Question 1: Where can I launch my own kayak in the king William area?
Question 2: Why weren't the launch areas designed with easier access?
Comment: DO NOT RUN THE CHUTES WITHOUT CHECKING THEM FIRST!
I've seen huge rocks in some of the more accessible chutes. Some people are just mean for no reason!
I don't think anyone who designed the Mission Reach consulted with kayakers during the design.

It's been a year since i asked a couple simple questions... I guess no one answers questions here.
I'll answer the best I can. If you park behind the SARA (San Antonio River Authority) building you can carry your kayak down the ramp to launch.
There are a few people who rent kayaks there on occasion.
If you decide to kayak the River... it's downhill to get your kayak to most launches.
But remember... when you get back you have to carry your kayak and gear uphill.

How long does it normally take to paddle from Roosevelt to the last port out?

Hi! Depending on river flow, experience, and equipment, the paddle from Roosevelt to Davis Lake can take 6-8 hours. Feel free to contact us at (866) 345-7272 to discuss paddling this area in detail.

Do kayaks get scratched or stuck on the kayak chutes?

      CHECK THE CHUTES FOR ROCKS!
SOME PEOPLE ARE MEAN AND WILL PUT ROCKS IN THE CHUTES!
When the mission reach opened up I went through a small rapid just behind mission county park and the sharp rocks ripped my kayak wide open. My kayak was a whitewater kayak FYI.
All the sharp rocks might be gone now but I've never gone back.

Interesting video, but it is mostly about the narrator.
Honestly he is in about 3/4 of the video instead of just narrating. I am hoping Part 2 is more views of the river.

I was thinking the same thing. The shots looked like stock footage
