gonna give English breakfast a negative thousand. Also beans is not a breakfast dish. It is a lunch or dinner dish and Busches baked beans will always be better than the Heinz beans that you guys get in a can. Nothing beats homemade beans.
Blueberry’s and tangerine or a Granny Smith with cinnamon and a bit of full fat Greek yogurt for a value start up mornings. 2 boiled eggs and a slice of rye bread with a hint mustard for the slow digesting carbs. Green tee on the side. Coffee at about 11 or a little later.
9:02 The look of pure disgust in John's eyes when he learnt we Brits don't have doughnuts in the morning. I could hear the eagle screech and Star Spangled Banner blaring in his head.
The main gamemaster from the glass cannon podcast, Troy lavalee, grew up in Boston with the Cena family, I believe John is a little younger but Troy said his brothers (and entire family )were the "cool kids that nobody could hate because they were all too nice and good looking." Troy's not one to bullshit for bullshit's sake (Boston, remember), so I really believe JC is one of the coolest celebs around, proof in his make a wish tally and his opinions towards that program.
Dunno if black pudding is compared to Spanish Blood Sausage. Here in Colombia, our version its called Morcilla, used to be done with rice soaked on pigs blood stuffed inside pigs intestines. Nowadays, blood is processed, dried to powder, then you add hot water, as for the casing, now is syntetic, but the ritual for preparation is almost as traditional as it used to be.
I read an article once about an experiment done in England with school children where the children were top have a cereal or porridge breakfast and then took a test at school. A week or so later the children were given a breakfast of bean on toast and then given a similar test at school. The children, especially the girls, did much better on the test. Something about the protein with the beans gets the brain working more.
@rudysal1429 as neither an american or english, english beans on toast is better and for breakfast is way better. proper beans with tortilla isnt a breakfast item but theyre still good
@rudysal1429 What on earth are "proper beans"? There's so many types of bean. And just beans with a tortilla sounds more depressing than baked beans on toast.
I tried Marmite when I dated a British girl and the way Jon describes it is spot on. That was so sour and savory that I felt it tingle in the back of my head 😅
I have heard about John Cena here and there but never seen him interacting like this so this was my introduction to this man. I have to say this man is a man of culture, has insane charisma and a great sense of humour. Liked this a lot, I was thoroughly entertained.
Yes I am an American and he is super fun and so real! No BS with him! ❤ but I do like beans on toast!!! Some soak up the bean juice and some is a bit crunchy perfect combination!!! I could try the spread tho it has a weird smell lol
Dieta mediterránea: Pan tostado con tomate rallado, aceite de oliva y Jamón serrano. uno de 100 ejemplos. Mediterranean diet: Toasted bread with grated tomato, olive oil, and Serrano ham. Just one of 100 examples.
Regarding oatmeal… Oatmeal is the every day. Instant oatmeal if you are lazy, stove top oatmeal if you want the best. Overnight oats if you are trendy. Oatmeal is delicious and sweet and creamy and nutty and can be dressed up anyway. As John said, the pictured breakfast of Americans is a treat. It’s a weekend breakfast if you make it at home, or the breakfast you have while you go on vacation. Otherwise most of us eat oatmeal, or breakfast cereal with milk.
Nowadays I'm more particular to a nice breakfast croissant sandwich, but growing up oatmeal was 100% the go to breakfast food for me (if not cereal with milk)
Instant oatmeal is also great if you're hungry before bed but don't want something too crazy that'll mess with your sleep. It's a reasonably healthy stomach spackle.
I just watched Heads of State a couple of days ago and seeing this is quite a treat. John Cena and Idris Elba couldn't have made a better on screen duo!
After pausing to read the “pharmacy ad” I belly laughed when it said to call your doctor if your stomach starts singing the star spangled banner. Hahaha!
Very good video! I got turned on to Beans and Toast when Desmond’s started airing in the US. It makes a great quick meal. It also keeps you satiated and gives an energy boost!
This happened to me on a plane flying to London with an elderly English couple beside me who I made plane buddies with. I’m Jamaican, so we do tea the British way, but I used to drink tea black with sugar at the time because I had to cut out milk for a while. The man was simultaneously aghast, incredibly offended and devastatingly heartbroken that I had done that to tea. He borderline mini lectured me 😂😂😂
@bcowsie I'm a dual citizen, so my British parent was the one who always made the hot tea growing up. Learning that I didn't have to drink it with milk was a revelation to me! I really just prefer it without.
I'm not a fan of donuts but the donuts at Doughnut Plant are always soooo pretty! They usually have very interesting flavors. We stopped by with a few friends who were visiting NYC and one of them got the creme brulee donut and said it was divine!!
When he first got to WWE he had an unfunny generic gimmick. It wasn’t working and he was just about to be released. They were on a European tour and Cena was just messing around with the guys doing some hilarious freestyle rapping. Stephanie McMahon heard him and asked if he could do that as a gimmick. The Dr. of Thuganomics gimmick was born and led to a hall of fame wrestling career and to being a famous actor as well. None of that happens without him being naturally funny.
@kenlangston3451With how high of a bar his debut win is, no doubt if he didn't explore and experiment he would've been a cookie cutter wrestler and it just shows how he likes the challenge when he changed his character went all out making an actual music.
Is that our breakfast and he actually didn’t show everything I put grits on top of it all. So y’all didn’t have smothered fried chicken over gravy that’s also a breakfast and also chicken and waffles is a breakfast.
what's funny about this is... growing up my grandparents always debated over this very breakfast, my grandfather was a ww2 American vet and my grandmother was a ww2 English nurse, his nurse when he was injured in the war and thats how they met... fast forward couple years she moved to America after the war... we as kids were the judges lol my grandpa would make the American breakfast and grandma made the English breakfast ... it brings back alot of memories of my childhood ❤❤
And the thing is if you eat donuts for breakfast, you're hurting hard by lunch as you come down from the sugar/carb rush. If you eat oatmeal for breakfast, you're usually good to go.
Literally EVERYTHING about Idris Elba screams "cool af dude that I wanna hang out with". From his full body laugh, his casual dress style, his tattoos, and his general comedic attitude... dude seems just chill af and im here for it
It's the definition of plain. The only thing you taste is that canned beans juice... which is just sweet with no substance. Ketchup on toast is more exciting. How can you ever compare that to eggs of any kind? Now if you make refried beans with onions and whatever and put that on toast, then you got yourself a hearty breakfast.
@zippo718 What you're describing just sounds like if you turned the word "pretentious" into a meal. It's ok to like things that are incredibly easy to make chief, you don't have to suck yourself off over how good you feel making every meal a pain in the ass. Side note: saying beans are plain but eggs aren't I think is laughable and onions on toast sounds disgusting.
I like a mix of both. My goto breakfast on every vacation is scrambled eggs with sausages bacon and grilled tomatoes. And for „dessert“ some pancakes with syrup 😄👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Honestly, yes! As someone who listens to a lot of audiobooks around background noise (crowds, cars, trains) or while out jogging, he has a quality that would be really great in an audiobook reader....his voice is strongly resonant and he doesn't mumble! Too many audiobook readers tend to lower their voices to whisper or mumble when there's an aside or a dramatic part. I get that this is a normal thing to do in acting, evenvoice acting, for dramatic effect. However, it's a much bigger deal when there's no visual like in a film. The listener cannot freaking hear you when you do that, so we end up losing part of the story and having to go back and turn it up for just those few seconds. John has the type of voice that one could make out without having to turn the headphones up to hearing damage levels, even over the sound of their own heavy breathing after a run and a big truck's squeaky tires.
I think the main difference between the two styles is that an American breakfast is very salt and savory heavy, we get a little sweet with pancakes with syrup but eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, these are all very salt, fat, savory. An English Breakfast has sweet with the beans, it has the strangeness of the blood sausage, it has the grilled tomato (which is even a food type the American Breakfast doesn't even have), the Eggs are fried rather than scrambled which lets the yolk be a sort of sauce for the rest of the meal. One meal is very simplistic and straight forward, but delicious and filling. The other is a mix of different foods and different textures that leads to a much more interesting experience.
The Earl of Pan lol the story telling was insanely natural
It was Pan, the god of cakes.
Cena should open a chain of pancake restaurants called Earl of Pan. Lol
Cheers man great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pansylvania had me dead 😂😂
As a Pennsylvanian I was so ready to call him out on the misinformation. They actually came from native Americans version of a corn cake which they sweetened with honey. Apparently George Washington loved them and were his favorite food.
How Cena can be dead serious while cracking a joke is amazing.
He is in WWE for 23 years and he knows how to be a face and heel
John cena and Eminem in a room would be great
@mustafamusa798😅
@prasithoudomvilay8454 Plus his mic skills were up there too. That flow, timing and emotional control helps loads for being funny.
@mustafamusa798I sometimes forget John Cena raps 😂
I love how Cena is in a three-piece suit while eating a greasy American breakfast. It's like he just left Sunday mass to go to Denny's
That is what most would call a traditional southern breakfast lol
Nothin more 'Merican than that
That man has killer style, always so well groomed - and nice! I don’t know a clue about wrestling but have been so impressed every time I’ve seen him interviewed. And it takes a pretty cool guy to shine next to Idris… and Ollie!
Suit ?
I don’t see any suit
Which often happens in America
Cena is genuinely hilarious lol. Dude has a killer sense of humor. I freaking lost it when Idris asked him if the pancake story was true, and he just went "That is not" 😂🤣😂☠️
Yeah I think he doesn't get enough credit for his comedic timing. A genuinely funny guy for sure.
He’s had the comedy since his early days in wwe really kicking off in 2003-2004
Absolutely😂
That's why he was perfect for Peacemaker. The humour varies between broad and subtle, then it veers into tragedy.
But if he can film the opening credits (dancing) without cracking a smile, then he can do just about anything.
Idris is clearly an introvert with quick one liners (witty British). John is clearly a charming extrovert (American boisterous). Both are amazing
That’s pretty spot on
I hate syrup touching anything but an Earl of Pancake. Yick.
Yes but I was very impressed with Cena's dry humour in this. Its like he tried to adopt a British sense of humour and it worked well
I wouldn’t say he’s introverted. Some people just get around an even more extroverted person and kinda step back a little.
😂😂😂 Cena's ability to B.S and keep a straight face is 2nd to none🤣
Of course, he's a professional wrestler. It's literally his job.
That is literally his job for the past 20 years in WWE
I almost believed him. Lol
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa so true !!
I know of an even better dude, his name is Donald... 😂😂😂
I didn't realize how funny and articulate John is. He killed it. And as usual, the crew of Jolly crushed it as well. Well done. Loved it!
I bet this is 25 yrs of just hanging w the guys, licker room banter. Lots of professional athletes are very funny, lots of down time in sports. Lots of bullsh*ting goes on in locker rooms, warmup, travel etc.
Just commented the same thing! ❤
John cena is a Chinese boot licker.
John Cena is one of the real ones, he can just enjoy the moment and make people feel comfortable. He definitely has a skill for reading people and acting respectful and fun. Everytime a movie with him comes out i absolutely love his performance and what he does.
He's incredibly well spoken. It's got an addicting quality to listen to
John Cena has the best straight-face I have ever seen. He can say the dumbest bullsh*t while looking you in the eye dead serious. I love it!😆😆😆
What face? John Cena clearly isnt even in this video. I dont think a video of him even exists. 😂
Not sure why the comments say there are four of them. Clearly, it's just Josh , Ollie and Idris.
I mean there's still four. It's a floating suit.
Underrated comment 👋
Really? I think Cena is pretty cool.
I'd swear i hear a fourth voice 🤔
This joke will never get old
Idris immediately getting a read on Ollie and delighting in his self-proclaimed “idiot” status is so wonderful 😂
Well to start with his name is Ollie what can you expect😂😂😂
John Cena's comedic timing is fantastic. The Earl of Pan story on the origin story of the pancake was told so damn naturally😂😂😂
Imagine THAT guy talking about anything while he's literally in the process of ruining his own beloved TV programming..... smfh to the 1000000x
People forget John Cena was a rapper... he would freestyle off the dome all the time. I think that adds to his ability to improvise his jokes on the fly.
@TenderViddlezRapping, poetry, and improv all use the same part of the brain supposedly. Lots of comedians can flow.
@NothingValidHerewhat are you talking about?
He is quick and funny 😂😂😂😂
Actual Title: Bloodsport and Peacemaker eat breakfast.
"Is this a true story?"
"That is not."
Freaking John convinced us all. He was so good adding those little tidbits in there. 😂😂
I knew he was lying immediately but that just made it funnier to me that he said it with a straight face.
💯
100% thought it was the too 😂😂
James Gunn once called him "the most gifted improviser i've ever met".
I was convinced as well. I went straight to Google. LOL
The team up we never expected and don't deserve. What a treat.
It's to promote Idris' new film. Not sure who he co-stars with, you can't really see him.
@shantayedincsoy1611 weird episode, they were just talking to air i dont get it
@riddlerprodigy yeah super strange not sure why they thought floating cups were a cool idea bit weird
Sybau
@framos9914 do you feel left out of the joke, or do you just spend your days telling random people to shut up? Also, I idtenify as a cunt, not a bitch.
Be well. Cheers.
Such big feelings in such a little person. It's so cute.
John Cena has grown to be one of my favorite comedic actors. The guy has comedic presence and timing!
Yeah he seems nice when he isn't shilling for genocidal regimes
Where is he?
literally was nobody there in the video
What you talking about? I don't see nothing.
Ricky Stanicky. He’s funny in that.
Wished Alba was there. I love how the young guy put on a suit. Love it. How respectful. ❤
As an American it wasn't until this very program that I realized what a national treasure (and absolute delight) John Cena was.
Truly a great export of your country.
Absolutely!!!😂😂
its because you cant see him.
Owned by China but yea a National Treasure
I NEVER knew he was was funny 😅😂😂
Never forget Cena has granted over 650 wishes for Make-a-Wish, the world record. No one is perfect but holy hell I've got a lot of respect for him. He and Idris Elba work well together, Heads of State turned out to be a really fun movie.
Yeah, I through on in the background but found my myself 100% invested. Always liked both of them on screen and they were great on screen together.
Really? I might watch it now! Thanks!
John is a fantastic human being, he has proved it so many times. Always a class act.
@JMBBrasil I've watched it and I too thought it would be a background kinda movie. I was wrong. These two together just work :) movie is a fun watch. I recommend it
I went in expecting nothing and I was happy with it. It think they both worked really well together on screen.
The pancake joke is actually about the Earl of Sandwich naming Sandwich. Which is a true story. So that joke is some premium level stuff recrafting a real fact that sounds like a joke, into an actual joke that sounds like the real fact haha great stuff
The BARON OF BEEF was knighted by a very drunk gorged lord in England at a feast...centuries later here we are.
Its even better because John's story is a 80% truth, but likely unintentionally so. The modern American-Style pancake was brought to the US by Dutch settlers in the late 1700s to early 1800s, and likely popularized in their Pennsylvanian settlements.
@B_izzyy that is a hilarious coincidence
Thanks, Einstein. 😅
No, I believe that was the Sultan of Swing.🤔
18:22 "It's like a Strong taste that I don't want" 😂😂
Absolutely should be the new advertising slogan for Marmite! 🤣🤣🤣
Try the same amount of Vegemite on toast and then tell me that a non Australian can swallow it just like Marmite and promite all made with the same ingredient but just different amounts all good for you in small amounts I have tried all three and been a Australian Vegemite is my go too as that's what my pallet is use to as not many people outside of aust can stomach Vegemite but all three are good in stews and in baking
I love how he thinks John Cena just invented McGriddles on the spot. 😂
6:29 I didn’t catch that
The Earl of Pan story has them running in circles with suspicion
That one killed me to 😂
Also, nobody eats pancakes with nothing on them. That’s not an American thing
John Cena in a suit teaching some Brits how to make a Bacon Egg and Cheese Mcgriddle was not something I planned to watch today.
McGriddles are proof of a higher life force. 🙏🏽
Right.. Who knew 😂😂
Genius isn’t he?
I was literally talking to my phone saying .. he’s describing a McGriddle 😅😅
Must be in the McD's contract
I’m so jealous of how casually funny John Cena is on camera,
“No no, I woke up like this” is killing me
Behind every funny person is a lifetime of practice.
it's a state of mind man, just don't take yourself and the world too seriously
He’s such a well spoken bloke, whether he’s saying something serious or just joking around he has a way with words that just makes the conversation flow so naturally and makes everyone in the room comfortable to engage or add on to the bit. A true legend.
Cena is so pleasant and polite when he's saying "I am entitled to hate this" with just the nicest vibe.
He's spent the last 20+ years travelling all over the world. He knows how to be respectful (and hustleful and loyaltyful) of other cultures. No one likes everything
It's the way he goes about it, he doesn't say it's disgusting, he tries it first and then says it's indeed not his "cup of tea"
The look on John Cena's face when they say they don't do donuts in the morning is absolutely priceless
"What kind of operation you runnin' over there?"
@DN-sy6xx You know good and well Gregg`s is selling doughnuts by the bag every morning alongside those sausage rolls...
as a brit i had NO IDEA doughnuts were a breakfast food! i’ve only ever had them as a dessert!
IvanElias-or6tv i think he means pain au chocolat, as in the layered pastry like a croissant, but with chocolate inside
The Earl of Pan feeding dutch mennonites pancakes story was too good.
It makes sense if you’ve ever been around the Pennsylvania Dutch and they would tell you a story like that too.
I’m pretty sure there were some tiny seeds of truth to make the story sound more believable 😂 pancakes were actually made my dutch settlers right?
@JRemy-rs9zk They make amazing maple syrup so it makes sense!
The Pennsylvania Dutch are actually German. It's a mispronunciation of Deutch. The actual Dutch settled in New York, the Germans settled in PA.
@taahiramcgeeno, some are my relatives and they are German. The English couldn’t say “ Deutsch” their dialect is German from the Rhineland. The Dutch were in old New York
Chile nothing could ever compare to American Breakfast baby!!!!
Cena, being the well-known coffee snob he is, just saying "yeah, this sucks" to the coffee made me laugh pretty hard.
I mean a good drip coffee is really hard to find.
"Tastes like bad choices" 🤣
cheap coffee goes good with pancakes and a meal like this though cena doesnt eat meals like this he looked like a girl picking at his plate (obviously better coffee goes better)
My God, Cena is hilarious. The most British-American humour I've ever heard, such a great dry wit that hits with Brits, yet combined with that outgoing american confidence. What an interesting guy!
Yeah, thinking the same thing. He’s much more fascinating than you’d expect. And I’m pretty sure he’s the most charismatic person alive today.
Aint nothing british about Cena! Pure American end to end "🤚" 🇺🇲🇺🇲
*john Cena music plays*
@ChurritoFrio I HEARD his song when you said this. 'Merica baby! Land of the Cena!
God, you Brits are so gay.
Was thinking the same didn’t know he was so funny
john's reaction to beans on toast is priceless LMAO
That is probably every American reaction……
The main reasons Beans on Toast is a staple is because its cheap, filling, and conveniet.
Students eat it because they get protein, carbs and some vegetables.
It is a nostalgic lunch when you're home on school breaks.
Many people either do Beans and/or Scrambled eggs on toasted bread, or Spaghetti/hoops
And during late autumn through winter exchange for soup
It was so funny cuz his impression is like the exact same as mine, in concept it is so plain sounding and doesn't compliment the bread at all. But I guess its just dependent on the sauce
I like the fact he understood the context around beans and toast. It was a product of rationing during the war. It isn't a secret or anything, but shows he's a probably a curious person.
Cena and Ollie is GOLD. The chemistry is so good, could easily be a show.
You don’t have to lie
@olivender420😂 why would I lie about that? Weirdo
If you want I can be more specific @olivender420it was in Nantucket Massachusetts at an air show showing the blue angles. They had some celebs there, including the upcoming wrestler John Cena. It was 2004 I believe.
Not a lie it was at an air show in Massachusetts. It was the early 2000s
@olivender420 it's not that crazy of a story, ppl live things you know
"This sucks boys", "That third row hit me in the cheap seats"!!!😂👊🎤 Nuff said 😂😂😂😎
National Treasure
Less is more with Marmite
Just from people's extreme reactions to it, I really need to try it at least once in my life.
John Cena seems like such a fun dude to hang with, polite, intelligent, great sense of humour and open to trying new things without hesitation. The Jolly channel is the gift that keeps giving
"Your insight on [topic] was really impressive! I'd love to hear more of your thoughts. Would you be up for chatting sometime?"
Not sure if you watch the Bad Friends podcast but the episode with him was hilarious
@Kjsmittyy I will have to give it a watch, thanks for the recommendation. I saw Cena on Graham Norton and he was awesome there too.
Idris is an absolute legend too! Forgot to mention
I love IDRIS
How is John Cena so incredibly charming? I've never seen any actual interviews or other longer segments of him talking before, but this is not what I expected at all. He always seemed like a chill dude, but he is competing for being the chillest of them all I'd say.
He spent years kissing up to th Chinese communist party. It's what he knows to do
U must’ve not seen is Instagram. He been chilling
Personally, I've never even seen the guy.
Every time he verges on "okay too much, chill dude" he pulls it back and adds some self-deprecation or deference. Great video.
Say that again @Oreocycllo
The Earl Of Pan 😂😂😂 4:05
And the deadpan way Cena said "it's not true"
Earl sandwich comes to mine. As does count douche bag. In the immortal words of Saturday Night Live, give me a sandwich and a douche bag and there’s nothing I can do.
I'm 42 and moved to the US from the UK when I was 11, I still eat beans on toast. I do toast, a little butter, some marmite, beans and then top it with some shredded cheese.
Congratulations on making it to 42.
John's decades of mic work showed through with that earl of pancakes bit with no breaks and keeping a straight face. Awesome skills!
Went to a wedding where the father of the bride was a lawyer. Its amazing how well these public speakers can hold you.
Cena is just great to watch. He is funny, Oozes personality, great eye contact and engagement in the the whole process. He needs his own show
He actually should be a voice actor 💯🗣
He does , peace maker
You clearly need Peacemaker in your life. It. Is. Incredible!!!
Cena literally gets angry at a little bit of mess on his kitchen side.
reminds me a bit of Jim Carrey
14:30 i like how Cena is saying like "come on baked beans on a toast in the big 25?"
9:02 The look of pure disgust in John's eyes when he learnt we Brits don't have doughnuts in the morning. I could hear the eagle screech and Star Spangled Banner blaring in his head.
Oh my gosh..... youre funny
Funny thing is the star spangled banner is British lol 😂
@JosephMilton-b4j No. The MELODY is based on a British song, but the song [music and lyrics] is not British. Nice try though.
@JosephMilton-b4j The tune is a British drinking song yes, lyrics are Francis Scott Key who was American ;)
@OliverRPendle You do realise Francis Scott key was of English descent
Mr Cena looks like more and more as a genuine person to be around. His energy is just so good.
Don't get it twisted, if you're on fire, he's not pissing on you.
He has granted the most Make A Wish wishes in the world. He’s a great dude.
The main gamemaster from the glass cannon podcast, Troy lavalee, grew up in Boston with the Cena family, I believe John is a little younger but Troy said his brothers (and entire family )were the "cool kids that nobody could hate because they were all too nice and good looking."
Troy's not one to bullshit for bullshit's sake (Boston, remember), so I really believe JC is one of the coolest celebs around, proof in his make a wish tally and his opinions towards that program.
Strong agree!
@GaryCedestromIII He bought me a suit once
Josh's expression when John Cena says "The Earl of Pan" is killing me
4:24 Complimenting John Cena’s acting while he’s sitting next to Idris is wild 😂
John is so articulate, and his mannerism is straight out of a gentleman's behavior book + he's funny as hell! Love this episode!
It’s basically an unwritten rule in the UK that whenever someone tries a black pudding, you have to immediately tell them that it’s pigs blood
"Blut. Blut clot... Neh, facto facto"
Classic Fast Show
Here in Mexico we have something similar to black pudding, it's called moronga.
It's cool you guys can keep your pig's blood that's disgusting I absolutely freaking not like just the thought of it makes me want to puke disgusting
@delmar2064The original, old school, minimally processed version sounds way better.
John’s chemistry with Ollie in this video is simply top notch!! Another great interview boys!!
He judt has the ability to speak with anyone, even these braindead kids
I read an article once about an experiment done in England with school children where the children were top have a cereal or porridge breakfast and then took a test at school. A week or so later the children were given a breakfast of bean on toast and then given a similar test at school. The children, especially the girls, did much better on the test. Something about the protein with the beans gets the brain working more.
“A cup of tea to start the day”
“And the pint to end it” 😂 12:13
15:20 "It's not that bad" and "It's better than it looks" is practically a glowing endorsement for the culinary delicacy that is beans on bread.
And most of the UK food lol sounds weird but it's actually... Alright 😂
Too bad it doesn't compare to the proper beans with Tortillas
Also "not bad" in English, English means "this is actually pretty amazing". Understatement is our super power.
19:01 "This sucks, boys" "This Old-fashioned sucks" "AH that third row, it hit me in the cheap-seats" 😂
I tried Marmite when I dated a British girl and the way Jon describes it is spot on. That was so sour and savory that I felt it tingle in the back of my head 😅
Yeah Marmite and Vegemite are not it 😂 the brits and aussies were tricked into buying this
@mitchconner2021 As an Australian, you'd be hard-pressed to find a single Australian who doesn't like Vegemite. We grew up on the stuff.
"Old fashioned sucks" is the best description of the stuff. You get why it once existed, but not why it still needs to
"Stay away from the Marmite!"😂😂
“That third row, it hit me in the cheap seats” 19:10 I didn’t know Cena was this funny. Caught myself smiling the whole video 😭
I literally tapped on the comments section reading this as it came up 😂😂
Same 😂@yoemans
Lmao I came to comment this exact thing
That killed me lol
Watch Peacemaker. Just don’t eat or drink anything when you do. He’s hysterically funny.
I absolutely love how Idris laughs so heartily. What a great dude!
I have heard about John Cena here and there but never seen him interacting like this so this was my introduction to this man. I have to say this man is a man of culture, has insane charisma and a great sense of humour. Liked this a lot, I was thoroughly entertained.
I second that. I knew his name and face and nothing else really, seems like a fun chill dude
Yes I am an American and he is super fun and so real! No BS with him! ❤ but I do like beans on toast!!! Some soak up the bean juice and some is a bit crunchy perfect combination!!! I could try the spread tho it has a weird smell lol
Cena is the best. So much better than the Rock.
He's always like this on and off camera. I've met him a few times only because of what I do he's always super chill.
@marioStortuga You could even say that he is super bing chilling
Ok had no idea Mr. Cena is so good on camera and with improv. Well done. Oh yes Josh and Ollie did well too.
4:13 “Is this a true story?”
“It is not.”
Epic delivery.
So good!
I love that Ollie matched Cena's great dressing with a dapper suit for the English part. Well played.
I'm so disappointed that Idris wasn't on the second segment. Was so looking forward to him promoting English breakfast 😂
Same.
For real dude
Ikr??? They missed on that!
Same, now I'm wondering if he likes marmite.
THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING TOOOO
4:50 literally the most American thing I’ve ever heard how have I not thought of that it sounds heavenly🤤
7:01 john Cena discovers the mcgriddle....
😂😂😂
Cena’s horror of them not eating doughnuts for breakfast 😂 “what kind of operation you running over there?🤨”
I nearly spat out my drink at that, and yelled "WHAT?!" at the screen lol
14:30 "1948 I get it, but tell me right now in 2025, how this has stood the test of time"🤣🤣
That part!!!😂😂😂
starchy blandness with a hint of molasses 🤣🤣
it'sd tradition
doesn't haveto be somali/ pakistani cuisine, same with sweden/netherlands
only usa, canada needs diversity
@jamesclarkmaxwell-v2n I bet you're fun at parties.
@jamesclarkmaxwell-v2n No one said it did. You win a gold medal in jumping to conclusions.
Dieta mediterránea:
Pan tostado con tomate rallado, aceite de oliva y Jamón serrano. uno de 100 ejemplos.
Mediterranean diet:
Toasted bread with grated tomato, olive oil, and Serrano ham.
Stove top oatmeal is magnificent
Grits 😊 Grits are just as universal!
Instant oatmeal is also great if you're hungry before bed but don't want something too crazy that'll mess with your sleep. It's a reasonably healthy stomach spackle.
@Tang8rinedreamSteel cut 🤤
This is the funniest episode to date imo, it's freaking hilarious🤣🤣🤣
The way he stares at the beans on (soggy) toast and then he says "so this is the fancy one" 🤣John Cena is hilarious and witty.
Cena is so charismatic and fun to be around. What a great person as well.
I just watched Heads of State a couple of days ago and seeing this is quite a treat. John Cena and Idris Elba couldn't have made a better on screen duo!
It was a very funny action packed movie.
I wasn’t going to watch it but I’ll have to now. ❤
@tanyarobinson2098It is funny and action combined.
It was a really silly movie but I loved it. I want to see more of these two.
same good movie
After pausing to read the “pharmacy ad” I belly laughed when it said to call your doctor if your stomach starts singing the star spangled banner. Hahaha!
Lol
I love the way John and Idris get along. They are a fabulous combo I never saw coming.
Very good video! I got turned on to Beans and Toast when Desmond’s started airing in the US. It makes a great quick meal. It also keeps you satiated and gives an energy boost!
12:07 The thoroughly British panic about the milk being poured into the tea 😂
This happened to me on a plane flying to London with an elderly English couple beside me who I made plane buddies with. I’m Jamaican, so we do tea the British way, but I used to drink tea black with sugar at the time because I had to cut out milk for a while. The man was simultaneously aghast, incredibly offended and devastatingly heartbroken that I had done that to tea. He borderline mini lectured me 😂😂😂
My colleague is Polish-Nigerian. He added the milk before removing the tea bag. The English were 😮😮😮
😂😂
@bcowsie I'm a dual citizen, so my British parent was the one who always made the hot tea growing up.
Learning that I didn't have to drink it with milk was a revelation to me!
I really just prefer it without.
You have to do it precisely
I didn't realize just how naturally funny John Cena is. I could literally watch this multiple times just to laugh at him. 😂😂
John Cena's deadpan humor is on point XD bruh I was cackling
I'm not a fan of donuts but the donuts at Doughnut Plant are always soooo pretty! They usually have very interesting flavors. We stopped by with a few friends who were visiting NYC and one of them got the creme brulee donut and said it was divine!!
is it just me, or is john cena so naturally funny haha. My childhood hero
The funniest thing to me is I always hear his voice but he's never on the camera? Such a great running gag. What does the man even look like?
When he first got to WWE he had an unfunny generic gimmick. It wasn’t working and he was just about to be released. They were on a European tour and Cena was just messing around with the guys doing some hilarious freestyle rapping. Stephanie McMahon heard him and asked if he could do that as a gimmick. The Dr. of Thuganomics gimmick was born and led to a hall of fame wrestling career and to being a famous actor as well. None of that happens without him being naturally funny.
He is, had me laughing at nearly 2am
He's a natural performer!
@kenlangston3451With how high of a bar his debut win is, no doubt if he didn't explore and experiment he would've been a cookie cutter wrestler and it just shows how he likes the challenge when he changed his character went all out making an actual music.
Lmaooooo John Cena creating a bacon & egg McGriddle and havin no idea is killin 😂😂😂😂😂
Pretty sure he did know? He referenced fast food chains
Is that our breakfast and he actually didn’t show everything I put grits on top of it all. So y’all didn’t have smothered fried chicken over gravy that’s also a breakfast and also chicken and waffles is a breakfast.
"I can't officially hate it until I tried it" best philosophy towards food.
Beans on bread with some cheese melted and loads of pepper, delicious! Grew up on it and I'm from South Africa
what's funny about this is... growing up my grandparents always debated over this very breakfast, my grandfather was a ww2 American vet and my grandmother was a ww2 English nurse, his nurse when he was injured in the war and thats how they met... fast forward couple years she moved to America after the war... we as kids were the judges lol my grandpa would make the American breakfast and grandma made the English breakfast ... it brings back alot of memories of my childhood ❤❤
What a great story. Which did you prefer?
@chelliebellie4443 American breakfast was my choice but I always preferred a over easy egg and cheese sandwich over scrambled eggs lol
@apoc8265but it's not truly American.... What do you call? American breakfast is actually not even American. It comes from Europe
@CW-rx2js 🤦♂️ and where did Americans come from? c'mon man don't make me break out history class 😂
What a great base for a wonderful movie.
Did not know Cena was so humorous. Wish Elba would have made it for the English breakfast. Either way, another great episode. Cheers!
British are a lot more proper mate
Wait this your first time watching John cena? he been cracking jokes on wwe too
@badcornflakes6374um…. Okay? Who asked lol
@Bri-l4fnobody. But we also like to make statements. See? Proper.
@ANonymous-p5x5noh okay. you learn something new everyday
9:57 very real. oatmeal tastes amazing and that’s why I have plenty of it for when I got nothing else.
And the thing is if you eat donuts for breakfast, you're hurting hard by lunch as you come down from the sugar/carb rush. If you eat oatmeal for breakfast, you're usually good to go.
Love these guys so much 💚🫶
John is so quick witted and funny!
Who
Literally EVERYTHING about Idris Elba screams "cool af dude that I wanna hang out with". From his full body laugh, his casual dress style, his tattoos, and his general comedic attitude... dude seems just chill af and im here for it
Me too ! He's just eazy breezy chill
Gayest comment I've ever read
@mattblah7737I’m guessing you’re the highest of all the Gay Lords to be making that assumption since you know so much about being Gay 😂😂
I listen to his music from Cyberpunk and DJ stuff from time to time. Pretty cool dude.
@fullhouselover899 idk man it was pretty gay
17:04 “ no no I woke up in this” lmao i fkn love jon cena dude is hilarious
The way Cena's smile disappeared and looked scared after he said beans😭 8:10
14:29 Mr. Cena looks at Beans on Toast: “I’ll allow you to tell me WHY this is still a thing…” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
1948? I get it. 🤣😆
I dunno how Mr flat white and poached eggs on sourdough was gonna knock beans on toast as plain BUT this man commands so much charisma and character
@zippo718 Or as the rest of the Europe calls it Luftwaffe sandwich
@zippo718 What you're describing just sounds like if you turned the word "pretentious" into a meal. It's ok to like things that are incredibly easy to make chief, you don't have to suck yourself off over how good you feel making every meal a pain in the ass. Side note: saying beans are plain but eggs aren't I think is laughable and onions on toast sounds disgusting.
12:13 I like that Josh is so used to looking away while he's drinking soju that he looks away while drinking tea lol 😆
i immediately noticed that! lol, Korean culture is part of his soul now
I like a mix of both. My goto breakfast on every vacation is scrambled eggs with sausages bacon and grilled tomatoes. And for „dessert“ some pancakes with syrup 😄👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
"Beans and bread, the secret sleeping combination" 😂😂😂 amazing
John Cena's dead pan delivery is brilliant..he so damn quick and has everyone in stitches.😂😂😂😂
It's called the Earl of Dead Pan delivery.
@Win7ermu7ehe must be the twice removed cousin of the Earl of Pan.😂
John cena should read audiobooks. His voice is chef’s kiss!!
He does voice over work for Honda's car commercials
Once in a while he would do narration for wwe documentary
He did do at least one audiobook. 54th man or something.
