How to Prepare Mortar for Brickwork in Site in Tamil | Mix Ratio for Brickwork | Civil Practical Knowledge in Tamil.
This civil practical video we will show how to apply mix ratio theory in construction site to prepare brickwork mortar.. Every mortar or concrete have a specific mix ratio for particular work.. Based on the mix ratio of mortar the strength will be varied.. So how to exactly prepare mortar based on the mix ratio is shown here..
mix ratio for brickwork 1:5 to 1:7
1:6 ratio of cement mortar is usually used for brickwork. In order to calculate the amount of Cement, Sand or Mortar required or brickwork firstly find out the amount of mortar required for brickwork. After adding water to the mortar mix, it bulks and reduces the volume by 33% during wet condition.
For normal house bricks, a ratio of 4 parts sand to 1 part cement can be used. For slightly softer or second-hand bricks, use a ratio of 5-1. For very soft bricks, some bricklayers will go with a very weak 6-1 mix.
    Mixing Mortar by Hand
Measure out 4 parts sand and 1 part cement, and use a shovel to mix it dry on the platform. Make a crater in the middle of the mix, and add a bucket of water and the appropriate amount of lime or mortar additive
Basically concrete is stronger and more durable so it can be used for structural projects such as setting posts whereas mortar is used as a bonding agent for bricks, stones, etc. ... Concrete has a low water-to-cement ratio and is a thinner consistency than mortar.
