Ironically SAAB is investing in electric-only cars and this would be in direct competition w/the Renault-Nissan electric-cars plan, especially for China (SAAB's new owners are Chinese and Japanese) so it'll be interesting to see what happens there. However, I think Renault will not succeed except by 'retrenching' to its home market (if it can do more) while Nissan will just lose more market share.
Renault-Nissan have resorted to making odd-ball cars in a dwindling car share. To be honest Nissan was Ghosn's best achievement, but Renault is from weaknesses-to-weaknesses.
