I use almost the same westinghouse machine as seen in this advertisement. I also have the matching dryer. Mine is a 1958 machine. I've never tried dumping sand in it lol. It looks like something from the jetsons and the back lights up. It has like a million water temperature settings. The dryer has the auto dry feature which seems quite advanced for 1958.
I love this post. The first woman reminds me so much of my grandmother. She was a socialite back then and so very proper and well dressed and well mannered. "I should say not!; reminded me so much of her I cried. She could have been one of these ladies with Betty Furness and she even had that Westinghouse washer and dryer.
The only reason the Westinghouse did better with sand removal is the perforated tub which the three top loaders didn't have. They were solid tub washers. Of course Westinghouse didnt test against Whirlpool/Kenmore. Those two had perforated wash baskets since the beginning of the automatic washer boom after WW2.
even a normal washing machine couldnt take this dirt out top loader wachine machine used to take out clothes more clean and without smells furthermore cause of spinning normal wachine machines can make clothes get narrow top loaders or even wringer washers never do that
Amazing you had to have a lot of patients to watch tv commercials like that back in the day. I guess Westinghouse was a great brand back in the day I was born in 68.
I love how they had to use well-born ladies from the Federation of Women's Club. Mrs. Olin Grantham? Distant relation of the Earl of Grantham, no doubt.
We made the best appliances. Plus we manufactured them in America. Sending our technology and manufacturing base oversees destroyed our manufacturing base. We need to bring it back.
You mean 2 cups of ground rocks lady . Not soil from your garden. If there was no sand in the Westinghouse when it was finished. I bet i know where is ended up. All in the U trap of the drain line standpipe . No money saved , now you've got to call a plumber. And that sand will eventually tear up that Westinghouse drain pump too.

The 80's had White Westinghouse for front loaders. In the 90's, White Consolidated Industries did not make a front loader for the 1995 model year, as the front loader was being redesigned, to include a front loading detergent, bleach, and softener dispenser tray, and the dryer to stack on top for the 1996 model year. For the 1996 model year, instead of going by White Westinghouse, it went under Frigidaire. I bought my first front loader in 1999, and did a good job. It had the wash, spray rinse during the draining of the wash water, then 3 short rinses, with a spin in between. The final rinse was when the softener dispensed. It did a load of clothes in 40 to 50 minutes. The drawback was the spin speed, of just 550rpm. It went to 900rpm during the last 3 minutes of the final spin.

Imagine sitting through these types of commercials over and over again

Today’s lesson: Don’t mix dirt into your detergent.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Oooh, i just love that " you can be SURE, if it's Westinghouse"
I love this! I wamt to go back in a time machine to this time!
Now let's put all 18 dirty towels in the Westinghouse and see if they come out clean.
So weird, lol, but you can be SURE if it's Westinghouse! We have a flatscreen Westinghouse TV and so far, so good!!

Ok ladies ! Let's destroy 4 brand new washers !😆

So 50's how the women were introduced with their husband's names....
"Dirty sand" - meaning it was dark in color. Nothing actually "dirty" about it.
I’m Mrs. Kenneth Strayer, all day long. Keen eyes can tell which machine is which by the lids and tops that show.
Washer X was a Norge
@@AnthonyCuozzo-dd4yjinteresting! I guess it is. Donno why I said Maytag.
'You can be sure that it's Westinghouse'.

right about speed queen
Centerpost agitator machine Z was a G-E Filter-Flo automatic, judging from the filter on top of the agitator. Not sure what machines X and Y were...
Y looks like a Frigidaire
Front loading washers are nothing new. They just made a comeback in the 1990s.
The first automatics in the 30s were front loafers. The bendix machines
