Hey Ya Mum, hope this helps; the best sharpening system I have used to date is the Spyderco Sharpmaker (video coming soon). They sharpener works great for recurve blades if that is too pricey for you then any ceramic or diamond rod will work well on the THUG. The worksharp field sharpener would be one of those type that would make sharpening the THUG a breeze.
Awesome Comparison! I've been waiting forever for someone to do this side-by-side. I have had the DART for a little over a year and it chops like a friggin axe! Love it to death, but it seems to be a bit of a sleeper that not to many people know about or use. The thug seems to have quite a bit more attention, and right away I wanted to see a comparison because of how similar they are in dimension and design. Excellent work! Continue making great vids!
I have both of these knives. Bought the Buck first. If I had not purchased the Tops Dart I would not have a complaint with the Buck Thug. It's a good knife, does everything you would want of this type of knife. However, after using the Tops Dart I no longer even use the Buck. The Dart does everything that the Buck does equally well and some things better. Add to this the fact that it feels great in my hand and the forward grip is noticably better than the Buck. I think the cost i worth what you get. I dislike both sheaths and have replaced them with a high quality leather dangler.
Hey Gideon, Sorry to sound amateur, but how do I sharpen and hone my thug? I've seen some dulling on it and hardly used it. Also what about genetal maintenance. Shout out from Melbourne Australia!!!!
Arron I would love to see their new design with the full flat grind on the Thug, I really like the Thug for some reason it just grabs me more esp the sheath but hollow grinds are to thin. I'm debating between these knives and the flat grind changes things.
unofficial word is Buck has stopped producing the Ron Hood line and will be selling off their stock so I'm glad I got my Thug, don't know how much I will use it, time to start looking into Tops knives.
2 great knives! I am goin today though to pik up the sog seal pup elite or just original after seein that review u did brother! Subbed cauz it to lol. Much better and to point compared to good ol Nutnfancys review of it
+jimspinasbook Or spend $40 more and get a more ergonomic handle with no grinding or sanding, thicker spine and a few ounces more of weight to ad in chopping and a stronger Saber grind then the weaker hollow grind...but what do I know lol
+gideonstactical it's all personal preference. I own dozens of brands but the buck calls to me. I like flat grinds and Scandinavian grinds myself. Thanks again for the video.

unnecessary hump? sorry but you seem a bit bias. the buck is less money, chops awesome, and with the slightest sanding, is very comfortable.
