  • Why move to Columbus, Ohio? This has been a hot topic over the last few decades and looks to be a trend for at least a few more as Columbus enters what I believe will be the Golden Age of prosperity for the region. From ease of getting around, proximity to other cities, job opportunities, cost of living, culture, education or the outdoors, Columbus is on the move!

    About Me
After growing up in Central Ohio, the natural progression is to move to Columbus, but this was a very different town in the early 2000s. After surviving the Great Recession, Columbus has been on an absolute tear. While the recession was rough, we tended to fare better than many other cities partially due to the diverse amount of employers in the area. That, along with a focus on redevelopment of areas close to Downtown, population growth and the relatively cheap cost of living have helped buoy the Central Ohio area.
It doesn't seem that long ago in 2009 when residents were stoked to get Yuengling Lager to the area. Fast forward a short decade and today we have over 50 local breweries and our own "Ale Trail". That is just one of the fantastic changes.
Leaving for ten years, I left more or less a cow town and returned to a City bustling with boutique shops, coffee houses and restaurants, a renewed focus on fitness and somehow it seemed sunnier. In fact, it was such a cool city that we decided to stay.

Yay! You're back!!! If CBUS is growing as fast as you say they will definitely have to work on their Public Transportation. They at least need to consider light rail. They have a chance to avoid a lot of the mess that other Cities made of their traffic situation that have overlooked this issue. MAKE CBUS WALKABLE!

Love your videos, my friend! I'm a disabled vet. looking to move to Columbus within the next 12-24 months. Would love to see your knolwedge of the area applied to a video highlighting opprotunities/services/programs/etc. for vets in the area. For instance I've seen you mention before that property taxes can be high in Columbus. Disabled vets get some write offs or deductions on that, I'm pretty confident, that others might want to know about as well. Or that Columbus has a big VA facility just 10-15 minutes outside of the downtown area.
Thanks for the great and always informative content, Sir!

We're moving to columbus from Fort Collins, CO in August. We've been Watchung all of your content. It's been super helpful. We're going to miss our mountain views and quick access to hiking. But it sounds like a little bit of driving will get us to some nice hiking spots in Columbus too.

I just moved (end of February '24) to Groveport, OH. I'm 15 minutes to downtown, but in a very safe suburban setting. This town dies after 8pm, but all the cool places to hangout are, like I said, 15minutes away! My apartment in Lexington, KY was the same price, but the apartment I found here is 2x the size!

(March, 2024) I am considering a move to Columbus and a HUGE Minnesota sports fan and wear it on my sleeve. I am not seeing a problem with dealing with Buckeyee fans, better than Badger fans.

We moved to Columbus (suburb Ostrander) in June 2023 and am loving it. My son attends OSU and we relocated here to stay close to him. We love how affordable it is, the ease of driving around, all the great restaurants and how welcoming everyone has been. It's a much simpler way of life than the East Coast and our only regret is not moving here sooner.

Im a young man that might be moving to Columbus for work from California (Cant see myself ever owning a home or raising a family in California, the millennials are wrecking the state). Are there apartment options or is everything mostly single family homes? How are the churches in the area?

I moved here from DC because it was touted as being progressive. I found it pretentious and the people clannish, rude, and Appalachian. Then, they place a tremendous amount of focus on Ohio State sports like it’s the only thing they have to hold onto. I left after two years.

Nice video, sir. Easily said by someone who makes money getting people to buy homes in Columbus.! Columbus is a fine area but I would like to point out it has changed a lot and not all for the bettter. I’m good at being rude and blunt so here it goes. Let me remind you the southside has been a mess for as long as I can remember. The casino certainly hasn’t saved the declined west side. Northland is literally a Third World. Eastland is a downright deserted boarded up ghetto. And I don’t know why you think traffic is so wonderful getting around. That’s the real Columbus. Your customers aren’t being steered to. I bet you’re selling much higher prices outside of 270 in a burb. Of course since nearly the whole county is trchnicslly “Columbus,” (but you may not have to go to Columbus schools, thank God,) You can still say it’s Columbus!!

    ONLY IN OH-
WE GET IT! PLUS, IT'S A DEAD MEME! PEOPLE FROM OHIO ARE ALSO BORN JUST LIKE YOU! YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?

Coming from a person that has lived here for 30 years don't move here. Do your research on drugs crime and violence first. The property taxes are getting out of hand. Just do your research first please.
