This is one of the GREATEST Money Matches ever at Evo. The hype and the crowd at the time was absolutely insane. Also the craziest part is that unlike previous Evolution tournaments this one wasn't broadcast online but only being aired through chat. I can't remember the guy who was commentating the match but he was on chat and telling everyone who was online what was going down. Back then we had like 10k+ viewers which was insane back then but now its over 140k+...we've come a long way.
This was the most hype moment in FGC history. I don't see this level of hype ever coming back. MVC2 had the most hype, the most drama, the best money matches.
Agreed, the amount of skill required to do this effectively is no longer required in today's fighting games. So the feel of winning isn't as satisfying to watch. Just my opinion.

Like damn do you even have to think anymore. It was so bad that you could chip away a third of someone's health with one super in a lvl 3 xfactor. I miss taking my Cammy psylock tron, against God tiers just for the challenge. The best thing about mvc2 is that I'd you're good you could stand a chance with any well put together team. Maybe not at evo in the top 16, but on a day to day basis to keep your fundamentals intact, most definitely. I mained MSP though. Lol

That east coast vs west coast shit was some of the most hype of all time in Esports. You had so many classics like Duc vs Sanford, Soo vs JWong, Yipes vs Chris Schmidt, Demon Hyo shitting on Dark Prince.
Watching this more than a decade later, it is clear to see how dominating Captain Commando's assist was. And I'm saddened when I realize that using characters solely for their assists is what led Capcom to radically change the mechanics in MvCI, which ultimately killed the series.
Atlesdt mvci was fun to play. Maybe if the roster/graphics weren't stale it would have lived longer. The meta changed from good assists to good lockdown supers

@@LTRiiken it doesnt work if sentinel is fullscreen, a bit too slow, its more about sentinels being aware enough these days not to do it unsafely. although that will get you into a good matchup if they dont have meteer, if they do they can dhc into storm out of it on reaction as the sentinel player, get the hail dmg + knockdown and followup which is the last thing u want when youre cable

If you're referring to the blue screens, that's due to hardware issues with the Dreamcast. That's one of the reasons why Evo stopped using Dreamcasts where possible.
Bitter old mana found. You can just as easy fall in to the trap of my character does this and not think beyond that in old fighters the same as with new ones. Just because the execution isn't "watered down" doesn't make it better. No games play themselves, some just give way too much damage for far too little effort and make it really easy to develope bad habits and hard to figure out you have them.
@Based Kaiser @Based Kaiser Bruh, what do you call a reversal than? It and burst technically are comeback mechanics in the sense that they mostly exist to be able to stop the player lead. As for making execution easier characters like st Guile are mechanically hard to play unless charge characters don't work for you, he's still considering one of the hardest to use characters in st because he's that hard strategically. Then there's samshow which is really simple by design but no one rakes it over the coals for that. Like I get that those newer games aren't for you and I'm not a huge fan of them either but at least let the people that like them have their fun in piece.

A trapping team is a team that tries to control the other player's movements such that there are only brief moments and ways to escape out of the trap. Trying to escape out of the Spiral sword patterns is a nightmare.

It's not the pause button, it's the Dreamcast controller plug-in capacitor. That's why they're often replaced in current mods. :)

I haven't tried nullDC but have heard good things. I play on PSN and find matches all the time of varying skill levels: it's fun.
