These Inspired by Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom have been in back order for quite some time now at Sweetwater. Just placed my order today (my second). I was told that the October and November shipments are already sold.
had this guitar 2 months excellent work gibson custom/epiphone shop, this is a winner running it through my metal zone waza peddle through a BOSS MK2 . i can now chug with confidence............
I got the Ebony one.. I compared it side by side with the Gibson and it is so so close.. Except for a few quirks such as a slightly thinner body. Headstock angle, bridge type and the Poly finish... It is absolutely right there... The sound and playability are the same... The Epiphone really looks and sounds spot on... You really get 88% of the real deal... A great gigging and around guitar.
@@jessehurtado2056nor me .six grand for wood strings and wire …I’ve got a 2018 tribute it was just under 900 quid in 2018 and it plays spot on ..I like Vintage brand guitars too they’re great for the money .and quite a few professional players have got guitars built for them by vintage …
They are indeed fantastic guitars. I’ve had the Alpine White for 4 months now and the IGC 1959 ES-355 in Ebony for 3 months now. I am very happy with these premium Epiphones. I do have 4 Epiphone Les Pauls from 2012. My luthier got them all upgraded with premium wiring & electronics, bone nut, graphite bridge saddles and Gibson USA pickups. And perfect fretwork and setup. Hopefully will eventually get the new IGC Les Paul Custom in Ebony very soon. They’re still in back order at Sweetwater. UPDATE: These IGC Les Paul Custom are just so good that I went ahead and placed my order for the Ebony version. ETA or NGD will be in November 2024.
Brilliant. I have 2 traditionals, 2 standards and a custom and was thinking of an old Burny custom to end the LP part of my collection. I didn't see a need to spend the $1200 on an older used copy when you can have this one with the headstock and the actually upgraded parts including pups. Absolutely a brilliant move for Gibson allowing them to do this.
Great great demo of this guitar. Great great job truly, excellent playing good phrasing as well. Even though I know you’re just ripping down the neck. It sounds really good. I play a lot with my tone turned off like that as well. Trying to get that old vintage free, Paul and Paul Rogers, you know all right now some of those tones from Fire and Water songs like that just sounds killer. Great job man. 10:24
i send this guitar to guitar luthier for full setup, he says this is real different from other epiphone les paul before this, this feel neck like real gibson custom.. truly closed real gibson custom.. I'm glad hear it and glad buy this guitar.. people just talk "just because this have open book head stock, you buy for this price?" they don't know about this guitar, not try play this guitar first but already talk like that... you must try first 😉😁
I have this one by Epiphone and a Gibson in wine red (I have also a Gibson Les Paul Classic, an Epiphone Les Paul standard 60s, a Gibson Les Paul special with P90s and an Epiphone Slash). They sound exactly the same. I really love these new Epiphones. They’re surprising.
in my Epiphone Mary Ford LP Custom i have seymore duncan P rails (p -90's)see pic in Oct 2024 Vintage guitar Mag (Steve Cropper cover)readers gallery #5 my fav pick ups are 1. 490r/498t 2. P -90's 3. Burstbuckers
After more than a decade of PRS SE guitars, this video finally made me realize how significant it was that said guitars closely mirrored their Core counterparts. My PRS SE DGT is the closest I have to this style of guitar because I cannot use 43mm nuts and angled necks (necessitated by how tall Tune-O-Matic bridges are).
I’m glad they made this guitar, I wasn’t looking to get one, but I’ve always considered getting another Gibson LPC since mine is so good. Got one of these coming so I can compare the two and see if I care about the differences.
@ the Epiphone is a really nice copy and plays great. It’s not as heavy, the neck is thicker, the headstock angle is not as extreme, the finish with binding looks real from a distance but up close is nothing like a Gibson, but for the price it’s a keeper.
I love these guitars. Someone already beat me to the punch with the 490R and 498T. Personally I hate those pickups. Wish they had chosen differently for this beautiful guitar. I had them on my Gibson LP and they got junked pretty quickly. Actually, I got rid of it. I thought mine was the shittiest LP that had ever been made. My Epi is twice the guitar over my Gibson. I have the GIB Les Paul and a Firebird. My Firebird plays and sounds awesome. My band had rehearsal tonight for a show on Sunday and I played the Epi all night. I love switching, sharing the love with as many as I can but tonight that Firebird was dope!!
I think Epiphone makes great guitars, especially the solid bodies, especially the Korina and Mahogany guitars. Not much else can be that different aside of electronics, hardware, tuners, nut. Just put quality parts on them and they are fine.
I once bought a Chinese Ali Express Fender and a Gibson Standard copy and there was fret buzz on basically every fret, and it cost me $129 to send each one of the pieces of garbage back to China to get the money back with PayPal. The Epiphone black custom is so beautiful. I saw it in a shop and thought that it was nicer than the Gibson. Such a premium quality guitar. I liked it more than my $4300 Gibson Standard.
I figure this guitar is a bit lighter too. I moved over for a lighter instrument a few years ago but I still love the les paul I have an old les paul standard that does all this one can in view of this feature so I am also going to put this one in the collection
My biggest question is how good is the fretwork truly how clean are the fats and how level I know they did not click these fats so just curious did you have to do much work on them? 8:18
I just received mine in Ebony and was surprised at the quality of the fretwork. No sharp ends, no tooling marks, just smooth as butter. Crowned really well. Couldn’t be happier with mine
I own the last version of the Les Paul Custom with the Kalamazzo head. Wonderfull piece of kit. Will i trade up for the new headstock? Nope. I also own an older epi Joe Perry Boneyard les paul from 2002 with gibson busrtbucker 2 and 3,s from the factory. Centre switch for out of phase like a peter green thing. My still go to even with the headstock everyone dislikes.
$1300.00 is absolutely insane for an Epiphone with a Gibson headstock. All Epiphones should have the Gibson headstock. ESP and LTD are visually identical. The Explorers look the same. They would sell more Epi Les Pauls if the headstock was right. The fanboys are still going to bend over for the Gibson logo.
Obviously didn’t watch the video properly or look at the specs…. The pickups alone are $229.00 new, plus the higher quality electrics etc, ebony fretboard, woods used etc. all of that plays a part in the price you know
@@79thSeabee It's the same thing. They just found a way to mass produce them now at low labor costs i.e. China. I am not sweating anything stupid like fret nibs and nitro finish. The alpine white looks better with gloss finish anyways.

Best video I've seen on this guitar. This gentlemen rocked this guitar and proved why this is the one I have been looking for
I am totally blown away with this guitar, I will not shell out 6,000 for the Gibson

Excellent review!
I'd rather fully upgrade a Chibson. I had one that looked fantastic, and with very little tuning, played amazing.

This new open book version blows the old model away.
I don't like block or trap inlays unless they are made of real mother of pearl. 😍

How did it happen? Like fall down or when you were playing it?
@@bks252 no idea. Took it out of the case and it had a hairline crack. Don’t remember hitting it or banging the case.

epi has sicret how dull sound eny benton sounds not muted
It's not the proper Kalamazoo Epiphone headstock I have a 2021 Epiphone inspired by Gibson Les Paul with proper epiphone Kalamazoo headstock..
No satin neck?? That really kinda sucks...I hate sticky glossy necks
buy some new pants 🤣

Nice, but more expensive than some new Gibson Les Pauls.
They look slightly toyish.
Epiphone sucks. Dual action truss rods suck! Buy an LTD instead. Better built guitars.
You must not be very good
Bummer. Love my early 2000s Epis more than any other guitar I've owned.
For me the open book headstock is not enough. The irrational snob in me can't get past the Epiphone logo itself. Gotta say Gibson on that headstock.
How does that 4k+ logo sound? Mine doesn't make a sound 😂.
Says more about you than this fine quality instrument
