Lithuanian here! Luktelk does have a direct translation, it means "hold up" or "wait a little bit". In the song he's asking his partner to just wait for him, because he'll "love them tomorrow".

Lithuania is sending very strong acts for last 5 years. Love The ROOP. Luktelk is my favorite so far this year. But artists I usually like tend to end up last 🤷♀️
I can concede it might not win but i stand firmly on the side of "this has mass appeal, it will do well". On the Luke Black comparison, that entry suffered a lot from a weak vocal and a not strong hook - i dont think theyre totally comparable
Luktelk is better than Luke black but less memorable. I’d be surprised if it finished higher than Luke black, it’s so forgettable. Sorry ,I’m not hating, just stating the obvious
Not to mention Luke Black's song was pretty contemporary and 'out there', which doesn't usually fare well with the older audiences, but is right up the younger internet Eurovision follower alley. Silvester's song is much more palatable and easy to consume. If anything, I think the televote is going to be one that will lift him up in the final (esp with the diaspora heyyyy), the juries is what I'm more worried about. And the comparison between Austria 2023 is also not the best, I felt their stage presence and the staging itself was rather underwhelming. Their vocals were not the best either, while Silvester's stays uniform throughout the performance, even with the dancing.
@@rds7516People keep comparing it to those songs, I can see why, but it's really not what's going to happen imo. This to me has more of a Kaarija vibe, something that will do really well with the televote because it's so memorable and easy to sing along.
Love the commentary. As someone from the US who isn't as familiar with Eurovision as everyone else in the world, I appreciate the videos and I'm definitely getting into it now! Thanks for widening my world-view 💜
the comparison with Luke Black seems a bit forced. there's little that unites the two- as others have said this is more approachable and better performed. I agree with your point overall that esc fans are being quite delusional this year and several fan faves will not do as well as thought, and I would also be surprised if this won, but I don't think there's any cause to already say it can't get top 10.
Love what you said about how it can be your favorite and not win is so important. So many people don't seem to understand how these are two separate questions. But its easier to consider when Doomsday Blue is my favorite lol
As an outsider from the US, I’ve only gotten into the fandom last year. I will say I LOVED Luke’s performance last year but his vocals were weaker and I think this year Luktelk will have more appeal to a wider audience. That being said, I still don’t think it will be top 10, but certainly not bottom 5. I just hope it will make the left side of the board

I couldn't be prouder of my country's entry this year and I do really hope we can maybe top our best result this year. It's been so nice seeing all the praise from different countries and having even some conversations about possibly winning is awesome to hear as a Lithuanian myself but I don't think that will happen and that's ok. I don't really think our song is a eurovision winning type of song anyways
I adore this song, it’s my favourite this year, but I am also a little worried about the fandom potentially overhyping it and then becoming argumentative if it doesn’t score high. I think something the fanbase needs to remember is that you are allowed to like the songs that don’t score high! I think inevitably some of the popular songs this year are going to be left behind in the vote because so many of them are great.
I love Luktelk, but I do see what you guys are saying. I also see some people say the song is repetitive. And it kinda is, but I think it might work in its favor. It might help the song get stuck in people’s heads. I do think Silvester needs a music video and radio play outside of Lithuania to build hype and capture people’s attention before Eurovision to get it to top 10.
Agree on it not being winning material (despite it being my favorite so far), but hard disagree on it being bottom 5. About the Luke Black comparison, I sorta see why that is (aesthetic-wise), but they're still very distinct. Luke's entry was a lot more conceptual and experimental, Silvester's is way more immediate and accesible. It would have a lot more appeal to jurors and audiences. Would it bring Lithuania's best result? Probably not. But it definitely won't flop hard.

I love this song but even I'm not that delusional when it comes to where it will most likely place after all the songs come in. While I think it's accessible and super catchy, it'll probably be more of a mid table result. Definitely not a winning song, though I also don't see this bottoming because there's already some bland and boring songs in the mix. This year is already shaping up to be a relatively strong year and I think the community tends to overhype a song when a song they like gets chosen by a country, and temporarily forgets what other songs are in the mix that it's competing against. Still, great choice for Lithuania, definitely a bop, a song with lasting power and in a category we have yet to fill in imo, so they definitely can be proud of what they're sending.
Didn't hear this until after he'd won but I can see why people were hyping it. It's jumped straight to the top of my ranking. Nova is right, it's a gay song. You make a good point about 'winning' songs, I don't even think of that in my rankings, just what I personally enjoy.
It probably has even stronger appeal to those, who can understand the lyrics.. appertaining it’s very poetic and romantic. I mean I (Nova) love the song 😂 And it's absolutely comparable to Luke Black in that it's a young twinky artist with darker visuals and a sort of electronic sound that's very popular in the fandom. Obviously the songs are different but we can still compare different songs that's the whole point of comparison 😅 Honestly idk where it's gonna place in Malmö we just think people need to temper their expectations 😂💕

Comparing Luktelk with Luce Black and whatever that song was IS SO BEYOND OUTRAGEOUS. And so far currently there are only like 3 songs worth of being top 5. Though I agree, what the little fandom thinks and what hundreds million people think is way different!
I agree with your points entirely, whilst this is one of my favourites (and so was luke) people are just a bit delulu when it comes to their faves, I mean Echo was my favourite last year but I didnt expect it to make the top 15 (if it qualified). The only point I dont agree with is the possibility of this coming bottom 5, I think Lithuania's diaspora is so strong, especially if we compare it to 2023 where Solo and Stay both got alot of 10's and 12's. Great reactions as always dols x 😍😍😍
You don’t know who will win every year people comment that nothing will do what Lithuania send and it always do ok so this song will defo be in top 10 because he is different
Yes aint nobody gonna be looking up the lyrics but also the majority of viewers dont speak fluent english and barely have any idea what the songs are about so this being in lithuanian makes no difference, only gets bonus points for being sung in NATIVE (not FOREIGN) language
I'm firmly on the Luktelk hype train, and I do believe that with good press, it could score high, as it seem that queer artists don't get a lot of visibility from Lithuania, and "This Time" from 2015, to me, still seem like a fandom darling. So the state of Monika Liugend could try to pull a "we're not homophobic you guys!" win, in the vein of Lena, Conchita and Maneskin. But as you said, Dizzy will be the twink mirror, Zorra will be the queer mirror, La Noia will be the "change" mirror, and we'll see what will come as well... So I'm sure Lithuanian Troye Sivan will qualify, but in the Finale, he can end up everywhere :D
Just shy of the top 10 for me, I don’t mind it whilst listening, but I just find myself listening or thinking of the 12 songs that I’ve put above it more. I can definitely see this qualifying but if it does make it, i then see it ending up middle of the pack, with running order potentially having an impact.
Without being a crazy fan of this package and entry, (i just enjoy it but I'm never coming back to it and i was just happy that The Roop didn't win lol) i disagree with y'all in the way that i think that this can transcend the contest and become a hit... Sure, it has the language barrier but who cares at this point. To me it feels more rave-y and current than the comparisons you guys did... And i see this winning the televote and possibly the whole Contest 👀
My pet peeve with Eurovision staging in recent years is when the peformer has their face plastered across the background screen as a motif. I think it really cheapens the performance. Could they not come up with something that actually represents the themes of the song or their country? Case in point, compare this to Gåte's display with features from the majestic Norwegian landscape. No one's mug is that interesting.
In this case it works for me because it conveys different moods and energies. The LED content actually helps me connect to him when the lights on stage are almost pitch-dark (which they need to be). This isn't Claudia Faniello showing off her gigantic boobs kind of accidentally. Silvester and his team made some conscious, informed choices. I understand if it's not for you. It works very well for me.
I've no doubt that it was a conscious and informed choice, I just don't think it's a particularly interesting, clever or creative one. The face shot in the LED display is more about selling the artist than it is about selling their ideas.
@@ohlord7043Any performance at Eurovision is about "selling" the artist. They want you to pick up the phone for them, unless they're German. Silvester arguably toned down the "selling" aspect for himself on stage and shifted it towards the LED content instead.
I like it because it's uptempo and at the moment there are very few dance tracks that have been released. Bear in mind we only have 20 songs at the moment and looking a them there are some that follow the same rhythmic beat. I think it will be Top 10 because when you break the evening down you can bet we'll have some ballads to come and this will break the monotony if it follows a few slow songs in the running. It's very much a personal taste thing. My #1 right now is Luxembourg
I have instantly fallen in love with this song and I listen to it everyday. I feel kind of sad because I thought, if this same track came from Sweden , of course with English lyrics, like the Sweds always do, it would be expected to finish top5 for sure. But now, coming from Lithuania we all think, it will steuggle to finish top10
This one really reminds me of Switzerland 2019 and that shocked me by coming 4th. I’m a fan of this so really hoping it can perform well too, and get the televote support it needs. You never know!
Everything is Top 5 material these days if you look at social media comments. Except Germany of course. I love how catchy this song is, but it needs more than 90's basic dance music samples to stand out.
i don't think your point about a song requiring prior knowledge to understand and appreciate fully meaning that it has failed holds. Look at Serbia in 2022
Olly finally got some competition in the twink category this year! I actually think this song will have SO much more mass appeal, Luke Black had a song no one in their right mind would put on the radio and this one is a big radio hit in Lithuania with almost 1 million plays on Spotify already. My mum hated Serbia last year but downloaded Luktelk bc it's pleasing to listen to in the car. I don't think this is a great comparison tbh, while I also agree it's unlikely to be top 5 and will only be able to squeeze into top 10 with some effort.
This song is repetitive and bland, making it easily accessible. Meaning more people will like it, but not LOVE it. Luke black was similar but with much more interest and originality which was always going to make it a sink or swim moment.
I was actually really impressed watching Lithuania's national final, they seemed to have consistently good quality songs all throughout the leaderboard. Maybe it's because the fandom gaslit me into thinking Luktelk was the only good song there, or because all the other national finals were awful that Saturday, but 'Gaudė vėjai' was a great ethnic entry, 'Be Careful' had immaculate vibes & while 'Kaboom!' had a garishness I normally don't gravitate towards, it had really good musicality to it I could vibe with. I can't really say I disliked any of the 10 songs in the final. Luktelk definitely deserved that though.
I think Luke Black has the better song (it was my number 1 last year) but Silvester Belt's song is more accessible, so I think Luktelk is going to do better come May. Top 10 is a possibility but top 5 is a reach and winning is almost impossible though.
I am that person but I'm not delusional enough to say that my faves are gonna win when realistically they're just not going to, it's enough for me that they get recognized for their music and that they grow as an artist with further success by letting those who like their music find them. I'm more concerned about having a good time and looking for artists who enjoy what they do and you can see really love their own music and is having fun on stage.
I do like this. I think this might just barely scrape it's way into the Top 10. I have it at 9th on my scoreboard app. I think it's a good song and I would be more than happy if it was played on a night out.
I was really happy that this was chosen as this was the only song I felt confident about this year. Not sure how it will do in Eurovision, but I do like it as it's catchy and well produced. The thing with our national selections is that we usually have about a good chunk of bad songs that have a very dated sound, some strange 'comedy numbers' or we have just complete snoozefests, so there's about 3 clear front-runners that we have to pick from lol. (I'm just glad we didn't send off KABOOM) Either way, will definitely root for a twink any time, so let's get this to top 10 💙
Thank YOU for calling out the winner delusions. It’s so giving major luke black vibes, except this one has a much stronger hook. I don’t even love the song and I woke up with it playing in my head. Diaspora is probably pulling it out of the bottom 5 for me but this is for sure right hand side at the moment

I’ll agree with Lymp and say that I’m not in love with the song itself. Although I think the staging and styling are absolutely perfect. I can see this maybe making left side of the board but can’t see really it cracking the top ten…at least probably not.
those comments may be from very young fans, kids always goes crazy. It depends on how he will perform in Eurovision. I hope he will be very confident and relaxed on stage. I liked Luck's black song, but his singing in super-final wasn't the best, in semi-final was a bit better. But I just want to enjoy all show and less politics...

IMO this song is about a heartbreak, he wants his lover to stay a little longer and without him/her the days grow longer
You are quite right to correct us on saying "foreign" language as opposed to "native" - apologies!
@@Novympia love the reaction. Specificaly Olympia being scared to to not have this song as their top 5 hahahaha. Speak your truth!
Superrrr….. song❤❤❤
so funny intro :D P.S. Rave is back!
Poland dropped their entry song not long ago ... Give us your opinion darlings...
Love and kisses ❤
Your number 1 is Luxembourg? Hah!

This reminds you of Jon’s tears???!! How is it remotely similar?

Everything is Top 5 material these days if you look at social media comments. Except Germany of course. I love how catchy this song is, but it needs more than 90's basic dance music samples to stand out.
I think you're quite wrong about the placement on the scoreboard, but we'll see
omg i didnt realize Olly was going to rep UK thats awesome. I love Years and Years
Strongly disagree, this will be in the top 5.
i don't think your point about a song requiring prior knowledge to understand and appreciate fully meaning that it has failed holds. Look at Serbia in 2022
It can definitely be top 10 though
I love this, my third place after Ukraine and France
The backing dancers for Kane is sending me
I love LT selections second place (Shower - Impossible). I would like to see your reaction to that one 😊
Nonsense! This is my number 1 and should win Eurovision! :D

Wow, I thought it was the worse group of songs I’ve ever heard 🙉🤣
You obviously didn’t watch Sanremo
@@goonerbean4680 lol, and you clearly didn't watch Germany, Denmark, or Moldova; those NFs had 90% flops
@@smileyd5008 they did. I agree but Lithuania had more
yeah it's a euro bop.
I think Luke Black has the better song (it was my number 1 last year) but Silvester Belt's song is more accessible, so I think Luktelk is going to do better come May. Top 10 is a possibility but top 5 is a reach and winning is almost impossible though.
the Winner!!!❤❤❤
Totally agree with the fandom echo chamber - that’s why I only listen to comments on the fandom filtered through yer girls!
I think it's a good song and I would be more than happy if it was played on a night out.
i am suprised that they know Monika Liu :O
I was really happy that this was chosen as this was the only song I felt confident about this year. Not sure how it will do in Eurovision, but I do like it as it's catchy and well produced.
The thing with our national selections is that we usually have about a good chunk of bad songs that have a very dated sound, some strange 'comedy numbers' or we have just complete snoozefests, so there's about 3 clear front-runners that we have to pick from lol. (I'm just glad we didn't send off KABOOM)
Either way, will definitely root for a twink any time, so let's get this to top 10 💙
The only lyrics that I cared to translate was zorra :D and it was totally worth it
Thank YOU for calling out the winner delusions. It’s so giving major luke black vibes, except this one has a much stronger hook. I don’t even love the song and I woke up with it playing in my head. Diaspora is probably pulling it out of the bottom 5 for me but this is for sure right hand side at the moment
it's nothing like Luke Black
I love this song. I love jou
I see this being really enjoyable in the club, and maybe a great experience live too. It gives me like, a moodier version of Rush by Troye Sivan.
Kane! HA!
I'm gonna second something someone else has said on a previous video, and that's my appreciation for Nova's opinions on the music and song breakdowns. Very cool and interesting.
💜 Olympia's honesty hehe.
Twas not a fan of this tune.
I really hope that the yk goes before this as he looks very similar to oli Alexander
you dont get it... You can interpretate that in so many diferent ways, it can be talk in romantic way, it can be an iternal conversation.. wait a bit(hold on for a moment) I ll dance and deal with the shit tomrw. I dont want to but I have to. (life LOL))
I'm not a kid and this song is far better than most of the songs this year.
Labia?!
Miss Monika ❤
Interesting fact, Monika Liu had a song with Jerry Heil and alyona alyona who represent Ukraine this year
