Thank you for this! Prices on everything are almost normal now. I worked myself up to 3 grand with Z690, 12900K, 64GB DDR-5 at 6GHZ This would be about 800 bucks, SO for now, I'll go with this, a12700K, and use 1/2 of my 128GB of DDR-4, 2666. I can do it all for under $900 with a 1KW supply.
You should be fine with just 32 GB RAM. Save yourself the money and put that towards the 12900K. I use the mobo and ram both DDR5 versions and under 3k for the build. But I went to Micro Center. Try there too.
Been tough deciding between this one, asus tuf, and the msi pro a. Will be my first build ever with a 12700k and 3080 hybrid. Big upgrade from a 2012 MacBook lol.
I got the msi edge for my 12600k and I love it, asus was having problems during launch, may be better now. Overclockeing is handled well by the msi edge 👏 newegg reviews are worth checking out
My ASUS TUF I had my 12900k plugged into went bad after only 7 months. A local best buy had this board and I couldn't be happier. It's KILLING IT and has everything I need. Great review.
Ddr 4 and ddr5 mobos are around the same price. The problem is the ddr5 ram prices at this moment. Eventually ddr5 ram will be widely available at affordable prices then I can upgrade. For now I'll stick to ddr4.
Exactly and that's if you can get it. Ddr5 may be worth it in the future but problem is most of the good new boards require ddr5 and like you said ddr5 isn't widely available yet.
Funny enough, currently the price is $250 for the Z690 MPG Edge Wifi DDR5 and $273 for the Z690 MAG Tomahawk Wifi DDR5 so the Edge is great value right now although it’s still significantly more expensive than say the Z390 Edge which was only around $175 iirc
Nice video! I want to pair my i5 12600K and I am doubting between three Z690 DDR 4 motherboards: the Aorus Elite ($290), MSI MPG Edge ($375) Asus ROG Strix A Gaming ($420) I am a casual gamer. Which one would you advise and why?
Depends on how much you want to to spend, however Id say an Aorus Elite will provide you everything you need at its lower price, and there isn't anything in the other two that will justify the higher prices.
Msi Edge Z690 is the absolut best motherboard running ddr4 ( running 5000mhz ddr4 on daily bases) 32gb, Gigabyte has faulty bios and Asrock+Asus all overpriced shit boards, and that hasnt changed with the Z790

@@stickyRice9 I''m thinking this plus 12600k, then upgrade to Raptor Lake 13700k maybe next year. How's it running so far with the 12600k?
Which one did you pick in the end?
Lol. My last computer was a mid 2012 Mac too. Basically building to the same specs for new 😂
@@stickyRice9 I have a asus tuf gaming ddr4. Still having issues. I switched to this

Price is $210 USD as of Dec 2023. Great board. Was able to overclock and came with MSI specific driver and tuning software that is a nice touch
i got for $240... but Aorus is ridiculous price tag......atleast its Z Motherboard.. than B chipset..

How didn’t you reach 100k subs ? Your vids are amazing don’t you dare stop posting!
Thanks a lot! Don't know why it's not growing either but I wasn't planning on stopping!
There's only a £20 difference between this and the Tomahawk....think it's worth it?
You have a very useful and interesting channel. Thank you! Great works.
Thanks, glad you like it!
I was going to get the Carbon but it doesn’t support DDR4 from what I saw

The Aorus Elite was only $30 cheaper at my time of purchase, so I went with the Edge.
32gb of ddr5 ram, i7-13700k, Meg edge z790a ddr5, MSI ATX 3.0 PSU and a 4080FE
Did this board ddr5 with 32 gb 6000 speed a i712 kf and a 3080 😮 beast of a build
i cant imagine the cost
I have a 12900k and only have 1 CPU power cord plugged in am I safe? I haven't oc it
Yes, you don't need more than just the one CPU power connector.
Unless you heavy OC it.
Am thinking to buy i7 12700k and I can’t decide what motherboard should i buy this one or the asus tuf can you help me?
this one of course
Bluetooth? USB c front connector?
yes
Wait is this motherboard backwards compatible with ddr5 and ddr4 memory?
There are both DDR4 and DDR5 variants of this board.
No.
It's separate boards.
You can't get the ddr 4 version and use ddr 5 memory or vice versa.
Thank you
Good review yo!
Thanks!
CARBON VS EDGE ?
The Carbon is the higher-end model, it has more phases going to the CPU and more USB at the back.
@@avrona thk. Has always been a fan of Asus, but something is expensive (((
I use my z690 edge for checking email and web surfing while running 8gb of DDR4
The Aorus elite don’t have good reviews from what I see
Do you need to run both CPU power sockets for normal operation?
No, you only need to run one. The 2nd one is a bonus if you can run it.
Boyinaband is a PC enthusiast, too? Awesome sauce. 😉
You pay for the dope design and performance
just got the msi for 279, and 12700k will be here tuesday
just got this bored with an I7 13700k, i cant wait .

Lol the msi motherboards are amazing but I wouldn't get the edge I would get the carbon as I did!
Does the carbon support DDR4?
@@dngrtegaijin4680 no
Hoe about all 4xddr5 the sametime?
What’s the difference?
The Edge is amazing, even 2 years later.
This motherboard supports both DDR4 AND DDR5?! I didn’t think that was possible.
No it doesn't, there's 2 separate versions one which supports DDR4 and another which supports DDR5.
this is a beginner board
I can overclock a 12900k with this. This is a great board
