I absolutely LOVE Germany! I lived in northern Germany for a year as an Au Pair and it's pretty much amazing. If you get the opportunity, go again around Christmas time... even better food and shopping.
I feel sorry for you that you went to Frankfurt on a Sunday, in Germany everything is closed on that day, all shops etc. (Some places make exceptions for tourists especually near the Main Station) :)
I love watching people get excited about my country :D oh yes and the "monument worshipping the euro" is there because the European Central Bank has it's headquarters in Frankfurt (also the reason why there is are so many banks there) *facts*
how lovely, you experienced the "deutsche bahn" (german railway) in all its gloriness! trains here are either later or cancelled or they just stop at one station and tell you, that you have to get out because the train can't go any further :D

Manda Louise Im from Frankfurt and I say my town is beautiful but when you come too germany go too Berlin or Munich, Hamburg thats better and bigger Cities more sightseeing etc...
This made me happy and sad. Happy because a little less then a year ago (by 12days) I was there and I miss it so much. The sad part is watching it and remember all the good memories but knowing it's gunna be a LONG while tell I get to go back

The Sunday thing really weirded me out when I first got to Hannover. Hannover Hbf (Hauptbahnhof = main/central station) actually has a few things open on a Sunday though, unlike the rest of the City which is closed apart from cafes and kiosks (cheap shops which sell cigarettes, chocolate and alcohol).
I'm living in Frankfurt, i love the city and when you wake up, (i'm living in a penthouse) you can see all the towers and the sun. We have the biggest multiculturalism here. All people, japanese, korean, brazilian, either indian people love to come here. And our airport is the biggest in Germany. I'm glad that you enjoyed it here 🍙💴
Be happy that you stranded in Frankfurt/Main. There are two Frankfurts in Germany - Frankfurt/Main and Frankfurt/Oder. The second Frankfurt is a one horse town.

Reminds me of when I was in Frankfurt and some American tourist asked me directions in German and of course I didn't know (I'm American) and she walked away talking trash about me in English about how she asked me perfectly and I was so rude.
In Germany especially those big cities there are a lot people who speak English very well, if u just want to travel there, don't worry about the language

Frankfurt hbf is the short form of Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof which means frankfurt central station :D

I've only been to Berlin and München's Hauptbahnhof using both U-bahn and S-bahn. Very reliable to getting around and seeing everything.
I checked out the Goethe-Haus and Zeil Street in Frankfort this summer,very cool !
