Laughing along with someone laughing just because of a nervous tick they have doesn’t make my laughter feel authentic and I’m taking on his nervousness. Like when the lady in the grocery store laughs nervously as her toddler kicks you in the shins, you laugh with her but certainly not because you are enjoying yourself but because you have taken on her nervousness.
@@richardjohnson6489 true that. only thing to consider: He´s doing fine. That is actually his nEXT STEP. Watch his videos from one year ago... the guy is progressing a lot!! he´ll get rid of those awkward laughs, im sure.
One bonus of "economy of motion" is that it plays well with 808s. If you're not jumping around all over the keyboard, it's usually easier to lock in a bass line without taking your 808 too far from its starting pitch by following your chord progression.
Sometimes you make a beat and it's not just about putting sounds together. You gotta chop and screw it up! Get something you've never done or heard before. Basic concepts that deliver 🔥 results. Great video Ed 🔥👊🏾
Ayeeeeee hello 😀😀 I really appreciate your work And you dont have any idea on how much your vedios are helpful to me as a person who is just starting out in music production...... By the way Can you test out free daw cakewalk and review it????? Because Ableton and fl are just too expensive to begin with And grage band etc are very limiting Please 🥺🥺?
A good quick tip is to change something every 4 or 8 bars. Change meaning to add or remove instruments, change octaves, change the instrument that's playing the chords or the melody, change up the groove a little bit. It doesn't have to be big... just different.
Ed you've taught me so much over the past few weeks. I'm new to the beatmaking world and would love to show you my first beat. Do you still do these kind of projects where you rate/mess with people's beats?
Economy of motion.lol. you are referring to voice leading. It's not just what is close, in a certain key, specific notes move in a specific direction. For example the flat 7 always resolves down. The major third always resolves upwards. It's what you learn in the first month of theory.
I’m not good at english try to learn how to make music from him. Although just a lil bit from each video but the way he laugh is always positive and inspires me !
Bro! Gems as always! 💎🙏 Watched the video all the way through, now time to go back and take notes to keep next to me while cooking up. Trying these for sure when I get home! The economy of motion tip blew my mind. Such a simple way to create chords that flow perfectly!
Economy of motion has its place, but it can turn a great progression into mush. It doesn't give you enough control over how closely spaced your intervals are, and close intervals make mud. Likewise, you can get trapped with your chords all having the same top note, which is what will be the most predominant sound your listener will hear. Parallel movement is a vibe, and can improve your song by clarifying your harmonic information. It's why guitar players play power chords. In fact, your whole item #4 slice technique is all parallel movement.
I love how Ed always laughs after almost every scentence
It’s so annoying because it dismisses his points and creates awkward situations as a viewer.

@@richardjohnson6489 i think he's not nervous, it's just the way he really is- happy and cheerful.
yup. i hear ya. i still feel the way i do but i acknowledge your point of view. thanks for sharing

Ahhh yes! Inversions
Yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh...
I learned a lot, too.
Btw you can get as carried away as you want. It’s fun to watch you create while you teach us.
🔥🔥🔥
wait that Em is inverted right?
Yep 1st inversion.
E G B root position
G B E first inversion
B E G second inversion.
Is it still a Melody?
Please comment after seeing my video
So you made a chord progression but only used the first part 5head
Your videos are great, but really... the "moving hands" thing is so overwhelming, that it is a major distraction to the viewers.
When Ed touch that hat......
YOU know he is gonna spit fire 🔥

For free
Hats off to ed and all the producers out there 🔥
I really admire that he can make anything look easy
Because he's a professional. If u take the time to learn. U can get at his level. Just takes a lot of time and practice, music theory, etc.
Sometimes you make a beat and it's not just about putting sounds together. You gotta chop and screw it up! Get something you've never done or heard before. Basic concepts that deliver 🔥 results. Great video Ed 🔥👊🏾

And you dont have any idea on how much your vedios are helpful to me as a person who is just starting out in music production......

Because Ableton and fl are just too expensive to begin with
And grage band etc are very limiting
Please 🥺🥺?
I use garage band to make beats and it isnt that bad
could you make a tutorial to get better at arranging? i mean to make the beats more interesting
It would help a lot

Is variating Italian for varying? Sorry dude, maybe I'm missing something.
Ed why your channel is rated "for kids" by RUclips? I can't turn on the notifications for your channel, even though I really want to!

Very helpful video 💯🔥, can you also make a informative video like this for mix and mastering?
I came for the stank face......
thanks for very informative video, however didn't like what you did with the sample. sounded better before flipping imo
i think you're confusing melodies with chord progressions.
I’m not good at english try to learn how to make music from him. Although just a lil bit from each video but the way he laugh is always positive and inspires me !
Plz keep talking about music theory, it really helps
Its amazing how in every video you seem so excited about what you're doing and i love it
The 10 minute limit on videos has been gone for years now. Take your time. This felt really rushed through.
Why are everyone wanna leave music theory a way? We are not in school iam watch Ing this bcs of learning is that True? I decide it 🤣 bring it Back
Hallo ken you tel mij hoe ik geld over kan houden best eerlijk music over hpud

Mans got his fans on a monthly retainer. Genius.
All the techniques presented are quite interesting, but a bit by themselve.. meh quite average.
technique 1 is called (smooth) voice leading :)
dope work bro, really inspiring to see your progress last year and a half. keep up!
Thy for the nice Video (greetings from Germany)
So economy of motion is basically inversion
This guy's vocabulary is laughter

I like your videos, but you really need to process the audio so it doesn't clip.
