  • Hello and welcome to Traveling with Luigi!
In this episode my wife and I will visit the temple of Horus at Edfu. Join us in this fascinating trip to discover one of the best preserved Greco-Roman sites in Egypt.
Learn about the mammisi, a small chapel in front of the temple associated with the birth of Harsomtus, the son of Horus and Hathor (the cow goddess); then join us as we explore the main courtyard, the hypostyle hall, the sanctuary and some of the rooms. Walk the spiraling circular path for the stairway simulating the ascend of a falcon (Horus), used in the new year rituals! Take a look at probably one of the most ancient recipes for perfume engraved in walls! yes! they used perfumes to purify the temple and the statues, and much more.
It was a fantastic visit, that we are not soon to forget, we encourage you to visit in person, you will not regret it. Thank you for watching this episode and "Happy travels"!
We had a great guide, Mr Mohammed Abdo, 100% recommended. reach out to him here:
