I heard of this filmmaker long ago from a few people. I should have researched her much earlier. I have to see all her works. I was just aware of "A Dry White Season" I didn't know of "Sugarcane Alley". I must see them both. After watching this woman's review of how she became a filmmaker, and at what age she knew was her calling I can't help but be superimpressed with her. She really needs to be honored for "Women's History Month" for the accomplishments she's brought to film with the struggles she's experienced to market her stories in Hollywood. God Bless this very talented Sista!

On hearing of Donald Sutherland's passing, this was the first film I thought of. Outstanding piece of cinema. Marlon Brando and Susan Sarandon were great, but Sutherland was sublime in this film. It's been 35 years since I last watched it but every scene is imprinted in my memory, especially Sutherland's last scene. Euzhan Palcy is a brilliant director.
