I must mention: Zhang took a lot of inspiration from Saenchai in the fight. She was swinging hips back and forth and leaning from high kicks here and there. That really shows how coachable she is, cause I believe she wasn't training with him for much time
Too bad it's not 5 rds so we can see how that fight really plays out. 3 rds favors Rose, but this is good for the ufc. They want her to win to set up Weilei vs Rose.
Robert Whittaker died so Yoel Romero could whine about Izzy not engaging, in a fight in which he spent 24 minutes waving his hands menacingly. Hold me, jack, I'm sad.
@@vipa8403 on my area of the internet (Whittaker fanboys) people are only blaming izzy. I will say, that i think izzy was always trying to find a way to engage but failing, where as Romero was just "i will only engage when you engage me" until the last round. Nicely wrapped up. This weekend was triumphantly dominated by the Tony Ferguson Khabib Nurmegomedov conference. The press were absolutely terrible apart from the Schmo making his refreshing appearance. Thank God I get BT Sports 4k with my TV package and I get these fights for free in a PPV standpoint.
I'm so impressed that JJ continued after that straght right on the schnoz. Most fighters would accept that they'd come to the end of their toughness after all that and then the nose getting smashed- a bit like the last body shot from Barbosa against Dan Hooker, it was just one too many. Romero was a total hypocrite at the end- trying to play the man of the people bollocks after wasting another title shot (which was obviously undeserved in the first place) puting blame on Adesanya after literally standing still for 2 minutes. All his conspicuous piety and false modesty of the religious stuff is pretty irritating (so humble to believe some magic man chose you to be special!) but I thought his behaviour in this fight and afterwards was really disapppointing and pretty pathetic to be honest. He was annoyed that Adesanya didn't fight the way he wanted him to fight? Adesanya talked a bit much before the fight- saying he would knock him out etc.- which made things look worse - but the idea he should've run straight into Romero is ridiculous.
@@michaelpoon4170 Definitely didn't outclass him for 5 rounds but I thought Adesanya won it- though he wasn't blameless either. I just don't understand Romero's thinking- I do think his interview was pathetic and stemmed from embarrassment that he'd just wasted likely his last title shot.but it was still weird. Though as has been pointed out by some others (lke Hardy) this is not new for Romero, he always tries to get away with doing as little as possible.
Mostly when it comes to high level judo, you end up seeing the ko uchi gari which is just a variation of the inside trip using the outside of the lead foot to sweep out the inside of the opponent's rear once you shift them to a parallel stance
Adesanya has had a relatively soft run for a title holder. Win against Silva who was past it. Interim Belt from Gastelum who is not a real contender, rusty Whittaker after a 2 year lay off, Romero who is past it and who didn't fight. He has a very shaky claim to the belt. Costa is going to shock the cringe out of him. Im sick of hearing his fanboys making excuses for him.
The joanna zhang fight confirms straw weight as my favourite female division by a mile. When people say that the female divisions don't have as much talent as the mens, I do have to ask, which male divisions could produce a fight like that right now? I think we can say most could do it, but light heavyweight and heavyweight probably couldn't, and that everything above 155 hasn't produced a fight like that for a while, unless my memory is failing me.
@@justhereforfun100 lawler condit was a long time ago. Same with lawler Rory. Gastelum Izzy was nowhere near as competitive as this imo. I'll give you usman-covington tho, great fight. Romero- Whitaker 2 is another that I'd have to say had all the elements of a great fight.
It took years for WMMA to have a fight like that. We're not going to ignore the fact that there is only 1 decent women's division. Apart from 115, there is nothing lol Nunes and Shevchenko be damned.
Very stupid for Romero to keep that do nothing style he has. It was most likely his last shot at the title and he acted like it was nothing. I hate it.
The problem with Romero is he is , and do not take this the wrong way, a fucking savage animal, at the chemical and unconscious visual level. His hard ware is top shelf in terms of vision and neuro-muscular firing speed, but his ability to read and change rhythm, vector and rate of acceleration is a problem for an opponent looking for a clean striking exchange. Costa was a bit different in that he was another Tonka truck of about the same proportions, with as much pop coming back. Jucy boi tois.
San Pedro doesn't have a high crime rate, but that doesn't mean it isn't a difficult area to grow up in. High crime rates are typically seen in areas that are highly populated/dense. Also, understand that LA isn't segregated into "nice parts" and "bad parts" with barriers or anything. You could be in a "nice area" and walk two blocks and suddenly be in the hood.
To offer a statsy reason for no-gi tournaments being won by more gi players than no-gi purists, just imagine how many people practice BJJ in the world and how many of those are no-gi only players; statistically you should expect no-gi tourneys to be won be people that practice in the gi, because there are just so many more people who train BJJ in the gi. I imagine there are 100 :1 traditional BJJ schools : no-gi only schools. If it were 50 : 50, I would expect there to be few no-gi tourneys won by people that split their time with the gi and without.

The takedowns were not counted though, if i'm not mistaken. But regarding the striking: Israel recovered from any shot that Yoel has landed, after the fight he barely had a scratch on him, whereas Romero's leg looked terrible. More importantly, Romero was visibly hurt badly whenever Adesanya drove his shin into Romero's thigh. Not saying that the fight wasn't extremely frustrating though.
Can't understand how people can be mad at Adesanya. Romero has had 3 title fights and this time he absolutly looked like he coulnd't care less. If you're the contender you have the beat the champion and didnt do that. Also did anyone else noticed that he had took his gloves off in the octagon?
Pedro Santo he beat him. I think it’s fucked up that if u don’t knock out a champion. Most of the time it goes to the champion. Even if u did more. Yoel IMO won the fight. 1,2,5 did more than Izzy. Izzy was hurt twice and also ran away from Romero a couple I times. He was scared for his life. Yoel ain’t trying to tire himself out. And Izzy isn’t trying to get knocked out. It was a chess match.
