    Weird idea here, X-Ray. (Sorry, couldn't resist. If you don't like it, let me know and you'll never see it again.) If you don't like the stock pickups and think single coils might do you better, why not try P-94 style pickups? They'll fit into a humbucker slot (That's what they're FOR!) while giving you a fatter single coil tone that might sit well with the baritone's thicker strings and longer scale length. Maybe get a cheap set off Amazon or eBay before or instead of committing Gibson-level scratch for the upgrade.

    • @TylerJohnstonGuitar
      @TylerJohnstonGuitar Год назад +1

      P-94s are a huge upgrade for just about any guitar in my opinion. There’s just so much more clarity vs a humbucker.

    • @TorqueBow

      What is a P94 pickup? I have heard of a P90, but not a P94

    • @TylerJohnstonGuitar
      @TylerJohnstonGuitar Год назад +1

      @@TorqueBow It’s basically just a humbucker sized P-90, so you don’t need to modify your guitar by making the pickup cavities bigger.

    • @edwinstovall3334
      @edwinstovall3334 Год назад +1

      @@TorqueBow A P-94 is only a regular P-90 coil mounted in a humbucker casing. This packaging allows a guitar routed for humbuckers to use P-90s without further woodwork. The sound remains intact because the pickup stays the same; it really only LOOKS different!😎

      I have one of these myself and use 13-72s on it and they suffice perfectly for drop F tuning. The notes are clear as day and it's easy to play. Though, I could see myself going to 78s or 80s and going to something utterly insane like double drop D and it would work just fine.

    I have the sun zero version of this I had issues with all you had first locking tuners are a must. Second a Duncan distortion pickup is great on this type of guitar it doesn’t have as much bass to it and doesn’t get muddy. I’ve been down that rabbit hole and that pickup just works. I got songs on my page if you wanna hear it in action I would highly recommend it.

    • @Ottophil
      @Ottophil Год назад +2

      Baritone is the scale length.

    • @OrlandoAponte
      @OrlandoAponte Год назад +4

      More specifically, baritone refers to a vocal pitch range that is between tenor and bass. You’ll hear its usage in a variety of musical contexts, typically when an instrument with a normally tenor range is pitched lower than usual. There are also baritone acoustic guitars, saxophones, and horns (which is what I think you were referring to). With electric guitars, it typically refers to a scale length which is 27” at minimum, but shorter than a bass guitar scale length, which is usually 34”. Normally, baritone guitars are tuned lower than standard scale length guitars, but it is technically possible to play in standard tuning. Longer scale lengths offer increased string tension, which means you can use thinner strings to achieve a pitch than you would on a guitar with a shorter scale length. This makes it easier to tune to lower pitches.

    On my 28 inch scale 8string last tuner is far away, reversed headstock.
    And I have been finding that all manufacturers are producing very weird bug. String lengths are different from pack to pack. For a year used DR, because of preferred string guage and length, recently tried to swap strings and last string was half inch short, bummer.
    This problem as well exists with dingwall basses, my friend keeps finding that what's written isn't a case from time to time. So, if everyone who is interested in long scales, be aware that you have limited choice of strings/guages.
    Being in Europe it's kinda pricey to buy custom sets and pay all of the fees for importing something from abroad.

I recently bought 5 Jim Root Telecasters and all came significantly defected (massive cracks on the body, cracks on the neck, extremely bad nut, bad finish, glue on the fretboard, terrible frets that doesn't let you to do bends etc.) All of the guitars were 2022 manufactured. The last one I got was with switch slot comptely torn apart (it was looking like someone hit it with hammer).
