Thanks for sharing the video. I had a similar issue but the plastic plate under the console that you mentioned can pop out was still in place. But I did get brake response while messing with the wires. I just zip tied the shift lock lever that the solenoid activated in the down position to avoid having to purchase replacement components. Also was able to do this without removing the plastic cowling entirely, i just popped off the one segment of plastic near the gas pedal and was able to get in there with a zip tie. Your video helped get me into the right area without to much time on a work night.
Thanks, I considered the zip tie as well but by doing that the Solenoid would activate every time the brake is applied, Even while driving. I was concerned I would burn out the solenoid since it’s probably not designed for that much use.
@@johningrassia2381 good point! But since my solenoid isn’t working I’m ok with this fix, Nissan seems to be terribly over priced I just paid 260$ for a new key fob and I’m not wanting to give them any more money any time soon. Zip ties are cheap, lol.
I added comments on the other video where you shared the amazon link. I fixed mine just now. One thing I like to add is that, when you remove this piece or sensor then ohm it out to be sure if it is the problem. It read infinity when I touched the two leads and 24ohms when the switched was pressed. The new one read 0ohm when pressed which make sense since pressing it make it a short.
Thank you so much, just tried it and it worked. I had been shifting with the shift lock realease to get out of parking and i hated it. You are a life saver and money saver my friend
Bro, i am soo hoping that is my issue lol. I just had my wife take it to the dealership and they of course want to replace the entire assembly for the low low price of $717.00 :)
I'm so glad I found this video I'm having the same problem on my wife's car and she is bent outta shape over it well thanks too your video I'll be ripping apart to take a look
Sounds like the cvt is on its way out. Check if they extended the warranty for your year and have the dealership test it. If it is the transmission you should file a complaint with Nissan corporate. That’s what I did and Nissan over 80% of the new transmission
I just stuck in the emergency release slot a plastic stick from a painting and depressed it down in it and left it there...have no problem shifting now for years. Unstuck
Maybe this may help someone & save a lot of grief & money. First shift in low {shifter all the way back} Then carefully remove "radio trim" with trim tool or clean puddy knife. It will pop out rather easily. This exposes two screws securing woodgrain plastic shifter trim & trim will pop out easily, remove this to the side. Next unsnap shift plate P.R.N.D.1 and turn it sideways. Study the linkage in there ! I used an 8" zip tie & weaved it through and around linkage securing it well which permanently holds switch in unlocked position. Mechanical fingers were very helpful. No need to remove console ! As far as I'm concerned ? It's done.
Want to fix the problem once and for all Pop the plastic lever that the actuator moves to allow the shifter button lever to come down out and cut a 1/4” off the top!(it’s the lever that moves when he pushes the brake at the beginning of the video) That voids any of the electrical aspect of the shift lock and takes away the obstruction. If you have the skill to pull the whole console and hvac controls this is just as easy
There is a contact switch mounted to the back of the part that has came out of the slot. That was causing my problem. Replaced the part from Digi-Key part # SW865-ND or SS-01GL13
My 2013 Nissan Sentra hit 101,000 miles recently and now my car is getting stuck in park every other day. I think the shift interlock solenoid is the problem. I spoke with pepboys over the phone and they were saying its probably the transmission. I hope not though 😫!
Malanie Jones worth a shot to give this a look.. I would bet it’s not the transmission.. although those cvt are really bad my wife’s crapped out at 120k
@@kashmirsanders3790 apparently the problem with my 2013 Nissan is that the shifter assembly actuator inside the shifter does not always release. That's why my shifter kept getting stuck in park 🙄. I just got it fixed March 6th, 2020. The Nissan dealership charged me $556 to get it fixed.
I have a 2014 Sentra and after 1) changing the PCV valve, 2) changing the Mass Air Flow Sensor, 3) changing the air filter, 4) checking for cracks in the boot that goes from the MAF to the throttle body, and 5) cleaning the relatively clean throttle body [because of hesitation at low RPM, stalling going from Park to Drive or Reverse], I not only still have the problem, but I seem to be stuck in 1st gear. Any idea?

@mzava14 There’s a sensor for the shifter that’s located underneath the center console area and you just need to replace it. The sensor is very small and I believe is connected to the purple wires the guy was showing on the video.
During this process, you will remove the ANTENNA for the Key fob! It's located on the back cover of the center console storage! If you have disconnected this antenna, you WILL get NO KEY DETECTED errors! Disconnect the positive battery post, wait 10 minutes, and reconnect all your connectors, to ensure your KEY FOB IS DETECTED.
Arco Llorens I don’t think I had to disconnect that.. is that behind the push to start? Because that panel doesn’t need to be removed to access the entire center console
I pretty sure al cars for the most part work like this when it comes to shift lock. Your best bet to figure out how to open up your center console is google your vehicle and you should find some videos that’ll point you in the right direction
@@johningrassia2381 Thank you. I'll take a look at the 2nd one in a bit. I'm gonna give it a few days and see if the problem fixes itself. In the meantime I'll just press the shift lock button

This is the switch the tells the car the stick is in the park position. This lets the shift lock solenoid only activate when the car is in park.. or else the shift lock would work every time the brake is hit (even in drive) and that would ware the solenoid out over time.

Can you please post a link to the product on amazon ? it's expired.
Could you not just complete the circuit so it never requires the brake to shift the gear ?
Probably, it’s worth a shot if you’re okay with not having the safety. I would leave your kids inside alone with the car running
