"We'll see how it goes." Reminds me of craftsman who worked at a railway museum in North Yorkshire who, when asked what was his deadline for a project, replied, "Deadline? I've never had one of those before."
That'll be neat to see Dolgoch back in bronze green. Will Talyllyn also be repainted or will she remain Indian red? Also, name suggestion for the battery locomotive: Bryn Eglwys II; I suggest that because the Quarry was such an integral part of the Railway's history and survival, and I was surprised when the diesel bearing the name was sold off back in 2014...
Have you ever Raced The Train before? I was thinking about doing it next year, so I wanted to know if you have any thoughts or experience on the matter.
I love Dolgoch as she is in Indian Red, but it will be really nice to see her in TR green! She looks beautiful in TR green in the old photos from the 80’s. I have a soft spot for number 2 tbh haha
Sounds interesting! The last time i was on the railway was when I stayed, as a 10 year old kid in 1974, with Mr. & Mrs. Jones guest house / farm right by Dolgoch Falls. The slate quarries and narrow gauge railways still had one foot in their working roots & a tentative step towards the heritage movement. I'd love to come back & revisit Tal-y-llyn Lake, Blaenau Ffestiniog and the slate mines, Dolgoch Falls, Abergynolwyn, Tywyn... and that's off the top of my head! So you can see the impression the place had on a ten year old from Paignton!
I can't wait to visit here in July. I just booked tickets for the Awdry extravaganza. Unfortunately alot of things are booked out but being there is enough for me
Interesting Ifor Williams trailers… just returned from the Falkland Islands and saw one or two of their trailers down there. He gets everywhere.. haha.. another point of interest, I found a load of 2 foot gauge coal tipper trucks half buried in the peat down at the tip at Eliza Cove. They had a short railway installed around 1915 which stayed in use until around 1925. Probably the most Southerly Steam railway in the world. Sadly the Falkland islanders don’t have the enthusiasm to restore anything. So many amazing historical elements from an Iron sailing ship to a satellite tracking station to WW11 Bren Carriers all rusting away … very sad.
Cracking work happening at talyllyn railway right now well done everyone 👍 but yes as it is now recorded about the crate of beer the boss has to stick to his word now if the coach is done in time 😂😂
When you complete the third rail, as part of the 1st April update, make sure it doesn't interfere with the pulse clock. I have some nails I can send you to wall mount the clock if you need them
It would have to have been made to modern standards, but yes the boiler was built as close to the original design as possible - thankfully drawings of that original boiler still exist.

That's mean Smudger will be visiting the Talyllyn Railway.
I think the bronze green is my favorite color for the Talyllyn engines.
I cannot wait to see Dolgoch back into working order for the Summer season, especially for Race the Train in August.

I love Dolgoch, Sir Haydn, Edward Thomas and Douglas as portrayed as the Skarloey Railway engines for the special events.

How's the new battery loco coming along? Have you decided on a name yet?

You are aware the third rail was a joke right?
@@pansparrow You know he was playing along with the joke right?
Rheneas: I wonder how my brother is doing right now
Smudger : HEY WHAT ABOUT ME?! :(
That boiler the Severn did... I seem to recall reading it was to the original Fletcher, Jennnings & co. design from the 1860s. Is that correct?

Will Dolgoch and Talyllyn both be back in steam by the awdry extravaganza I’m really looking forward to it
Maybe if they get new faces so they won't had to use the old ones.
God i wish I could do this stuff
When are Tallyln and Dolgoch estimated to return to service?
9:50 Are those Talyllyn's wheels or are they Dolgoch's wheels or are some other loco's wheels?
As said in the video, they are Dolgoch's wheels.
@@TalyllynRailway1865 Ok :D
