    Turmeric Roast Chicken With Cardamom-Coconut Jasmine Rice:
    "The flavors of this dish are heavily influenced by the flavors of Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand. On my first trip there last fall, I came across many stalls in Krabi serving grilled chicken thighs and drumsticks on skewers, bone and all. These were generously seasoned and surprisingly not spicy. A side of perfumy, coconut rice was my go-to at all times. This spatchcocked chicken cooked in the oven with high heat captures some of those grilled flavor notes as the skin begins to char and blister. The cardamom-coconut jasmine rice pairs beautifully, lending a subtle sweetness to balance the chicken’s deep savoriness."

    in short, its basically Indian Chicken Drumstick with Thengai Sadam rice... call it what it is, instead of giving your name like its your cuisine... if we change your burger to vada pav and ask you to make make it, will you make it? stop copying, ruining and westernizing a good meal

      Hi Arun! I mention how this was inspired by southeast Asian and Thai flavors. I’m also from NYC which is a melting pot. I’m not surprised that there’s something similar in Indian cuisine-I’ve never seen or had it before. My background is Latin Caribbean and these flavors exist in my cuisine, too. Seasoned chicken and coconut rice aren’t exclusive to India. Be well!

      @@cesar.ramon.perez.medero caribbean dont use jasmin rice, now do they... and like i said, it not about what you cook, its about what you name... its like changing one ingredient here and there to make it american cuisine doesn't do justice... if there is a cuisine and you want to tweak or do something similar to that, then what I am saying is, at least name the cuisine you are using or getting inspired from.

      It has nothing to do with your cuisine. Not chicken, not lime, not garlic, not fish sauce is native to India. You are the one thinking 1 or 2 spices that is makes it 'Indian'.

    • @lghdr6365
      @lghdr6365 5 месяцев назад +13

      Most of 'india' meat dishes is actually Persian influenced. Much of it from successive control of Muslim Sultanate, Mughal and British eras of control. Aka the last millenium.

      @@arun_kumar0A lot of Caribbean people cook with jasmine rice. 😂 It’s the year 2024, ingredients travel. Do you cook with tomatoes and potatoes and chilis? You know those are originally from the Americas, right? Your argument makes no sense.

    Oh my GOD I’ve been in a cooking rut for months and putting off making this, but I finally did it today and it is AMAZING!!! The rice got a little burnt and crispy at the bottom too which was perfect, I’m so so happy thank you ❤

    Aww yeah, this is the content I come for. Not to dog pile or anything, but I like food52 for learning about cooking first, with charismatic personalities as a bonus! I think some of the recent videos are really trying to be like BA but I like Food52’s more neutral balance :) not that everyone there isn’t absolutely lovely

    Turmeric does not make this Indian. Many countries use turmeric in their cuisines. Anyways, if your argument has any merit, you also don’t need to put others down to make your point.
