While I usually also prefer more chiselled face sculpts á la Guido Guidi's designs, I think that Mirage's G1 toy bio depicting him as a hedonistic aristocrat makes Sphinx's softish features, puffy lips and slightly droopy eyes suit him. He really looks like kind of guy used to be all about receiving as much pleasure as possible before the war broke out. Not a big fan of the alternate faces, though. That said, this figure is utterly delectable and tempting.
Yeah, he also did hot rod. Maybe it's because there are already too many reviews of those and less of 3p? Maybe it's because 3P companies send him these to review and Has/Tak doesn't?
Well its been a few years, how is the rubber anyone else who watches this video in 2022? I never got a Sphinx in my collection, so Im curious if anyone can say
rear wheels shouldn't move but hey it's not a real car, , but the vehicle mode is awesome! I think the head is the worst part, not the face but it looks cheap, everything gets paint except the head! even some panel lining would be better. but overall one of the few 3rd party MP transformers I would consider getting. Great review!
+VBane Invisible just doesn't stack up to something like this. One of the biggest issues I've had with mine is the rear wheels and how they just don't fit into a solid transformation. I was waiting on a review of this figure before deciding on it, I'll be trading up for this one over DX9's for sure.
+VBane DX9 are some good solid figures, but they don't fit the MP look very closely. I have Chigurh for instance - which is frustrating because with just a couple different design cues he COULD have fit the MP shelves perfectly.
+youmongrel What do you think about DX9's Galvatron? Personally, I think that they did an absolutely great job on capturing the character, with the exception that the cannon treads are on his back rather than on his triceps. I'm also not a big fan of the curved feet (mostly only noticeable when looking at the sides though) and he could be a little shorter (I have another small, unmentioned nitpick) but despite these things (specifically the treads and feet) he's quite accurate. They almost nailed the character in my opinion so personally, I think that he fits perfectly with the masterpiece line where looks are concerned. He just needs to be a little shorter to scale perfectly.
This is an awesome figure. Personally though, I think that they should have left the chest totally white. There shouldn't be any red striping, text, or a number. He didn't have any of that in the cartoon. He only had an Autobot symbol. For people that want to put a symbol on his chest, parts of the number sticking out to the sides (maybe even top and bottom) of the symbol will look very awkward. Unless of course, you use a sticker that's big enough to totally cover the number. It's apparent though that they weren't just going by the cartoon. They were obviously going by the G1 figure as well since it does have the number and text (no red striping though). I also don't like the red striping because as somebody else pretty much mentioned, it makes him look like he's wearing a jersey. I know, I'm being nitpicky but when it comes to a masterpiece-style figure, it should be as cartoon-accurate as possible down to the smallest detail. However, as I mentioned, they were obviously looking at the G1 toy as well so it looks like they wanted to incorporate some of that into the figure.
That transformation is amazing and the posabilty is insane! I hope I can get my hands on one someday
So, after 3-to-4 years, how is the rubber on the tires holding up?
The rubber tires on mine are still like new, like when I bought it. So far, they are holding up beautifully.
Thank you for showing the head reveal up close. I was having the damndest time getting it up prior to this.
I'm so happy with this toy Vangelus. Likely the best toy i ever bought in 2015
Have the 'rubber' tires held up?

@@jaybreezy1669 splendid
The ship was full
I really want that parachute, but maybe I can 3d print one.
His multifunctional neck. He can Do The Egyptian!
Bangles playing.

Oh man, I hope they release a Diaclone red version of him later to go along with the other Diaclone MPs. Maybe with a retooled head, too.
At this point in time i dont really know if im a transformers fan or just a fan of really cool engineering? lol
Can we have a masterpiece version of cliffjumpers so we can remake that scene in the g1 series where cliff and mirage had sexual tension
Great review. It's concise and informative
The robot mode is so sweet how devoid of kibble it is. Its like an S.H. Figuarts Mirage.
The Robot Mode looks like he's wearing a basketball jersey, and I think thats neat.
So how are those gooo year tires
AHH I STILL LOVE HIM
How are those special tires holding up? :)
The rubber tires on mine are still like new, like when I bought it. So far, they are holding up beautifully.
Looks for the Vulcun review.
"Goo year" the best tire company in the United states.
nonono. It's "GOOO YEAR." not "Goo year"
Tyre
So, his joints have endure the test of time?
I hope an MMC Spartan review is in the works. Easily tops many people's 3rd party figure of the year list
gorgeous!
And who's gonna throw Vange1us down the staircase? Skywarp?

Why are there so many 3rd party Mirage toys?
Is that Planet X Vulcan?
Great review. Waiting on the Planet X Vulcun one.
Why only unofficial Masterpiece toys?
+gilgamesh10 what do you mean? He's reviewed a couple officials before.
Yeah maybe MP 10 and how many years was that. I think the last MP that was released was MP25.
Yeah, he also did hot rod. Maybe it's because there are already too many reviews of those and less of 3p? Maybe it's because 3P companies send him these to review and Has/Tak doesn't?
that robot mode aesthetic look so sexy

This looks very good, but that Vulcun sneak-peek is sexy too

The smiley face + the paint mess up kinda makes him look creepy XD
You got me saying thingamadood! lol
So long story short, this is Not-Masterpiece Not-Mirage.
Awesome review!!! He looks like an amazing figure.
this one is way better then the DX9
Mirage's face is cute..
Watched =)
Have you had a chance to get your hands on DX9 Invisible yet? Wondering about your opinions between the two.
+VBane I wasn't interested in Invisible, he just felt like a weird roadblock on the road to Cocomone, haha
(toy is way better as Cocomone IMO)

+Vangelus I love Cocomone, you going to review it?

+DeathCuddles I saw a review of it...it's sick.

MECHA-SEXY!

I don't like this toy.
