    I play goalie a lot and the first tip I recommend to new players learning goalie is that "You are the only one that matters". Forwards up until higher elos are highly unreliable and can't be trusted to help you out when you need it, not to mention that no matter how badly your team may be at scoring, if you aren't winning, you are usually the first to be blamed. For those reasons, follow your own pace and do what you can, bc when it comes down to it, you are the only one preventing the enemy team from winning.

      I don't understand how you block anything against half decent players. As soon as the ball gets to the crease line you can't do anything. You wait it just rolls in, you hit they ping pong and it go's in, you hit away they can still hit it and still go's in. So unfun

      @@banechrismon6051 Not only that, sometimes I'm trying to clear the ball, and my "defender" passes it to the enemy instead. Some of these types leave the goal zone less often than I do.

      @thermalsoap6618 Год назад +2

      @Darkknightx09 well this game is heavily biased towards using angles. Using your side barries can help you clear the ball, and the way the sides work provide many opportunities for you to be able to clear the ball. Also, the way you clear the ball depends on what striker you use. For example, using Kai means that you hit the ball with an ability way before it even gets close to you, whereas using Asher means that you use an ability while on top on of an opponent to be able to clear the ball

      @@darkknightx0992 best way is to hit to the left or right and find openings. It's called juggling. Not to much content for this game yet but similar thing in rocket league. Ie, forward right in front of you, throw it directly to the right side of the goal, it will bounce back to you as they chase it and you throw it a different direction.

    I always used to take strike shot but i changed to momentum boots, having speed in this game is too important to pass up since it lets you position yourself a lot faster. While strike shot is good, it's all still dependent on cooldowns whilst momentum boots will always be active and help with fundamentals

    • @aerialsnack
      @aerialsnack  Год назад +11

      That's a fair point! I could definitely see momentum boots being a better pick if you weren't able to trust in your forwards as much. Strike Shot allows you to influence the midfield more and give your forwards a little extra pressure to be able to score goals and barriers, but if they can't do that and the enemy keeps getting the core to you, then Momentum Boots will really shine.

    • @100organicfreshmemes5

      It depends on the enemy comp IMO, if they're playing an aggressive comp that will harass and try to KO you a lot Momentum Boots won't do much for you since you'll constantly be getting hit.

Aim and just use strikes, it teaches them timing and how to actually aim, and I get them to play characters that use melee only. This also covers the point you made about developing crutches, it stops them from developing those. Then I get them to learm how to use abilities afterwards, what this does is they have learned how to aim, and that makes them better at just doing everything.

I've had so many games where I only managed to protect BECAUSE of QS. In a worst case scenario where you're being double teamed by enemy forwards, pingponging is inevitable and QS can help you defend long enough to get your Special

    Can't believe you didn't mention Asher as a possible Goalie pick!
    Her Primary is extremely good to take away the ball from very aggressive Forwards and her Wall can be used very well to block of areas to keep the ball on the other side of the field. Especially when you get some range up the wall can be used to contest at very long ranges to help out your own Forwards while keeping the ball away from your own goal.
    (tbf the Asher rework that came out after the video's release buffed her Primary a lot for playing as Goalie, but it was still good before)

    The only goalie gear I'd really call bad is Pauldrons (I guess atlas can use it?). Momentum boots is great for melee goalies like asher and can give you an edge on difficult to defend maps like oni village or atlas arena. Eject button is a war crime on any goalie with a long ranged secondary because it lets you have three forwards in the enemy goal. And strike shot is of course, the go-to for any ranged goalie (and even good on melees who want a ranged hit).

Most of the characters will benefit more from other gears( like eject on kai).Also, as an advice, don’t forget you can dribble of the tiny walls in your goal. I found that I too struggle hitting the core with my regular strikes
    I'm quite good at sniping goals with quick combos on Juliette, along with players that go a little too close to the edge when camping orbs
    But the game is Omega Strikers, and I wasn't a striker, just an "Ability-er"

    I agree with almost everything you said in this video, however i cant in good faith recommend taking anything but eject button on characters like aimi and luna. The value of being able to influence midfield and then pop back in the net is too high. Also it lets you bait out an x ult and then blink away from him and keep the ball in their half before teleporting back. Sometimes its about how you shut down the enemy forwards over how you influence the ball.

    I started just recently and was blasting people with Luna, yet when I got to play her as goalie I already knew I immediately had to prioritize the goal over harrass, kills, aggression... its a reason I dont like Luna goalie as much as fwd, even if it is more suitable and workable.

    • @m42564
      @m42564 Год назад

      You might have to prioritize defending more with Luna as goalie, but with eject button you have the freedom to leave the goal to put pressure on the other side every once in a while with B.O.O.S.T., and the ability to confirm goals or KO enemy forwards or goalies can give a similar feel to being a forward. It's more that while strike shot might give you a new ability in the form of the projectile, it makes your secondary nearly useless, as using it will consistently put you out of position and highly vulnerable to getting scored on, and on the other hand, eject button lets you leave goal frequently, but if you don't use it with restraint you will find yourself out of position very often too.
      Personally speaking, being both an eject button Luna main and having played a lot of Luna forward before learning about eject button, the pacing can be very different. If you enjoy the experience of capitalizing on opportunities and sniping the core from across the field, I would recommend goalie (with eject button), but if you prefer to be in the fray all of the time, then I would suggest forward. It's really up to personal taste, but there's no other goalie quite like eject button Luna, even if eject button AI.mi or Kai can come kind of close.

    I honestly reccomend kai for lower level players looking to improve(and who isnt looking to improve that's watching this video). He's just so... basic, in the best possible way. He's just better than Dubu in every way too, his primary and secondary are practically straight upgrades to dubus exploitable tools. Odds are any trouble with kai will transfer over to every other goalie. Also, agree that strike shot is probably the best due to most goalies loving long range projectiles, but the actual shot on the strike is probably carried by all your Ai Mi play. It automatically goes off whenever you strike, so more strike based goalies will often end up wasting it. So like, one more point towards eject button, but honestly still stick with strile shot Kai until you're in a high enough elo to be baller reliably. High range barrage is really safe. Please dont pick pauldrons.

    what rank is aerial in game? i mean im guessing he is omega or whatever the top rank is since hes a youtuber and im just too fresh at this game to understand his plays but from my inexperienced eyes he comes across as far worse than the average goalie you get in gold league.
    i also disagree with his item recommendation, especially since he is playing ai.mi. eject button aimi is really strong on some maps, especially if you have a team that deals a lot of damage. your forward dashes can help secure kills or maintain pressure, keeping ball on enemy side. its really strong as that rocket lady goalie too, assuming you're good at using shift, you can also use it for rune goalie.
