So happy to see Kyle joining you. Van life is so cool but alone time has its limits. We are very excited to come along with you on the trip. When ever you get your caravans of Travatos going be sure to take lots of videos. Would love to see dozens to Travatos passing by with smiling and waving Tra-va-toe-ans!
Great idea to do this, just a personal perspective. Most RV'ers love to have a "mission". I bet 99% of them have heard about RT. 66 but have never done it. I'd also guess that at least 95% of people do not travel in a van and never will so this opens up a whole new audience for you. Most people would like to find out about new places they have never been to check out instead of videos about vans, if there not into vans.
Thank you Scott this nice going down Route 66. Nice knowing sone history behind these hotels and restaurants. Very nice to know. Can’t wait til the next video. And nice to see Kyle. Nice he’s going along for the ride. See you soon! Safe travels.
Loved this video. Been to downtown Chicago numerous times. Had no idea Route 66 started by the Art Institute. Enjoyed your stops and history discussions. Really looking forward to your next video 😁. Thanks for taking all of us along on the adventure.
Hi, First, I want to commend you on your video and enthusiasm for Americana and The Mother Road, as well as van life. Been following you a while. Second, I just want to say that I share in your passion. I had wanted to travel Route 66 most of my life, and I was re-inspired by the 2006 movie “Cars”. However, it wasn’t until an initially negative circumstance in my life, in 2012, that I was given the final motivation, and time, I needed to take the trip and do it properly over a month time with my better-half that summer. It was actually my and our first cross-country road trip. Really both of our first road trip across more than two States. Little did I know, though I had a wonderful and complete trip, that it was so much more than can be done in even a month. At the end of the trip I was left wanting for more. Without exaggeration, my life had been changed by this trip and I would never be the same. I had the wanderlust which eventually became VANderlust, and there was no going back. It’s like the beautiful Brad Paisley song, “Find Yourself” from “Cars” says, “Cause sometimes when you lose your way, it’s really just as well...because you find yourself...”. That’s what I did on that trip and subsequently took 2 more round trips on Route 66 since then. The first two in our Mustang GT, and the third in my first RV trailer. We have yet to do it again in my van, but we intend to. In the meantime that first trip inspired us to go on so many more amazing trips, extending our time as much as possible. I was so motivated by the first trip I ended up starting to work with a Route 66 tourism company that next year in 2013. And I still have a personal and business connection with the Road to this day. So if you have any questions or need further guidance, please do not hesitate to ask me. Would love to meet up with you sometime on the road. In the meantime remember... Life is a Journey...Enjoy the Ride !
hey VANderlsut. Apprecaite your thoughtful comment. Let’s put something together. I’m overwhelemed at this point of R 66, and cannot get enough. Shoot me an email plz… GSLLviewerRecommendation@gmail.com
It was a pleasure to join you and Kyle on the trip from Pontiac IL to Springfield. I encourage all other viewers to meet up with Scott if you have the opportunity along his journey. Great first video. I have had several great meals at Del Rhea's Chicken Basket when I did work in Willowbrook. They have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. In addition to chicken, they make the best Mac N Cheese. Cecilia and I will be following your trip. Safe Travels for both you and Kyle.
Hello from Cape Cod! Just found your channel and so glad that I did!!! I’m not in a van yet but Route 66 is on my bucket list. Looking forward to following you on your travels! Stay safe!
Hey Scott, looking forward to this series... love it so far... really like how you highlight the major spots along the way without dragging on for to long like so many do... Rte 66 is on my bucket list and hopefully will be able to travel the mother road (once the border opens again... Canadian looking forward to traveling again)... safe journey's and as always hope to see you down the road!!
That was SO much fun to watch! I liked, subscribed, and will stay tuned for more Route 66 adventures. That is my ultimate bucket list trip. Didn't know about the app you mentioned, but I will definitely get that before making the trip someday. Thanks for all the great information.
You go, Scott! I'm originally from Chicago so the start brought back lots of memories. You didn't show us your order from Henry's hot dogs! I'm glad to see Kyle got his hair back. Hey, didn't he get a van of his own???? Safe travels! Eating all this good food is going to be rough on your system....and so much of it sounds great!
Ive done parts of route 66 but not the entire thing. I definitely would love to do the entire route. I absolutely love the retro/vintage motel and restaurant signs. I am a child of the 60’s. Looking forward to the entire trip! I love MCM stuff. You should put Palm Springs in Oct or Feb on your list. They have a MCM vintage event. So fun to see Kyle joining you!!!!!!!
Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Looking for to the ongoing adventure. My first trip in the T went well. For boondocking experience next for me.
Loving your trip and all the Route 66 sights. Looks like you can eat uniquely all along your route. How about an interview with Kyle? He seems to be enjoying himself a lot.
Hi Scott, and Kyle,0 So, you guys were at my old hang out. I had many dinners with my family at the Chicken Basket❗️I was there a few years ago and had dinner. I was surprised it was still there because you have to Neander around to get into the place but it’s worth it. It seems you guys enjoyed the chicken too. Thanks for the memories❗️ Mama Bev hugs🧸 🚐💨 PS do they still have the old jukebox on display❓ Great job guys❗️
Love seeing those familiar Chicago landscapes! Great time to start in Chicago on Sunday at 7:00 am. Love all of the little tips along the way. This is why many of us have or are getting an RV especially a Class B - to see all of these fun and funky sights. So nostolgic! So many diners and cool places. So glad Kyle could join you. Have fun - I have never been on Rte 66 so this is great.
Love the format so far. The app looks decent. I’m excited to see the trip and I’ll complete it some day. I’ve only been on 66 from Flagstaff to Oatman Az and it was amazing to me. I love the old road and the Americana it represents. ✌🏼
Hi Scott! Wow! You’re living the dream! I’m looking forward to following you on your epic journey on Route 66. I’m happy for you that Kyle was able to join you. It’s fantastic to see you together and you both look happy. We have driven various parts of Route 66 in our 2018 Travato G and loved ever inch. Safe travels and keep on the journey! Chuck and Dave.
Great video! I love all the vintage signs. Tim and I did a portion of Route 66 in New Mexico a couple of months ago. There is so much history! It's sad to see so many of the buildings abandoned though.
Love the video. What you should do is weigh yourself when you start and then weigh yourself at the end to see how much weight gain with all the drive-thrus. 😃😆😅🤣😂😭😉
Hi Scott! So happy to follow this series! I don't travel in a van but pull a small travel trailer so any information on locations or segments not travel trailer friendly would be most appreciated. Thanks!
I'm looking forward to this series. I've been on many parts and never seen others. I'm also always looking out for roads I need to stay away from while driving. (heights, yikes!) 😆
It's hard to fathom that route 66 was once a major route to Los Angeles for this massive country. Looking forward to seeing more travel videos. Safe travels.
Spiffy Kino 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 love all the history and tips on how you are doing this rout 66. My parents did it on their honeymoon in 1947. It’s on my bucket list. Nice job!!
