We recently sat down with Mannie Fresh, Juvenile & Hot Boy Turk for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation they talked about their tour, Mannie talks about starting his music journey as a DJ in the 1980’s, explains how he got into making beats, bringing the MPC into the club while DJing, Juvenile getting his start by writing a song for somebody else, Turk explains how he met Juve & Fresh, Juve explains the process of creating ‘400 Degreez’ album, Mannie picking out the songs for 400 Degreez, Mannie being hands on as a producer, their fans wanting them to stay true to their sound, influencing other regions, their favorite aspects of New Orleans culture, building a whole genre off “Triggerman”, Juve feeling like he should be mentioned amongst the greats, the album never losing momentum, recently dropping a music video for “400 Degreez”, artists from Cash Money & No Limit having good relationships with each other, their deal with Universal taking them to the next level, rapping about things about regular people who afford & relate to, the unique culture in New Orleans, share stories of performing with Three 6 Mafia, Juvenile getting the key to the city of New Orleans, reveal what keeps the inspired & motivated, speaking the Hot Boys reunion concert into existence, doing their performances with live audio, Mannie explains how the Hot Boys ended up on Biggie’s song “Hope You Ns Sleep”, Juve’s new business ventures, Mannie’s love for his cars, Turk’s upcoming work, and much more!

The first time I heard the triple hi-hats was DJ Squeaky from Memphis and then UGK on their first album on Bigg Time Records, The Southern Way.

Shout out to Juve! I was stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in 2006. He came out there and did a concert on base as part of the USO tour. It was 4th of July weekend. That, along with some other stuff me and the fellas got ourselves into, had to be one of the best memories of my life.
