Ride the Ferrocarril Central Andino! Part 1 Chosica-Matucana

- Riding the Central railway of Peru aboard GE C39-8 1027. We begin in Chosica which is the headquarters of the Central Andino, from there we weave through the dusty foggy outskirts on tracks recently rebuilt after the devastating floods in March 2017. At San Bartolome we turn the locomotive and head upgrade towards Matucana over the massive Puente Carrion and through many tunnels. Come along for the first part of our journey on the worlds most scenic railroad. Special thanks the FCCA for the amazing hospitality!

If you saw scenery like this on a model railroad, you would think, "Very nice, but no one would be crazy enough to try to try to build a real rail line clinging to the side of a mountain like that." But obviously someone did it...... Incredible.

Wow! Lindo viajecito por tren mostrando tan bello panorama. Me recuerda de mi bella Guate de los 50's. Al principio las locomotoras eran de esas negras a vapor. Despues llegaron las de diesel. Nuestros trenes ahora estan en el museo. Que tristeza !!! Gracias por compartir. Saludos desde Montreal.

Portentosa obra de ingeniería considerando la época en que se construyó.
Para honrrar la memoria de sus constructores debería modernizarse todo su trazado hasta Huancayo; i aún hasta Huancavelica; extendienlo además, hasta encontrarse con el ferrocarril Cusco, Puno, Arequipa i Matarani.

Love to do this ride again, when it's not so foggy!!Neat seeing someone out in front of the train...riding the running board! like the nice slow ride, but couldn't get good pics of the mountains!! pulled the train ahead 28 minutes to get out of the heavy fog.
Thanks and yes me too, but the area from the coast in Lima to outside of Chosica is almost always shrouded in the coastal fog, especially in the mornings. Thankfully the better scenery is all further inland out of the sea fog!

@@monzon7385 es Perú aunque antiguamente bolivia fue parte del territorio peruano el alto Perú.
Es un bonito viaje el del ferrocarril Andino Central. Más que eso, es fascinante observar como el tren avanza entre las impresionantes montañas de los Andes. Se me ocurre una breve cita: "andes por donde andes, anda por los Andes". En este caso sería "trenear" en lugar de "andar". Pero la idea es buena.
