I always say to my circle that we take pride that India has very young population but that's not gonna stay forever. We have to utilise this potential of young people to develop our economy otherwise it will be very difficult to do so after few decades.
Governments on the other hand, don't think this way. They don't invest much money on education, job creation, etc. We are seeing the decline already in our GDP growth which is not good for the economy.
Also our Government needs to start planning on developing hospital and providing better medical aids as this younger population will soon need a lot of care and attention as they will start to get older
@@sarthak_chandra we need more young people for future too.

the thing is, japan will eventually recover. i think it’s insane when these massive media news agencies say they’re gonna go extinct. it’s crazy to say such a thing.
I mean currently Japan does have the most aged population, the government is trying to raise the fertility rate for a couple of decades but with little success. Of course they're not gonna go extinct but it's reasonable to assume that their population will go below 100 million.
@@Emi-jh7gf yeah of course but it’s very exaggerated to say there will be 0 japanese left in the next few centuries

China's demographic problems are indeed serious and will further hinder economic development in the future. However, just because India has a large population does not mean that it is hopeful either. It is the quality of population and industrialization that are fundamental to the country's rise.
Also India is pretty similar to China regarding “missing” girls….estimated at 40 million in China, 46 missing girls/more boys in India. And pretty sure China didn’t really think that population trends like that could be an issue, until they were.
I have seen some people who think we beating China is a great thing and our gigantic population is an asset. It's not!!! Huge population means huge pressure on limited resources and big pressure on gov to meet them.... That's leads to very uneven distribution of development...like Bihar and UP stay behind while Western and southern states improve....... We need to get our population under control
problem is not the population in UP and Bihar, the problem is corrupt politicians who have looted those two states for decades
Unfortunate for India that majority of its population is trapped in land locked states like UP and Bihar , unlike china

The great PRC economic takeoff was 1990 to 2010 where the average age went from 27.7 to 35.0. For India that is 2008 to 2038. So 13 out of the 30 years to India's big economic takeoff opportunity from a demographic point of view has already passed. The result has been mixed, especially the last 5 years. India has to really take advantage of the last 15 years of favorable demographic trends to build a mass industrial base.
Government is doing all the possible ways to create jobs like industrial corridors,Sagarmala port upgradation and coastal economic zones creation,Bhartmala highways construction, Electronic manufacturing clusters, Dedicated freight corridors and so on
But the problem is that we the people don't have awareness about this opportunity
So please spread awareness about demographic dividend

As a nation we are almost on the right track in the population pyramid aspect.
Taking any drastic, and sudden decision such as adoption of the 1 child policy will only skew the population pyramid and be detrimental in the long run , as it in all likelihood will down the line cause unpredictable as well as hard to manage ripple effect.
With that said our population surely needs to be controlled and bought down, population control measures and awareness needs to be spread in the so called hindi belt(with up, bihar being the main culprits, it's acceptable that they have huge population it's not that they keep growing up at that pace, high birth rate and fertility rate is what being pointed out to)
The solution or rather contraceptive is not condoms or pills put economic prosperity and urbanization with addition of exposure and sex education
Something else that immediately needs to be addressed is female to male ratio
Figures will show it to be somewhere around 925 but that of kid's aged 0-16 is something near the mark of 890
nikhil tirpude Dude you are the only Indian in comment sections that knows the truth. It’s not artificial contraceptives that bring population down. It’s economic prosperity and for that India needs to invest in better education.

People ranting over Ethiopia vs Japan part- It is important that your people have earned well and have sufficient pension or social welfare schemes ( hospitals, care nurses). Since, Japan has achieved this thing, it would be a happy old country. And it is almost conclusive that birth rate will not start declining till people have good health and education ( Human resource capital formation). So Ethiopia will keep on having similar pyramid till they have good social sector. Countries like Korea, Japan, Thailand have developed because their govts spent a lot of money of education and health. SO, if you want to see India developed in your life time, vote for party which contest elections on issues of Schools, colleges and Hospitals. A generation consists of 20-25 years and India needs to spend heavily on social sector for continuous 20 years. Private schools, dependency on private cars is a sign of things going wrong.
P.S.- I am not going to even have a single child because i have better things to do in life than raising a kid in era of climate change. Doubtful even for marriage, thanks to Acharya Prashant , Bhagwat Geeta and Upnishads.

Things can't change until society promote independency
India needs to follow the same formula what china , south Korea , Taiwan , veitnam did
The problem is young people are clutched in the hands of their parents specially women.
They treat their young kids under their control
Things need to be separated
People should help elderly when they are need but don't involve unecessarily
Support independency specially to 50% passive citizens
They can't involve in workforce untill they are in the clutches of in laws
Yea u could migrate to other good countries where educated people really are forward thinkers unlike most indians who think struggle is just life
Why to struggle when we could bring change
An ordinary women in India think she is reserved to her in laws ,kids and husband
She has to fully pay them even if they opress her fully
An ordunary man in India , I have just think about getting a wife which could be done easier through secure govt job
An ordinary son , I just want to be a pet of my parents and not let my sister to take major roles on behalf of parents side
An ordinary daughter , I have to get a good degree so that I could marry a good , rich man and then my life would be set
Could u live in this country where are more backward than Africans .
Even Iran , Iraq , Indonesia , Qatar , Kazakhstan are better countries even if majority of people there are Muslims
I won't blame religion as even Hindus in srilanka , Bali are way better and forward thinkers than most indians
It's something in indian people
They would feel for past while failing in present
They are so restrictive of change even when change could be proven good
That's why rational , talented people want to leave India
For that a person need education from good University .
Hope even I would fetch some good institute in future

These graphs could easily be India’s future, 40-50 years from now. If more manufacturing moves from China to India, more in rural villages will flock to factory cities for the pay of those jobs, and seek more education for themselves and their kids to get those jobs.
Just those 3 factors alone (moving from rural to city, more money, more education) can cut the number of kids per family dramatically, from large families to 1-2 kid within a generation or two….and has happened in many countries before.
Add in the “missing girl” issue, which is pretty similar between India and China, if not higher in India.
Really nice visualizations as always. :-)
Pakistan vs Bangladesh or France vs Germany
Wow
congratulations first
The worrying part for india around 2050-2060 when population would have stabilized is, there isn’t much difference with China on average age of population but our productivity will remain far lower.
The most rational and realistic observation so far. On a workforce basis, deployed and undeployed workforce needs to be considered. And then productivity of per deployed person. If population continues to grow but unemployment and underemployment exist greatly, any addition to population above natural replacement rate will further cause stress on the society and economy.
Food security will be an issue too. China indeed has a problem with aging population, but with great efficiency in productivity in current workforce may mitigate a significant amount of the stress. And once the aging group passes on, they probably will have a strong and efficient economy, and leaner population, leading to an even higher standard of living and into a good cycle.

In India, Kerala and Tamil Nadu has the most elder population with around 30 and 29 of median age respectively while Bihar has the youngest population😑😑
West Bengal too has elder population....
Bihar will face a serious Unemployment and poverty problem soon. Very soon.....
nice presentation, but I don't agree with the message the younger population has a BETTER QUALITY! Exactly the opposite is the case, the older population testifies to the longevity, less consumption so environmentally friendly. So I prefer China🇨🇳
Ethiopia and Japan comparison doesn't make sense to me. Higher young population will also have demand for education and healthcare similar to Japan's elderly population pension and health care requirements.
How their future shape up depends on the quality of current workforce and what reforms and policies their government implement in present considering the current population balance (or so called imbalance).
India and China always had high population compared to other developed countries. It is what both countries have done in the recent past resulted in booming economy. (Also as per the video China had a imbalance starting from 1970 but the economy doesn't seem to have any negative impact, rather it starts booming)
Population will have an impact on environment and resource depletion. We don't population control by natural disaster (global warming or disease outbreak) or people killing each other for a piece of bread.
All countries should focus on population control and improving quality of life.
Never be proud of high population is my message to all watching this video.
Currently are facing tough competition in population of 1.3 billion people imagine about 1.6 billion people at the end of century that too most of them will be old .
Limited resources and aging population will create huge impact on our economy that's why population control bill is needed to restrict the birth rate to 2 per family to maintain a stable population
