- After 3 flights we made it to Nelson and a short drive took us to Marahau where I launched my borrowed kayak for 5 days kayaking Abel Tasman national park.
Day one was a 7km paddle with a couple of short dives ending at Watering cove where we camped for the night.
Day two started with a dive on a sunken rock and then a stop off in Anchorage bay for water followed by another dive and a quick paddle into Torrent were we stayed for the night, a 20 minute walk took us to the Cleopatra's pool where there was a natural water slide for a bit of fun...
Day three started with more diving and I was lucky enough to score a nice crayfish. That was followed by some scenic kayaking in and out of the many scenic bays that line the coast here, I end up at Onethuti bay and that is where we camp for the third night....
You can watch part two of this trip here...
• 5 AMAZING days kayakin...
Massive thank you to Youlande Jeffares for making this trip possable by lending her kayak and providing transport!
Wicked adventure,
Take me back! Cheers!!!
Thanks for showing us what it's like under the surface, as much of a shame as it is.
Thanks for everything you did for us while we were down there! Definitely keen to return the favour if you make it up here sometime! Cheers!!!
@@KerryFlowers you are most welcome and I am definitely keen to take you up on that offer.
Epic adventure bro, I really need to get a Kayak
Yeah bro kayaks are awesome dive platforms, they are cheep and don't require fuel plus you get great exercise paddling/pedalling them! Cheers!!!
Thank for the video! Going for two weeks there soon. Guess I expected a bit better visibility 😀
The vis wasn't that bad, I haven't colour graded the footage so may have been able to get it to seem a bit better but it's definitely not super clear - too much run off from the farming and forestry in nelson bay I guess...Cheers!!!
It's very cool there
Been waiting a hot minute for this Kerry!💯
Hope it was worth the wait! Cheers!!!
thanks bro for sharing the video!
It was my pleasure! Cheers!!!
Awesome record of some awesome adventures in the Abel Tasman National Park 💙 Nice work on all the kaimoana 😘
Yeah we can look back on it when we are ancient and decrepit and say look we did that! Cheers!!!
awesome! thanks for bringing us along with you, great footage. Indeed a shame about the kina barrens.
Glad you enjoyed it, it is a shame about the kina barrens - If i lived there I would be taking a hammer and smashing the kina on a regular basis...Cheers!!!
epic bro looks like an awesome back yard adventure. sad to see the kina barren so bad there alot of our coasts are really taking a hiding from it thanks for sharing that.
Tell me about it, I reckon this was worse than the Hauraki gulf! Something needs to change in regards to our ocean management - I don't know what but things aren't good as they stand at the moment...Cheers!!!
@@KerryFlowers yeah mate thats exactly where it took me too.been a coro boy its heartbreaking to see what's unfolded over the last 10 20 years.theres afew things i think they could do mate moving pots out would be a good start size restrictions on our bigger fish.but il just keep culling all i can in the mean time haha awesome vid mate love to catch up for a swim 1 day
@@danielanderton2223 for sure we need those larger fish to predate the kina! if you are ever up hmu and we'll get together for a swim!
Top of the south is beautiful above water, but diving down here has nothing compared to your neck of the woods! Takes a long time to get used to
Yeah I was a little surprised as I have dived Wellington before and it was pretty good but oh well you get that I suppose lol! Cheers!!!
God's country
It's a stunning place that's for sure! Cheers!!!
Looks like it was an amazing trip so far, despite the barren underwater landscape. Some interesting species in that marine reserve though. Must have been glad when you got onto that cray!!
Oh yeah it was the first one I'd seen and I was like don't stuff this up lol! Cheers!!!
