Mirio and Deku's different approaches to the whole Eri/Overhaul situation is SO nerve-wracking because *neither of them are wrong* . There are merits and drawbacks to either course of action, and that, imo, is what makes it so REAL.
Definitely. It took me a while to wrap my mind around it. At the time of this video I think I sided more heavily with Deku. But as time goes on I think the problem was that they just didn't know and so there was no right course of action for them except to do the best with what they had, which they did.
7:20 fun fact: in the manga, midnight was sitting like that because she said "I haven't appeared in any of the chapters lately" or something along those lines. She wanted to look good for the readers 😂

"Just out of the blue" if Eri coming across Izuku and Mirio seems random, at least remember that they are intentionally patrolling Overhaul's territory, so that's at least a little better Worth pointing out at least one limitation to Foresight that I can't recall if it was mentioned last episode: he can only use it once per day. 10:37 I like that you caught the music cue there. It's very clever. I agree about the flawed idea everyone in-universe seems to have about how there has to be "another All Might." And it makes sense - All Might has been on guard for 35 years. The world has forgotten what it's like not to rely on him. It's interesting, too, that Nighteye calls All Might's foreseen death "unspeakably gruesome." I don't know about you, but that _immediately_ makes me think of Shigaraki's quirk, which would make sense, since no one wants to kill All Might more. Though what's weird is how the prophecy is that he'll "face off" against a villain. Which is perplexing, since All Might can't really do combat anymore.
This episode really made me empathize with Nighteye. His hero, his partner had just suffered a life-altering injury and was still refusing to retire. At what point does self-sacrifice just become reckless and suicidal? In Nighteye's eyes, it's completely foolish for All Might to keep fighting. It would've been better for the world if All Might stepped down voluntarily rather than be "gruesomely murdered". But of course, maybe Nighteye's future won't come to pass.
Every time Alex tell us something that happened in his life, I just get more and more confused. Just how many things has this man done? Is he like, 60 years old? Member of the secret society of immortals? Will we ever know everything he's done???????
I LOVE the reaction videos when you literally just argue with the show!! It's soo fun to listen to. Most reactors don't really pause the episode and miss stuff while you just dissect it and it's awesome
My favorite part about this episode is that it's the first time (in my opinion) that they speak to each other as equals. Deku speaks to him with respect instead of reverence, and Allmight treats Deku as a friend and not a student or naive hero in training.
Lemillion is an awesome part of this season. I think he basically serves as a young Might almost for us, with him being incredibly strong and showing crazy potential, but doesn't yet have the feel of some untouchable god-like figure like s1 All Might, who Deku could only ever look at in awe. Instead, Mirio feels like someone like All Might who Deku could actually look to for steps to improve himself, rather than someone who had it all figured out.
I've thought this a lot during your my hero reactions, but it's crazy how much of the author's intent that you pick up on. I can't tell whether I should be impressed by Kohei Horikoshi's writing skills for developing such a rounded world/characters, or by you for picking up on some of the problems and providing great solutions to them.
You didn't include it in this reaction but when All Might mentions how he thought the All For One fight was "...the end of the race." really hit me. It makes his resolve to win even more impressive and amazing, and even moreso Deku a player in that moment. All Might went into that fight ready to die, it wasn't just a possibility that he could deny and push back, he really thought "Well yep I knew this was coming". And even given that he still gave it every last bit that he had, what a guy. "But... you were there, kiddo." :' )
I didn't think enough about the significance of that at the time (though I may have talked about in upcoming videos, can't remember) but yeah the more I think about it the more incredible that becomes. It was ALREADY impressive that he pulled out that victory but to do so while EXPECTING to be defeated is incredible even for All Might.
i always love your real-time analysis in these reactions, i didn't think i would ever find a reaction channel whose content somehow felt unique, but i found it here. i've been bingeing your reactions to other shows that i've watched too!
Nighteye makes good points. Dude is teaching deku to think, plan, and execute. Deku could've stolen eri from overhaul but his quirk could be dangerous and if he fails, overhaul would have kept himself hidden
I honestly think there is a plan that would have worked in that situation. Deku is faster than overhaul so he could run away with eri to find some other heroes to help them. Mirio is later shown to be able to take chisaki on his own pretty easily and we see that mirio is also at least slightly faster than overhaul so as long as mirio fought with permeation he should be able to both fight overhaul without worrying about himself and use his faster speed to prevent overhaul from causing any collateral damage. And as I said, mirio is at least slightly faster so chisaki probably wouldn't be able to run away. After fighting overhaul for a little while, the heroes deku went to get show up and help and since overhaul is alone and has no one to mix himself with, they would most likely destroy him and he'd be in prison and eri would be safe and no one would get hurt besides those who are fighting.
The conversation between Deku and All Might is brutal. Deku is feeling inadequate and inferior and he is lost and scared. Finding out that your Mentor/Father figure is going to die before you can say "I am here." But when All Might reveals that he thought that his fight with All For One was where he was going to die; and that it was Deku that inspired him to choose to live via "United States of Smash!" (favorite attack name 😀). Gets me everytime right in the feels.
I'm glad you're one of the very few reactors who actually picked one some of the most central themes of the series regarding living up to expectations, being the only symbol that everyone relies on or entrust it to others to carry on the will with their own unique approaches. But have you noticed that mirio and overhaul are basically the better and more experienced versions of deku and shigaraki as their foils respectively? Intentionally too
These analytical videos talking about everything honestly make me want to watch your reactions from episode 1, you honestly catch stuff I didn't pick up on even though I've seen the show many times xD
This episode is son interesting because it’s a real challenging situation. On one hand there is a professionalism to not jumping into the situation because you don’t know what will happen as Overhaul is not a villain to scoff at. On the other you have a clear situation, a little girl hurt and begging for help, of course that’d be enough motivation for Deku to just jump in. But the situation is so complex, it’s really something.
Bruh you don't have to keep predicting the latest manga chapters that won't show up in the show for another 5 years 😂😂😂 but jokes aside, I'm glad you're putting as much thought into this show as creator Horikoshi is.
This is one of my favorite episodes in s4, I love how scene with all might and deku parrales episode 2 of season 1 when all might tells deku that he can be a hero.
"One size too small T-shirt Girl." That's good. But fun fact her name is Bubble Girl and she was a fan drawing that was submitted to Kohei Horikoshi (creator of My Hero Academia). Centipede was also a fan submission and Horikoshi like them so much that both were added to the story and they're Night Eye's sidekicks.

Umm I forgot to mention this in the last few episodes, the english voice actors for Sir Nighteye and Tenya Iida are married irl. (Gotta edit this in, Guys please dont make any weird fanfics from this ;-;)
All Might and Nighteye did not want to create a new All Might, they were looking for a new symbol, someone who by his appearance can make a smile, clam of those in need. That's why they chose Mirio for his positive character, not for his original power (when Mirio was chosen it was just a shadow of how strong he is now)
Out of curiosity, how do you decide when to pick up a new show/what shows to pick up? I ask because I've really enjoyed your deep analysis of the characters in MHA, and it got me thinking that you would enjoy Haikyuu and make some really interesting content around it.
I'm the sort of person that just naturally loses motivation over time. The Erwin speech might lead to one big decision but constant support from Uncle Iroh would be more effective for my life overall.
I'm still under the thinking that nighteye's prediction about all might was already changed. The all for one battle was within the given time span, and all might said he would survive that battle for deku whether than just the basis of being the hero. Deku had already changed all might's fate like he said he would in this episode.
11:49 Yeah but that's not the only thing All Might said in that moment - and I think you talked over his first line in your reaction. When Bakugo asked why he chose Deku, All Might said, "He was powerless but still more heroic than anyone else." THEN he went on to say that he knew Bakugo was powerful and that he wanted to give Deku a chance in the ring. But he did acknowledge what truly drew his attention to Deku - his spirit and courage despite the odds. He just didn't go into detail, I don't know if going into detail and praising Deku would have been the smart choice in that moment. Bakugo got it - he's a smart boy. He knows exactly what All Might meant - Bakugo observed the same thing himself as they were growing up. Times Deku defended other children, even going against Bakugo himself. Or the time Bakugo fell and Deku rushed to him, not really caring about his own safety. Bakugo has, I think, at some level always understood that Deku has something he doesn't - its probably a large part of Bakugo's insecurity. And why he has always had such animosity for him. He couldn't reconcile a normally meek, powerless boy trying to help him or having the courage to stand up for someone else. But he's waking up now. Its not going to be an overnight change but he's a good boy at heart and I believe he'll come out the other side of this much stronger for it, as a person and a baby hero.
There's actually a bunch of reasons why All Might ultimately decided to give OFA to Deku, but I think the most relevant one wasn't actually as sentimental as one would expect. Let's just say that All Might was reluctant to give OFA to anyone at that point. It's actually kinda sad, lol. Probably the reason he was holding on to the Symbol thing for so long.
@@erikteutloff2183 You might actually be right. I thought he may had been suspicious about it for quite some time. He just wasn't completely sure since he didn't have the right info. It's been a minute since I read those chapters so I'm not sure 100%.
The thing is, it kinda DOES need to be an almight replacement. Crime decreased DRAMATICALLY when almight became the symbol of peace. No one else has been able to come even close to as strong or impactful as him. It is pretty stupid for him to give the power to a random kid after seeing his character shortly and training him for like a month or so. At the very least, he could’ve taken a bit more time to look at other options (which was the whole point of him teaching at UA). Not even considering looking at the top students of UA before doing this was honestly just irresponsible since this is essentially the strongest power in the world. Whoever inherits the power doesn’t have the option to be mediocre. They HAVE to be the best.
I think there's room for alternatives. Whether or not Deku is THE ABSOLUTE BEST CHOICE, he's definitely a great one and will do amazing things with the power. And so will Mirio even without One for All. And the quicker they sort out what they each can do and sync up with each other the better it is for the world.
@@AGoodwinTV very true. I just think taking a chance on a kid with 0 skill, 0 experience, and 0 previous feats other than running aimlessly into danger to save a friend is a tad too big of a leap of faith when compared to someone like mirio, who essentially exhibits all of the same qualities and then some. I think your argument would be perfect if Almight thought the same way, but he was thinking “I need to find a successor to the symbol of peace” rather than thinking this kid would be a great addition to the hero force as a whole. Remember, almight is who invented the concept of a hero of peace, so his intention was initially to find his own replacement. That’s at least the context with which I think his choice, given his own logic, was kinda dumb. But as the season goes on you’ll see Mirio doesn’t need OFA anyway since he’s so great :)
@@Scoundr3ll honestly, considering what we eventually learn about OfA, I could see the quirk itself lowkey influencing All Might’s decision. Not exactly a spoiler since it’s already been implied/hinted that OfA is haunted.
By the current manga issues we know more about One for All and pretty much only Deku or someone like Deku could have gotten it. Spoilers ….. ….. ….. ….. One for All keeps growing with every pass. It’s stronger for Deku than All Might to the point that Deku can use the quirks of every prior user - something All Might couldn’t do. AND Deku learns that every OFA holder who had a quirk had their bodies prematurely age and burn out, dying by 40. The only person to have OFA and live past 40 is All Might, and that’s because he was Quirkless. He was an empty vessel perfect for holding all that power. Same with Deku. OFA is so strong now, in Deku’s generation, that it is impossible for a powered person to get it. The vestiges of prior users flat out refer to Deku as the last user of OFA
Spoiler I think it is funny how he say shiggy now has a conviction and no longer just wants to see the world burn when his conviction pretty much boils down to wanting to burn the world down. He may make some exceptions but his greatest desire is in fact to destroy everything especially hero society.
while mirio approach is not wrong, it is not the approach of a hero this is why i think izuku is a more worthy choice. As a hero it should not matter if its going against the investigation what matter is saving people
not related to mha but would you read one piece? a one piece volume reaction of sort. I think you would love this story. ch 1 alone is phenomenal to get a taste of it and it just gets better turning into a really complex emotional character rich adventure fantasy epic.
I believe that Mirio would have been a beter chosen one than deku. Deku wants to be a hero but Mirio wants to save people, seems like the same but there is a difference
*Spoiler* It's sad that the autor took Mirio out of the picture by taking away his powers because he realized that Mirio is a better protagonist and hero than Deku. After all the idea of Deku was that someone powerless could become a hero and Mirio fits that role better than Deku
Deku wants to save people too. That is like his main definition of what it means to be a hero. One of the big differences between him and Bakugo too. Bakugo wants to always win, Deku wants to save everyone.
@@Lixtar_ the point was that mirio was MADE to show show audience someone whobis basically superior to mirio, same with overhaul to shigaraki. But this episode literally proved he wouldn't have been better than deku, as well as some stuff later in the future
Is Deku like Eren if Eren didn’t go completely crazy (I was gonna call him evil but I’m not really sure if he was evil or not. That’s the vibe I got from watching ur reactions but I never technically finished the show so idk lol)
Definitely not the same lmao Eren chases freedom is willing to sacrifice anything to obtain it, Deku would sacrifice himself if it meant another saved life
@@AGoodwinTV I feel like it has more to do with the theme like in the AOT universe there’s no villains except how they interpreted religion but in my hero you got a more wide selection of people who are good, up to no good, little bit of both sometimes none at all like mineta lmao

If I guessed correctly to what manga spoilers you are referring to, I'm inclined to disagree because All Might uncovered that fairly recently.
@@erikteutloff2183 You might actually be right. I thought he may had been suspicious about it for quite some time. He just wasn't completely sure since he didn't have the right info. It's been a minute since I read those chapters so I'm not sure 100%.

No one can be All Might
Not even All Might
Deku better keep that promise or I'll end him with this fist
Don't forget to watch heroes rising after part 1 of season 4

Spoiler
I think it is funny how he say shiggy now has a conviction and no longer just wants to see the world burn when his conviction pretty much boils down to wanting to burn the world down. He may make some exceptions but his greatest desire is in fact to destroy everything especially hero society.
Are you a manga reader
nice
I can't stop reading lemillion as le melon
hey I know you normally don't react to real life shows but consider 'squid game' as show you could react to next. it's really great
Hey you should react to an anime called erased. pretty dark stuff but theres also a lotta good moments. theres only 12 episodes so a nice short watch
Exhibit Iida 😂
while mirio approach is not wrong, it is not the approach of a hero this is why i think izuku is a more worthy choice. As a hero it should not matter if its going against the investigation what matter is saving people
Yeah s4 Shigaraki is much more of a schemer than before
not related to mha but would you read one piece? a one piece volume reaction of sort. I think you would love this story. ch 1 alone is phenomenal to get a taste of it and it just gets better turning into a really complex emotional character rich adventure fantasy epic.
All My Homies Hate Nighteye's Prediction.
I also really disliked Nighteye before this episode. The show did a great job redeeming him in just one episode.

Is Deku like Eren if Eren didn’t go completely crazy (I was gonna call him evil but I’m not really sure if he was evil or not. That’s the vibe I got from watching ur reactions but I never technically finished the show so idk lol)
Definitely not the same lmao Eren chases freedom is willing to sacrifice anything to obtain it, Deku would sacrifice himself if it meant another saved life
Lol well they are both the protagonists... Deku is like Erin if Erin had had a positive beach experience
@@AGoodwinTV I feel like it has more to do with the theme like in the AOT universe there’s no villains except how they interpreted religion but in my hero you got a more wide selection of people who are good, up to no good, little bit of both sometimes none at all like mineta lmao
@@AGoodwinTV Deku is a more Gohan like character from DBZ you can definitely see those parallels of how Deku idolizes all might and gohan idolizes goku
