Thanks for the reminder that watercolor is layering layering layering LAYERING. Sometimes I start to just give up halfway through because it doesn't look good but just keep adding and adding, and it starts to really come alive.
I see that a lot in beginner painters. They have a good base but they just need to layer on more detail. I feel like people stop because wet paint looks darker too, so one might not realise that once the layer dries, the colours will fade and look unfinished again 😅
Absolutely LOVE your Style, Voice and Peaceful Teaching Methods ~ You are a natural teacher and warm soul.....Thank You for being one of my favorite watercolor artists and mentor....:)
A genius is one who can take something complex and break it down to simple steps and still make it look so stylish. Hats off to you Nia! I truly appreciate your work
Thank you for your practical hints about fan brush (ie water) and fine liner brush (ie branches). I also liked your hints regarding mixing colors and showing how to add more of each of the primaries to change out the browns.
Your channel is truly a gem and one of my favorites on RUclips :) Nia, your videos are so helpful to me and the overall vibe of this is so comforting! I've worked with watercolour for almost 3 years and you wouldn't believe how long it took me to control the paint 💀 I can't wait to try and paint this! 🍂
Oh, Awesome!! I think thumbnail and painting process on this video are extremely beautiful and emotionally. and really autumn scenery is absolutely colorful. Thank you sharing painting tutorial.✨💕🍁
Loved watching your color mixing and your choices and description. Also, the painting is just beautiful and at the same times was approachable for me, as a beginner to try! Thanks!
I found the color mixing section of this video particularly helpful! And she used colors that I don’t have in my palette. Time to buy more art supplies (darn!). 😂
@@thebirdartistscottage Agreed! Oh, I have a Paul Ruben's pan set that includes a Payne's gray with a blue hue that would work great for this exercise!
@@thebirdartistscottage I totally resonate with you. I follow number of RUclipsrs for learning watercolor but I always ended up Trying Nia’s work. Coz they are so nicely taught n I can actually see the result infront of me.
Enjoyed this so much. Am working on Fall leaves, so this will be next. Thank you for the color theory in a nutshell. Our trees are turning here in the Pacific Northwest, but we always have green with our evergreen trees. Beautiful time of year. 🍂
I’m in the PNW, too-western Oregon! Our leaves are really starting to turn here also but I always find this time of the year a bit bittersweet because rain and dark days are coming soon. Thank goodness we have art to make and lovely videos like this one to watch! 🌧
This is so beautiful! There is so much depth… looks like I could step right in there.. I love it! I’ll be trying this tomorrow. Thanks for this video. Very inspiring!
Nia- Beautiful as always. Your talent is amazing. I really like the choice of a muted blue for your palette. Your whole process is so enjoyable to watch and so helpful for those of us who want to give this a try. I must try. Thanks.
@@thebirdartistscottage DS does have a Payne's Blue Gray or I was thinking DS Indigo might be a good choice. I have some Schmincke but don't think I have the Payne's grey bluish. I'll have to see what muted blues I can coax out of the two DS choices.
Eugenia, this is exquisite and a perfect tutorial. You done amazing work as always. For a moment I feel your painting and inspirable too. Thanks@Nianiani
Payne's Grey (and Schminke's Payne's Grey Bluish) is one of my favorite paint colors. Perylene Violet and Daniel Smith's Moonglow with Payne's Grey make up my three favorite paint colors. I don't know why I love those so much cuz green is my favorite color, but for watercolors.........there's just something about those. Oh! And Sennelier's Chinese Orange!
It's perfect! I was thinking of painting something like this and luckily autumn break is not so far so I'll have a lot of time for painting so I can surely try it! Thanks!
Beautiful. I don't think it's a bad habit that you take the masking tape off when you do, before as you say the painting is done. And makes perfect sense to me and it certainly seems to work very well for you. 🖌️🖼️❤️
New sub here; I just found your channel. I ordered some watercolor paints on Amazon and can't wait until they arrive in the mail. I really love this tutorial, and how you explained each step.
This is absolutely beautiful! You did an amazing job. And thank you for explaining how much water to use. I'm new to watercolor & it's very helpful. I'm going to give this a try. :))
all the colours look great and good job with the trees limbs, not too distracting but flesh out the trees more 😀 i take the tape off to before a painting is finished, you really cant know if its done with a different coloured border
Hi! First time watching your video(ofc I subscribed) I love how you explain every step and not just create a time-lapse for half of the painting(Also love that you reply to each and every comment)…I have two problems, 1. I don’t have proper watercolors like I just have normal watercolor cakes(as I am a beginner ) 2. I don’t have a proper watercolor paper (my parents don’t buy it for me) Hope you have some advise Thanks
Hi! Welcome to the channel! You can use regular watercolor cakes but as for the paper I would advise to use watercolor paper. There are cheap affordable ones like canson XL and other brands. Prices will of course vary depending on which country you buy it from. Hope this helps 😊
@@Nianiani Thanks for the advice. Actually I tried painting the scenery with my water colour cakes…they are good but my drawing seems a bit dull, any tips on how or what should I do to make them seem brighter while painting?
I found your color mixing demonstration to be extremely helpful! Your explanations was so clear! You are a very good teacher! 🎨 I have a lot of trouble getting “loose.” Any tips for letting go of obsession with details?
I have the same problem as you with not being able to let loose >< I personally tried to do more wet on wet as the base so it gives me something to work with and layer on top of... and the more I'm comfortable understanding how the paint reacts to certain dampness, that's where I try to incorporate it into more layers... I hope that makes sense. Mind you, I'm also still working on it :p
