The money exchange happened a way after the gun episode in public with many witnesses. The gas station manager said they have to pay for the damages. Luckily there were witnesses everywhere and cameras. He said he was robbed at gun point by police. (Police were called but when they arrived the situation was over and the athletes were gone).
