OMG! What a treasure! It reminds me about a novel "Recipes of Happy Marriage" (if I'm mot mistaken). The main role in that novel also treasured her grandma recipes.

Hand written recipes from Grandma, Mom, Aunts & Uncles are so priceless. I have my DIL a recipe wriitten out in my Mom's hand...she made the cookies for her Son's class. I have a fork that my Mom used in cooking when I was a kid...it's ugly, but I think of all the dinners she made when I was a kid...great memories!!

  • @millerville2000

I asked my mom for her holiday cookie recipes a couple of years before she passed away and she read them to me over the phone. I am baking 6 different types again this year- including my great grandmothers recipe of her thumbprint cookies. My mom used to make thousands (literally) of cookies every year for family, friends, and neighbors- I'm only doing hundreds. It is definitely nostalgic :) Definitely will try the banana bread!

Wow, that recipe tin box is pristine :) what a lovely heirloom! I love this type of thing, it's why I plan on taking over my mom's cooking notebook (which has hand written recipes and newspaper clippings with recipes) one day in the distant future ;)
practically speaking, I usually send myself links for recipes I like and I tag things with keywords ... but that's no book or recipe box XD and I actually have a pretty nice book and a pretty cute decorated recipe box, but I've never made the time to write down my favorites ... comes with the territory of living in the digital age I guess ;)
