    • @BrettMKW
      @BrettMKW Год назад +5

      @@axcertypo That's not right at all IMO. Once you get recognized as a GM you should have it forever. Chess GM's are still recognized even after they pass.

    • @axcertypo
      @axcertypo  Год назад +15

      @@BrettMKW the way a GM is determined in North America is already very flawed without this newfound issue. Currently, there are fewer than 700 active tournament players, which is way less than 10 years ago, despite there being a similar amount of top players. Which means that at this rate, you need to be top 6 for 5 years to get GM, which is almost impossible to achieve with at least that amount of active GMs in the mix already.

    Interesting, with a high prob bingo like INBOARD, I’m going to assume my opponent at a high level knows the hooks and probably wouldn’t have the guts to try a gambit like that. However, maybe Will’s opponent was a traditional NWL player who’d only recently made the Collins switch? If he was, and Will knew that, he might then reasonably assume they wouldn’t know the #PINBOARD hook.

    • @axcertypo
      @axcertypo  Год назад +5

      it's often the most obvious of mistakes that creates a "double blindness" effect among two top experts. The thing about that is because of the high level of play that is mutually expected, you can sometimes make plays such as this and your opponent won't think twice about it, since you would *never do something like this*.
