    I have done a display style rain chamber before and I think the one thing that helped me was getting a variable pump, so you can adjust how much water comes out the nozzles 👍😁

  • @fresnocascabel7571
    @fresnocascabel7571 3 года назад +1

    Sounds like a cool project. My only suggestion is to create an external weir with your drain pipe. It allows you to have adjustable water heights inside the tank, which can simulate a wet and dry season or simply be functional as a way to do easy water changes.

    • @fresnocascabel7571
      @fresnocascabel7571 3 года назад

      I guess I have 2 suggestions.. You might use a solenoid valve (or 2) to control the rain function, that way you're using just 1 return pump.

    It was great to see your process working with the glass at this scale! I think a lot of people (myself included) can be a bit hesitant to build from all glass so content like this is really helpful. It seems doable if you have everything planned correctly and take your time with it! Can't wait to see how it comes together. You're definitely following proto here bud.

    Can't wait to see how this turns out. Fancy building another palu myself. Have to say I can't help feel that the vents vivaria like this have spoil the look somewhat. Prefer just a plain aquarium for a paludarium myself, although such tanks present certain issues of course. Saying that the one you built using filter matting was/is absolutely amazing.

    • @TroyGoldberg
      @TroyGoldberg  3 года назад

      Yeah I mean I’d agree that Aquarius one solid piece of glass is nicer to look at.... but when you compare the easy access for maintenance and also the door vent and top vent design having passive ventilation for a rainforest habitat, it’s a no brainer. Front sliders for the win!!

    • @johnclipperton3774
      @johnclipperton3774 3 года назад

      @@TroyGoldberg yeah exactly the issues I was thinking about with aquaria. My mind says front opening but my heart still says aquarium! :D Definitely watching with interest anyway, particularly the water depth chosen. I always wanted to see the complete frog life cycle in a tank but didn't quite manage it with mine. I was reading my old thread the other day actually back on Dendroboard and I notice you commented on it back then (a good 12 years ago now!). Just getting back into the hobby myself and have to say your videos, collection etc are amazing - definitely giving me inspiration!

    You build great viv's, i just can't wait to see this one done... I do not want to sound as a smart ass, but i want to warn you that's one very unreliable way to build a glass tank! Those are very heavy glass pieces, it's not suppose to be siliconed on top of the bottom glass, but around it instead, because of the weight all the silicone is squeezed out and the two glasses touching is very prone to shatter. Also when placing a glass on a position it slides everywhere which is not good for a silicone layer... I know that's gonna be a vivarium and not gonna hold a lot of pressure, but still, i hope it holds! With siliconing around the bottom, you can avoid all these issues... best wishes, keep up the good work, we are waiting for the next video!

    I'm jealous of your low RH! I did a 3'x3' paludarium dart frog viv in my terrarium room and air is now way too humid since, walls are growing mold if I don't ventilate or heat the room (Canada).
    On large vivs, I wonder if the front ventilation track is better on a horizontal orientation (facing you), or flat (like euro style vivs, facing the ground) for best air flow and less fog on the front glass. Do you have any experience with that?
    Will the terrarium be passive ventilation or with fans?
    Can't wait to see next videos!

    • @TroyGoldberg
      @TroyGoldberg  3 года назад

      This one will probably have a small fan it it as well as have the passive... my 180 gallon does pretty well as far as being humid then drying out a bit, the front doors stay pretty clear for the most part... it’s got a 2” vent at the door and a 4” vent up top tho
