I was thinking about ordering it. I just gifted it to my friend but I was in dilemma that should I keep it in my collection too. Well, your review is helpful. Thanks.
You are such a great YTuber. I love that you are a comic nerd and a book nerd who tries to branch those qualities together, instead of apart. I will definitely read this book because well BATMAN! I really happy that you are you and not trying to be like anybody else on YT. Continue to grow and you will be happy.
Another question I have is: How do you receive your advanced readers copy? I love to read especially books like this( and the Miles Morales one, which is how I found you!)and by getting these books, I'll be able to satisfy my love of reading.
I've been blogging on my own site for about 7 years so it took awhile for me to build up stats and relationships with publishers for me to receive ARCs. I also pick up a lot at conventions and book festivals!
2:58 Yeah, that’s pretty common with Bruce especially when he is Batman, so it was probably a nod to that because he’s always using them to track criminal activity. • Dick/Richard - 1st Robin • Jason - 2nd Robin, killed by Joker brought back to life. • Barbara - 1st Batgirl *My Review* So I’ve had plenty of issues with this. I am a hard-core DC Comics fan, always have been; always will be. I'm a comic-book purist - especially when it comes to the Bat-family and their villains. So when hearing about Bruce ending up doing community service in Arkham? Even for Gotham, that's a little bit of a stretch. I feel the plot could've been a little more convincing or, y'know canon. Think about what telltale is doing with Batman's younger years as well as Gotham and find a middle ground - i.e. Bruce is no longer a child, yet still quite a bit off the Caped Crusader identity, which is collectively agreed as twenty five years old, when return to Gotham after years of training with The League of Assassins. It's a shame because I like Marie Lu's books I read Prodigy when I was about thirteen - so four/five years ago and I remember really enjoying it, but I don't think this story was right. Bruce is so dull, Batman isn't a dull character under that mask - despite what mainstream media may think or show you. Bruce is a charming, cheeky, stubborn ass (later on down the line a pretty chill dad too with his four boys.) that has many layers to him that didn't come across at all in this book. Yes he's a playboy but underneath that persona he's an absolute genius, his IQ is 192 for godsake! Yet he he comes across someone who expects other people to do the work for him then go: "I did that." or wouldn't even understand the truth - even if it hit him with a ten foot pole. The air-headed Bruce Wayne is a persona, that shouldn't have continued once he's entered Arkham, he's not stupid and when shit goes down - he goes into 'Batman' mode - whether he has the suit or not. And yes, the name 'Richard' was a nice little easter-egg but, I feel like the story lacked so much mythos that it was just a book with Batman’s name slapped on the front - Kinda like the Catwoman movie. The plot could've either been about a 26 year-old Bruce getting to know Dick Grayson and assimilating him into the role of Robin and Bruce getting used to the fact that he is no longer only looking out for himself. Or about him developing that Playboy persona by focusing on that part of his life - maybe meeting a teenage Selina or Silver St. Cloud - as well as developing his relationship with Commissioner Gordon and have him meet a toddler version of Barbara or something - since she's usually slightly older than Dick (Unless it's N52), whilst dealing with some Falcone crime or something - which is what Batman initially dealt with and introduce characters like: Thomas Elliot and Harvey Dent as his circle of friends - foreshadowing what they will go on to do. And if you really wanna get freaky, maybe have him meet a seventeen-year-old Harley Quinn and foreshadow her character a bit - not have them in a relationship but a suggestive-platonic one - i.e. kinda touchy-feel, but ultimately just really good friends and Harleen could have two roomates - Pammy and Selina, who Bruce already knows because...reasons, like I dunno stealing the wheels of his car, Jason done it. Why can't Sel? Ultimately, this rubs me the wrong way and it had so much potential, but the plot and Bruce's characterisation is it's biggest issue - don't even get me started on the villain, like I get it she didn't want to use Joker - but if that's your issue that you can't tell a good Batman story without the Joker, then that's just poor storytelling I'm afraid - Arkham Origins much? Like, don’t worry I totally respect you opinion of the book - I just had a lot of baggage that came along with my reading - I mean I can’t shove 15 Years worth of Batman knowledge out over one book. Repost form GoodReads.
i actually had to pause and rewind and listen again....and then again.... why shade on Sarah J Maas? ;( *but then I'm ToG trash so don't mind me* ps. I wasn't too excited about this book because Batman......meh. But now I want to read it, thank you
Two reasons: I really don't like her writing style and I did my senior thesis on examining ACOTAR so I'm sick of the story. You're welcome! We all have different tastes, nothing wrong with that!
yeah, that makes perfect sense! But you know....when you're knees deep in love with something and anyone dares to have different opinion HOW COULD YOU DISS MY MAAS :P
"You can't just go into a government office and demand to see someone's file." Sounds like you're not a billionaire! (But seriously, it sounds like you've led a really interesting life. I'd read your memoir.)
The book was one of my most favorite books to be honest! The story was so great! I loved this book and the Catwoman book!
What's your favorite part of the book
