    @smlhorses it is actually a jug knot used for carrying jugs (wine bottles etc) but it can be used on the hackmore. i have used it many times and found it quite usefull

    @smlhorses it is a bit confusing sometimes, two knots might be falled hackamore of fiadore knots. the one you make the rope halter from is diffrent to this one, but you deed it on the fiadore before you tie this one, the rope that goes behind the pole ties onto its loops. this one is what ive always known as a jug knot, its the one you tie the fiadore to the bottome of the bosal with.

    @Tekii184 I was just using some smallish diameter nylon braided rope that you can get at Wal-Mart. For a standard horse, I use anywhere from 11 to 14 feet depending on how thick of a throatlatch they have.

    This is not a fiador knot it is a jug knot used below the fiador right at the throat.

    This is a different knot to the one for tying the halter. I have always seen the knot for the halter called a hackamore or a fiadore knot, and they are used for both making a rope halter and a fiadore. I have always seen this knot called a bottle knot and this is the knot used to tie the fiadore onto the bosal, not to actually make the fiadore itself.

    This is the jug knot. the fiador knot is a more decorative knot than this, googling it brings you straight to it.

    @smlhorses I don't think it's the same knot used on the rope halter, but I might be mistaken. I don't make rope halters. There is a video that usually pops up to the left that demonstrates how to make a halter with a fiador knot.

    Would you show how to make this into a rope halter? There are tons of videos but you are the only one that teaches this not in a way that makes sense.

    That is a sash cord you are using and that is NOT a fiador knot...you showed a hackamore knot, though it should have a double bite not a single. The heel knot of the bosal will be in the center where you showed after removing the double bite and pulling it back through. Then the fiador knot is built to finish in the throat latch.

    That knot could certainly work for a halter, but it's not as pretty as a fiador knot. I've yet to find a good way to tie a fiador knot without laying the ropes out on a table.

    Doubling the piece of rope, is the proper way for tying a Fiador. The rope should be long enough to reach over the poll and tye to loop end. Remember this is basically a throat latch for your bosal/hackamore. Jmho

    Is that not a Jug Sling knot, not a Fiador?

    • @maouinin6790
      @maouinin6790 8 лет назад

      Absolutely correct. The actual fiador knot is a 4-strand diamond knot tied with one line. When completed, it comprises two loops on one side and one loop and two ends on the other. The knot in this video is known as the jug sling knot or the hackamore knot.
